I'm surprised by the rating Church Ranch has on here, but I guess it had something to do with the former management of the place? Anyway, I have been taking my two dogs and now my bird to Church Ranch for over a year now and have only had good experiences. I wanted to take the time to write this review finally because I had to make a very difficult decision this weekend in regards to one of my sweet, sweet dogs. Unfortunately, she had to be euthanized. It was a horrible thing to happen and I'm still extremely heartbroken over the sudden loss, but I wanted to write a review and thank Dr. Kay and the staff at Church Ranch Veterinary. From start to finish, they were extremely kind, considerate, and empathetic toward my situation. From the front desk to staff to the veterinary technical that helped, they were all extremely warm and compassionate during my dark hour. It was an awful thing to have to do, but Church Ranch had a special room so I could be with my dog during the process. It was a tranquil room with lots of dog treats and peanut butter for her to enjoy toward the end. I've never had to do this with a dog before, but the staff explained everything that would happen from start to finish even before the process started so I knew what to expect. I knew this was coming all week and had been dreading it deeply, so the care and assistance I got from everyone at Church Ranch was very helpful. They made me feel like I wasn't alone and I appreciate that deeply. I'm sorry my girl is gone, but I'm glad it happened at Church Ranch. read more

My dog severely injured his paw. He accidentally sliced his paw pad on the flat head of a nail sticking out of my fence when the neighbors dog pushed out a picket and the nail. My dog was barking at the other dog scratching the fence, and slid his paw down slicing his poor pad. Just dogs being a dogs. I called another Vet first, and they couldn't fit him in to be seen. It was very upsetting as I take two of my other animals there all the time. Then I called Church Ranch Veterinary Hospital and they quickly made me an appointment to bring him in that morning. Making an emergency appointment is cheaper than walking in with no appointment. They scheduled him for surgery when I brought him in and took excellent care of him. I was able to pick him up later that afternoon/evening. Normally they would glue the wound together, but the cut was so bad that they had to internally sew his pad together. It was costly, but the care was superb! So glad he was prescribed all the medications he needed as well. He developed bad anxiety after his injury, and they prescribed him anxiety meds immediately. It was such a relief he got the best care here. After surgery appointment checks, and re-wrapping his paw/surgery site is also costly each visit, but it's important to me that he heals and gets no infections. They really care here and I am so relieved my dog is getting better each day. I highly recommend this veterinary hospital. They don't treat your animal like a number, they actually care and that means everything to us. This place is our new Vet for him! read more

Not sure what kind of racquet they are running here, but it was the worst experience. If you're not prepared to spend a lot of money to diagnose your pet with any money making disorder, they won't help. They sent me home to lethally dose my cat at home. I brought him in because he was constipated, they wanted to test him for pancreatitis. I just needed to see if he was blocked up. They let me take him home with a huge amount of matted feces cemented on him. They charged me for an X-ray, a couple pain sedatives, one which I didn't approve & the vet tech mentioned on the sly as we were leaving cuz they said there was nothing more they could have done. Like clean him up, remove the feces which I have to cut out myself. They are also recording everything in the exam rooms unbeknownst to you. They had the wrong info regarding my cat's weight & gender & when I reached out for clarification they said they take things like this seriously and would get back to me and never have! Horrible service and I don't recommend ever taking your pet there. read more

We had to take our almost 16 year old Yorkie in on Sunday/ 4/19. Doctor Kay saw our Chloe in December and we were hoping to get him again. Dr Kay was in that day. We took Chloe in for Bloody Diarrhea and vomiting. Dr Kay gave us options for diagnostics or just take medicine. I elected for Diagnostics and got results within 15-20 Minutes. Chloe had Colitis, Pancreatitis, and beginning of Kidney disease. We got our medicine with clear instructions. Unfortunately, our poor Chloe wasn't responding to medication and was more lethargic. Not eating or drinking for 3 days and had a hard time standing up. We made the hard decisions to put her to rest. My wife called that afternoon and made the appointment for a few hours later. Everyone in the staff was so kind, empathetic and considerate. The lady doctor explained the whole process to us. We held our Chloe while they put her to rest. My wife and I went through a lot of Kleenex. This is an excellent Veterinary clinic. Thank you to Dr Kay and the whole staff. read more

Our 90lb Great Dane/Great Pyrenees puppy, Bennett, sliced her paw open 2 Sundays ago at 4:30 PM. We knew it was really bad by how badly she was bleeding. I called Church Ranch Veterinary Center asking if they could see her. Rachel and Dr. Farina stayed over 2.5 hours after closing to perform emergency surgery on her paw and showed her (and us) nothing but compassion and kindness. Dr. Farina listened when I told her we'd need something stronger than the usual pain meds to keep her calm while her foot heals. Rachel and Dr. Farina also made us feel comfortable with the treatment plan and were honest with us when describing the injury and the aftercare. All the vet techs that have helped us with subsequent bandage changes and office visits have also been amazing! They also have followed up after each visit to see how our "little girl" is doing, and making sure that we're all ok. Bennett is still healing, but we're past the worst of it. I took my dog in this morning because he isn't feeling well. Website says open 7 days a week walk-ins and urgent care open 8:00 to 5:00. I arrived at 7:50 nobody in the parking lot lights off. At 8:00 still nobody there. I call the number and get a recording, for emergency press 1 just got a beep to leave a message. at 8:05 a car rolls in, woman says what are you here for? My dog is sick. Oh we don't have any vets or techs onsite today. False advertising at the least, should have come to yelp first to see the disaster this place is, i would have saved time and frustration. read more

This is the first review I've ever left on yelp but because my dog is basically my child, I felt compelled. :) We started our puppy here when we first got him and everything seemed fine, but for some reason they kept thinking he was 5 months old (even when I told them his DOB over the phone when scheduling his first appt). During his second appt about a month later they still kept thinking he was 5 months--not sure where they were getting that from but knowing his age is important when considering his vaxx schedule so that made me nervous. They also forgot to weigh him during his 2nd appt so they kept referencing his weight when he was much younger. I had to ask them to weigh him which again, seems odd. It feels like they don't review records prior to the visit. I've had to re-explain everything each time. They even almost gave him the wrong vaccine once. This morning's experience is the reason I am leaving this review though. We had this appt scheduled for weeks for one last booster shot. They had called me 3 times (no exaggeration) to confirm today's appointment. We came in today and it wasn't until the tech took my puppy to the back that she realized they didn't even have the shot we came in for. Therefore, the visit was a complete waste of time. They did give me his next dose of heart worm meds for free due to the inconvenience which was nice. However, due to the pattern of inconsistency, I just don't feel comfortable coming here anymore. Hope this helps anyone with a busy schedule and love for their fur baby. :) read more

I have to have my pet euthanized and all the girl who answered would talk about was their pricing, which includes a $93 upcharge on the interment with a 3rd party crematorium. She had no empathy at all and was argumentative on top of it. Take your pet any place else other than this corporate monstrosity that only sees your beloved pet as part of their revenue stream. read more

My husband brought our dog in after an episode that escalated fairly quickly between her walk around the block and this visit. After she passed out at home, we looked for the nearest emergency vet open after 7 since her normal vet closes at 5:30...so this place it was. As he walked in they immediately asked if he (hubs) had opiates or meth around the house...ugh, no. Based on the previous reviews, it sounds like this is a trend for them to automatically judge or jump to conclusions without actually testing the dog. Then they proceeded to tell him they could run her blood tests to see if she had something. My husband is a researcher, working with animals on a daily basis and knew what the tech had mentioned was a flat out lie, suspecting she was having a stroke or allergic reaction. They pulled blood but didnt run any tests as my husband knew better. Took our dog to our usual vet who said she was in better shape and confirmed she had an allergic reaction. I don't know that we'd return here if given the opportunity to go somewhere else. read more

Absolute rip off. It corporate-owned and it shows. They prioritize profits, not the well-being of animals. If you love your pets, and you don't want a corporation stealing your money, stay away. The did nothing for my bird with an injured leg - didn't even wrap it till I could get the $150.00 for xrays. No diagnosis - not even an opinion. Although the injury may take a few months to heal if it ever doe heal but they gave me only 5 days of pain medication with no refills I live over an hour away and they won't call in a refill to my pharmacy - they want me to make another visit, pay $68.00 for a visit before they give me another 5 days worth of pain meds. We love Church Ranch! I take both my pets here and the support staff and vet staff are always fantastic! We especially love the grooming team, Kathy is the best and you can tell she takes so much pride in her work, and my dog loves her. I was dog sitting for a pal when one of them got straight up dog diarrhea. It was a nightmare and we are talking poo everywhere. Filled with concern, I phoned her to say that we really needed to get her pup to a vet and thankfully VitalPet was able to get us in that evening and would take payment over the phone. I drove the poor pup straight over and left her in the capable hands of the staff. They were super welcoming and made sure I had all the info I needed about their process. They also stayed in communication with my pal who owns the dog. I had a work meeting and was even able to leave her at VitalPet until I was off work. They have later hours and so this was a nice addition free of charge. The vet was very thorough with his exam, very clear in his description to me of the diagnosis, and I felt comfortable administering the meds he prescribed. The pup is on the mend and although I had to spend the rest of the evening with a carpet cleaner, I was glad to know that my pal's pup was on the mend. read more

We had been going here with our puppy from 3 to 11 months old. We originally loved the place but due to recent experiences, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. My dog had a horrible fungal infection on her back leg and they let it continue to grow all the way up her leg and even after coming in with it growing four times in two months, all they gave me was a soap and said "I don't know it should be getting better. Just keep doing it". I eventually took her to another vet and they immediately gave her anti-fungal antibiotics and did fungal cultures and lab work. Amazingly, the infection cleared up in ONE WEEK! The new vet said that their lack of care for our dog was nearly considered patient neglect. On top of all of this, my sweet pup couldn't be groomed or brushed for three months due to the infection spreading and she became matted. We took her to the groomer at Vital Pet after her infection went away, already anticipating she would need to be shaved. The way we got her back was absolutely horrific. She had razor cuts in three places on her butt and a giant bloody, 3 inch long cut behind her front leg that is still healing. Her nails were cut jagged and she has spots of blood and small cuts from a razor on her ear. And then the front office ladies had the nerve to tell us that we need to take better care of her when the reason she was in this mess to begin with is their vets neglect of care for our dogs infection for THREE MONTHS! Our poor dog is now traumatized about vets and her cuts are still healing. If we had the time to sue this place I can guarantee we would. Do NOT spend a dime here. You and your sweet pup with regret it!! read more

We have been bringing our animals here for little over a year for veterinary visits. The vets are great and helpful! We booked our 2 dogs for boarding over a weekend and that is when the communication broke down. They lost all records of one of our dogs, and we were told several times they would call us to sort it out. We ended up having to go in person to sort this out as they never returned any phone calls. We had to correct them 3 times that we wanted our dogs boarded in the same cage/run prior to bringing them in. The day of boarding they still had the dogs in their system in separate cages. There are A LOT of nickel and diming in their boarding policies. We were told we can pick up the dogs by 5pm, but they failed to mention they will charge you $24 per dog if they are not picked up by 10am. So we basically paid for another night of boarding at that point. I could keep going on about the lack of communication and disorganization. We were supposed to receive a call from their manage to explain how this disaster transpired, but that has yet to happen. We are not boarding our animals there again due to this lack of communication and disorganization. City Bark sounds like a great option as they are very organized and transparent with their pricing and packages. read more

If you are looking for a great place to take your pet for Doggy Day Camp or Boarding, this location is incredible. My girlfriend and I were looking for an affordable option for a week when she was traveling out of town and I would be gone at work all day. We own a 6-month old puppy, Luna, who has a lot of great energy and needed somewhere that would allow her to burn off some steam. I am so thankful that we chose Vital Pet. Not only is it very affordable, but the staff is incredible. Everyone is so kind and understanding, and they are great at making sure all dogs in the Day Camp have the right vaccines and health requirements. The morning drop-off process is smooth, and pickup is also quick and easy. Each day, Luna has been so excited to go back. The Day Care workers know her by name, and they know me by name, even after the third day of coming in. The dogs get playtime, snacks, and a nap in the afternoon. Each day, our puppy comes home exhausted from the fun she has had. While transitioning her into the big dog area, the staff made sure to ease her in by playing with her separately and introducing her to other dogs. It made the process perfect, and Luna has had a great experience. You even get a report card at the end of the day with comments about how the day went. This place is awesome! read more

After a few awesome experiences there, we're no longer comfortable taking our dogs to VitalPet. At our most recent visit, they presented us with a bizarre legal disclaimer and requested we sign it. Basically, they want us to pay them to care for our dogs, yet the disclaimer is all but saying they won't. They want us to agree to let them take our dog to a facility of their choosing, without our knowledge, and send us the bill. They also say our dog can die and that's perfectly fine. If there's a manager of this place who made the decision to add that disclaimer, they should be let go. read more

If there was a Zero rating they would get it. I called over a week ago to start the process of getting my little guy's prescription refilled. And then let the lies begin. I called the Pharmacy and they said that Church Ranch Vet clinic is not responding to their request to refill. All this time I'm getting low on meds so I try calling the Vet and then it was more lies. They told me repeatedly they would check on it and call back. Then the last time I tried they said, "We called you and told you that we would need to see him to get it filled." Another lie. They did not call me. I don't know who they think they called but it wasn't me. I made an appointment, reluctantly. After that finally lie, I got to thinking, that with all I had been through WHY would I go back there. I called another Vet and made an appointment and after I called Church Ranch back to cancel the appointment "new" manager called me a little while later. Even though I believe she was sincere, her staff is not and was not. I just left there and they asked if I could wait an hour before we could be seen. AN HOUR! You don't make an "appointment" and then make people wait an hour. My little guy has tremendous anxiety and taking our of the hours if very hard on him. Good-bye and good riddens. At all costs, find another vet. The staff is rude and extremely unprofessional in my opinion. They used to be sooooo good there! read more

I took my 11wk old puppy here and he was sick the next day and has been sick 3 days now and I am taking him to another vet. The floor hadn't been cleaned- there were visible pieces of something I couldn't identify on the floor of the room. I think a vet should do a bleach mop in between patients. When he came back from shots, he was in a slip leash as opposed to his own leash. When he saw me, he started running towards me and choked on the leash bc the vet tech didn't let go. This isn't the kind of thing you want to happen to a puppy at the vet. The vet tech didn't touch him even once while she was in the room and neither did the actual vet! They did not act excited to see him or give treats or anything. I had to ask to leave before seeing the vet bc we had been waiting so long and there's only so much that's exciting that you can do with a puppy in a small room. Then the vet came and said, " looks great. That's a good looking dog. Everything is fine." He didn't even do the exam or anything. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Church Ranch Veterinary is really good. I have been bringing my Guinea Pigs there for 4yrs. Dr.Pei was incredible, i was bummed to see him go. Since then Dr. Barajas has taken excellent care of my boys. I also took my dog for care and referred two people to them. I am crazy in love with all a animals so it is reassuring to know this vet really cares. I have referred 3 friends and they are happy with the services and vets. The one issue I would have is how utterly expensive pig nail trims are. $37+ dollars a piece. Other than that I am highly satisfied with the care my pigs are getting. read more

I really wanted things to work out with Church Ranch Vet/Boarding Center because they are incredibly close to my home but after multiple poor experiences I am giving up. I have plenty of issues with this business but I'll start with price transparency. If you go here, plan to spend $60-$150 more than you are quoted because they WILL get you will hidden costs. I have been here multiple times and EVERY SINGLE TIME I ask what the cost is for the services I need and EVERY SINGLE TIME they slap an extra fee or two on at the end and jack up the price. I took my dog in for nail trimming, was quoted $20 but left paying almost $60. I took my dog in for a rabies shot, was quoted $40 but left paying $105. I wouldn't be upset if the quality of service and care matched the price but never have I felt like they provided services to warrant the price increase. On the last rabies visit, I was told the additional cost was for a wellness exam (that I just paid for the month before) and consisted of a vet tech taking my dog's temperature under the armpit. Feels like a scam to me. On top of shady billing practices, this office is just about as organized as a room full of kittens. My records are never accurate - dates for upcoming vaccines and whatnot are always incorrect (with the promise of updating them). The last wellness visit I had, I asked that my dog's vaccines all be updated. Two weeks after that appointment, my doggy daycare (a separate place) notified me that my dog needed a rabies renewal. When I asked why that was not done at the last wellness visit, the people at Church Ranch said "it just must have gotten missed" and expected me to pay an additional wellness exam fee to get it done. The boarding/daycare is a joke. I dropped my dog off for a trial day and he spent the entire visit in a kennel alone because he was forgotten about. When I went to pick him up they did not even realize they had my dog. He came home scared and upset and then ended up with kennel cough. I called to get a prescription for his cough and it took almost a week to get the pills for my dog (every day I was told they would be ready by end of day and then no one would call me) and they called me multiple times after I picked up the prescription to tell me it was ready - another prime example of their organization. And lastly, on my very first visit I should have seen the red flag and left. I took my dog for a vaccine update/wellness exam but since it was during covid I could not go in. Someone came and got my dog and told me to wait in the parking lot. I waited for almost 40 minutes and finally called to see what was happening. They put my dog in a room and forgot he was there. No one was doing his exam or taking care of him. It took them another 30+ minutes to complete the appointment and then they of course charged me more than I had been quoted for the super poor service. I can't believe I went back after that! Long story short - this place is over priced, under organized, and provides poor service to their customers. BEWARE! read more

Dr. Pei has been nothing but amazing with our dogs and cat. He's always willing to explain everything to me and show our pets lots of love. When we had to put our dog, Illa, down they were respectful. They explained everything to us and our kids in a way they could understand. They were so supportive and kind that I couldn't imagine another place that would treat us so kindly. Are their times when the front desk people aren't the best? Yes. But they're human and that stuff happens. Don't act like you've never had a bad day. read more
