Pearl Rice Juice. $6.50 + tax. Juice fermented by fruits (fig, mangosteen & papaya), rice & yam. Unique/pretty tasty.

This is the second location of this bubble tea place which is associated with their sister spot Uluh/Little Uluh with the other one being on 14th Street. I'm unsure if they're still open as I've not been back to Industry City in a while but I presume they are as they're not listed as closed on Google and I would be surprised if they closed as they I believe had just opened when I went. For directions, this is in the same place as I believe Baolala with the drinks in front as part of Industry City Courtyard 3/4 which is past the exit from Japan Village. The drink menu is unique and a bit expensive especially as far as bubble teas. I went with the Pearl Rice Juice which is listed as "fermented by fruits (fig, mangosteen & papaya), rice & yam" which was $6.50 plus tax. There were other people before me and after me who got through drinks a bit earlier but I guess mine was a bit unique so it took longer. The online ordering system allows you to pick between fig, mangosteen, and papaya it seems, but judging by the flavor, I'm pretty sure they gave me mangosteen which I was happy about or it was a mix. It's hard to describe the flavor outside of perhaps reminding me of some fermented rice soups/Jiu Niang found in some Chinese places for dessert. By comparison, it was less alcoholic tasting of course with some more fruitiness. I'm not sure if I would ever get it again but at least it was different. Would possibly go back even with the egregious prices.

Overpriced mid drinks. Deceptive product images. Spend your money elsewhere. Service was good.

It's a short walk a few blocks over from the subway station. The place is HUGE! We didn't cover everything, but I know I already want to return and see more. Yesterday, we visited Japan Village and House of GOAL NY mainly, and we had lunch at the Food Hall and visited the two-story Petco store there. We cut through Innovation Alley to get to different buildings throughout the day, so we got to see a variety of shops, eateries, and courtyards in the Industry City compound (yeah, that was intentional, I said compound). It's a vibrant place with how the indoor and outdoor areas are laid out, designed, and decorated. By design, it's a space to bring people together and gather, etc. I also noticed how accessibility friendly it was with ramps, clear signage for elevators, etc. I really liked Industry City a lot and will come back for sure :)

After lunch I spent about an hour strolling around and it felt like I could have stayed even longer. There are so many restaurants and stores that you can wander without any plan and still find something interesting. The whole space has this open creative energy that feels very Brooklyn. You see families, people working on laptops, groups hanging out, and visitors just exploring. The courtyards are really nice to walk through and the art installations give the place a fun personality. It feels like a mix of food hall, shopping area, and outdoor hangout spot all in one. There are great food options, coffee spots, and little shops that make it easy to spend time there without rushing. It is the kind of place where you can grab lunch, walk around, sit outside for a bit, and still feel like you have more to see. I left thinking I need to come back on a weekend when I can take my time. It is a really enjoyable spot in Brooklyn and perfect for a relaxed afternoon.

My sister has the app, so she was able to order for pick-up. The order took 20 minutes, so we went to pick up some groceries in the area before heading to pick up the drinks. When you first walk in, you are hit with the lovely and fragrant smell of tea leaves, and freshly brewed tea. I went with one of the more popular drinks - Coconut Mango Blue. I don't normally love coconut flavor but you couldn't taste it too much here. You taste more of the mango flavor, which was refreshing. I had never had blue spirulina before and it didn't really taste like anything. Again, you just taste more of the mango. Hubby had the Green Grape Boom, which was a little melty by the time he drank it so it would have tasted much better if it was still slushy. I think next time, I would try just a plain Jasmine tea, so that I could really taste the flavor of the tea.

I placed an order for us from the kiosk, which was easy and intuitive. He got the Greek Salata, and I went with a warm Salmon Goddess plate. Originally I placed an order for two Green Protein smoothies, but the shop ran out of vegan protein, so I got two Choco Banana Brew smoothies instead. The food was really good. We both also loved the Choco Banana Brew smoothies, which has cold brew coffee, almond milk, almond butter, cocoa nibs, banana, and agave. They make them really good here - I'm going to try to make a dupe at home until I can go back. Plus, the staff working at Avo yesterday were cool and friendly. I ordered the buy one get one free spicy chicken bowl on Uber Eats, which was a pretty good deal. I think the additional chicken al pastor I added had more seasoning than the original chicken, even though this bowl is advertised as spicy, I think the seasonings are a little on the light side. The dressing that came on the side was delicious and was essential to brighten the whole thing up. I love that these bowls are high fiber and not drowning in lots of rice like Chipotle and the likes. The cabbage adds a necessary crunch for texture without adding too many calories. The addition of the half avocado is also so good and the flavor profile of the entire bowl is really delicious. I can't wait to come again and try more of their combos. This is a great spot to grab a quick lunch or mid afternoon meal. They will be seeing more of me!
