My husband and I loved this Inn! Accommodations were great! We ate in their wonderful restaurant 2 nights. The food was delicious and reasonably priced! Ashley is 1 of the owners and is perfect in making things run smoothly and making guests feel very welcome. Her husband is the chef and very good at what he does. Ask for Bethany as your server. She's excellent! We highly recommend this inn to enjoy whenever you have the opportunity. We will be back! Ate here for a sunset dinner at the end of August while in town visiting Alpena, MI. The betters are served with a warm, fresh loaf of bread which I recommend you pair with the French onion soup. We had the wallet and Tuscan chicken which were both done nicely. The cocktails were below average, espresso martini was mostly just a cream. Almost a milkshake. Our service was smooth and fine. Overall a pretty pricey place, but worth it if you're looking to shake things up with a nice dinner out of town on the water. We have been coming here for years. We had a party of 6. The lobster bisque was good. Three of us had the walleye it was pan fried with the skin on with bones big sigh was not expected to have minimal taste. One had steak over cooked No prime rib tonight. My husband and I stayed here last minute for our anniversary, as another nearby place had to cancel due to power outage. The staff on the phone were very accommodating and polite. We reserved a king room, lake view. Upon arrival, we went to where the check in area would be and there was a bulletin board with envelopes with different peoples names on them. We found ours. No employee member greeted us, or went over any amenities they have. As this was a last minute stay we didn't really know what the place offered besides a restaurant. We went upstairs to our room, following a map that was posted on the bulletin board, We had to go into one building, than outside again and into another building to get to our room. (A little strange) The room was a very clean and seemed to have everything we needed. A stunning view of the lake! However, there was no real air conditioning. When we got to our room there was a "window" unit in the wall, turned on, but the room was HOT. So we turned up the unit and left for a while. (I couldn't nap in a hot room like that.) The room was dated and when my husband tried to shower in their stand up shower, he had to crouch down to get under the shower head. There also seemed to be some issue with the water temp changing while you are showing, no matter where you set the handle, it would get intensely hot or cold after about 2 minutes. Overall, the king bed was immensely comfortable and I slept really well once the room cooled down. There was a flat screen tv with plenty of options to watch, a basket with snacks and drinks, and a coffee kurig in the room. There is no access to the water, no beach. There is only a boat dock. Couldn't even put our feet in the water from the dock, which bummed me out. The restaurant was okay, the food was decent, but they were out of stock on a lot of basic items. The interior of the restaurant was dated, but staff were friendly. We were dressed up, celebrating out anniversary. The waitress didn't ask if we were celebrating anything. This seems to be the place that a lot of the local residents of retirement age, drive there boat across the lake to have lunch. Nobody under 50 besides us. If given the choice, I don't think I would stay here again. The people were nice, the bed was comfortable. But just not what we were looking for. read more

My husband and I literally stumbled upon the Churchhill Pointe Inn and are we glad we did! Hubbard Lake was not on our travel itinerary, but due to a change in plans, we were fortunate to stay here for two nights. Ashley was our first contact and she is efficient, helpful, welcoming and an all around nice young woman! We were pleased by the size of our room, the comfort of the bed and the quality of the towels, sheets & pillows. Our breakfast basket contained juice, muffins, breakfast bars, fresh fruit and homemade cookies. We spent the afternoon and both evenings on the deck reading and watching the boats go by. We also had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners. He made us feel very welcome and asked that we let him know if there was anything we needed. Our second evening, we made reservations to eat in the restaurant. It's a lovely large room with a separate bar area. They have champagne ON TAP! and it's delicious. Our meals were outstanding and so beautifully presented. We learned that the chef (the owners' son) is self-taught. Well, he has studied well and we were so pleased to enjoy two very delicious meals and homemade sour dough bread. There are bikes and a kayak for guest use. We took the bikes out for a ride. It was a little cool to take the kayak out. It's a beautiful area to take a walk as well. It is true that the rooms are on the second floor and there is not an elevator, so be aware that if your bags are heavy like ours, you'll get a small workout. It is truly worth it for such a lovely place!!! read more

We made our reservation through Expedia and received confirmation via: email. Upon arrival, they couldn't locate our reservation but they were quick to accommodate us and put us in the "crow's nest." I wish I could have taken the bed home with me! I had the best nights sleep!!! The views from our room were exceptional and the breakfast basket every morning was an extra treat. Special thanks to Ashley for all she did to make sure we had an amazing week and for promptly following up when we needed anything in our room. We also dined in the restaurant and a great meal. Visited by boat on a beautiful summer evening with my wife, sat inside with a wonderful view of the lake. All of the staff is so friendly at this family run business. Their lobster bisque is my favorite and I've never had better anywhere else. I had the stuffed whitefish which was delicious. The sauce drizzled on top and the crabmeat stuffing both turn the fish into a moist delight. My wife enjoyed her NY strip steak though I personally don't see why she thinks a steak should be well done. The Michigan salad and fresh warm bread to start were also perfect. Just the drive to this restaurant is beautiful and once you get there it's even more worth the trip. The restaurant sits in Hubbard Lake and is a true gem of the area. I have to say thanks to yelp and even urbanspoon for pointing this place out. We have been coming to our property in Hillman for quite a while (in fact since I was a kid) we had always ate in downtown Hillman. Sadly downtown Hillman as wonderful as it is really doesn't have anywhere to eat. So, I started looking around for new places. I'm not going to knock the place we ate at the previous night in Alpena. The cellar was a great dining experience. However, this place blew every other place I've ever eaten at out of the water. Having been to many restaurants in my life as I've traveled many places I can tell you this was an incredible dining experience. I knew when I sat down and ordered water with lemon and the waitress brought out a little cocktail glass with lemon on the lip that I was in a place that paid attention to detail. We had originally come to try the whitefish, but my dad and I changed our mind when we asked about the roast half duckling entree. He ordered it with a salad, and I ordered mine with French Onion And an appetizer of escargot. My mom ordered the lightly breaded pan fried lake perch with a Michigan salad as well. I will say that the bread that came with dinner was the best sourdough bread I've ever eaten, and could have made a meal just out of it. Enough about that, now on to the meals. The escargots were excellent served in a traditional aluminum plate piping hot in garlic butter, and they were excellent. The French onion was absolutely the best I've ever had not too oniony had a nice chunk of sourdough bread and a nice sized slice of cheese on it and was piping hot. My parents salads were excellent thanks to the fact that my mom let me taste hers. What really stuck out was the fact that they were tossed and had dried cherries blues cheese crumbles and pecans on them. Last but not least the entrees were absolutely delicious. I usually stick to eating half of my meal, and probably should have. However, it was so delicious that I ate it all. I even ate the skin off of the duck as it was lightly coated in a raspberry orange glaze and served on a bed of wild rice. My dad and I completely agreed that it was the best meal we've ever had. The glaze wasn't too sweet and the rice was outstanding. My moms perch was excellent too. She gave me a little sample and it was very lightly breaded and wasn't greasy at all and was full of flavor. Hands down this place had the best dining experience I've ever had. My family agreed that it was the best they'd ever had as well. We will definitely be back as soon as we can. read more

What a great place to get away! We stayed in their bed and breakfast unit called the "apartment" for 3 nights and loved every minute of our time there. The owners were gracious and helpful and did everything they could to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Great atmosphere, great food, absolutely beautiful and peaceful. My fiance and I spent last weekend at Churchill Pointe Inn, and honestly, we are already planning our return trip! Churchill Pointe Inn was a lovely, relaxing spot for a weekend getaway. The owners are wonderfully kind and helpful and made us feel like we were family, and the bartender provided us with a wealth of information about the area. The food was WONDERFUL -- we ate better than we had in a long time. The sourdough bread with dinner was delicious, and the made-to-order breakfast included in our room fee was outstanding (I had french toast, coffee, juice, a fruit plate and a muffin each morning; sausage was also available, as was an omelette). Dinner was not necessarily cheap, but the food quality was excellent, and we'd easily have spent 25% more to have this same meal around home. The Inn is old and the rooms have "old school charm," but the beds and overall accommodations were quite comfortable. Our room overlooked the lake, and was hands down the cleanest room I've ever stayed in (and I travel extensively for work). My only slight negative about the room was the size of the shower -- it was a very tight shower stall. Had it been a little bigger, I'd have given this a five-star review (as it is, I debated between four and five stars). I don't want to gush too much about this place, as I'm afraid everyone will hear about it and I won't be able to get a room. :) But seriously, if you are traveling to upper Michigan or are just seeking a quiet, romantic getaway, this is the place for you! read more

Twice now we have been there since our purchase of a Lake house on the west shore. The Prime Rib was outstanding and I had that both times. My Father raved about the perch, my Mother thought the shrimp scampi was weak. My boy, who generally eats duck often, left his alone and ate other things. The Michigan salad was about the best I have had, and they do a good job in the bar. I will go back, they are definitely on the right track and the service is top notch. They also are genuinely friendly and let you know they appreciate your business. The restaurant is decorated perfectly and sits right on the lake. The view could not be better, and you are not deprived of it no matter where you sit. read more

This one takes a little navigation but is well worth the trip. On the north shore of Hubbard Lake, the dining room has a wall of windows with a beautiful view. Michigan salad full of dried cherries to start. A round loaf of homemade bread on the table. I needed another hour to study the gourmet menu, but ordered crab cakes that were browned to perfection. Good portion and a nice, light sauce. Served with boiled, buttered potatoes and huge roasted carrots. Probably should have passed, but I dug right in to the large slice of Key Lime pie for dessert. The pie was incredible. Very good service. Limited hours this time of year, they close in October I believe. read more

The food here is consistently great. We've come many times for dinner or lunch/brunch and it is always good. If the weather is nice, the deck is a great place to dine. The servers seem to be consistently undertrained, particularly when it comes to beverages. If you want to order a glass of wine, a bottle of wine or a top shelf martini; good luck. They rarely can discuss any of the wines or top-shelf liquors. Considering that martinis are $10+ and some of the bottles of wine near the $100 mark, this is a little silly. They are always very friendly however and we have always had a pleasant experience. read more

Beautiful spot on Hubbard Lake. Front porch needs a paint job. Otherwise inside very nice. Not busy on Wednesday night July 4. Great service. Prices just a little high for this area. $25 for lake perch dinner, $28 for huge prime rib dinner. Both dinners were cooked perfectly, delicious! Sourdough bread crusty outside, soft & chewy inside. Local craft beer on tap delicious. Whiskey sour plenty of whiskey. Recommend for a special occasion or if you don't mind the prices. read more

Churchill Pointe Inn Restaurant is a true gem in Northern Michigan! We visited multiple times this past summer and each time we experienced exceptional service, food and ambiance whether we enjoyed happy hour on the deck or a delicious meal in the dining room, or wonderful drinks in the separate bar area. As one reviewer states, they have champagne on tap and I have to agree with her, it is amazing! My favorite appetizers are the steamed mussels and also the ahi tuna. I absolutely love the perch dinner. My husband loves the prime rib and has never been disappointed in portion size or quality of the cut. Atmosphere felt like I was eating at a church! It is the only place on the lake and they have a dress code. Food was all right but not great for the price. I feel they should open it up to be a great casual bar/restaurant and welcome everyone inside. Plenty of boaters on the water, many with money and a desire to drink a cold one. read more

Terrible service. Ordered crab stuffed white fish that was a muddy brown color stuffed with odd tasting (maybe canned) crab product and a nice thick fatty skin was left on in the interior where stuffed so it had to be completely pulled apart. Told the waitress about it and she said 'sorry'. It was unedible Waitress never offered a new dish. Waitress never came back cash us out so we took the check to the hostess stand and told the manager and hostess about our experience and got a 'sorry'. Will never go back. Don't waste your money. It's pricey but you are not paying for quality food. read more
