I went here last month to get some food. I was little hungry at that time. 1 pc combo ($8.95) was impressive. Chicken and fries were fresh and crispy. Chicken was steamy hot as I was about to pull skin off. That's how fresh it was. They no longer served crinkle fries, but gave same ones you see from Costco. Seating spaces are small so takeout is recommended. No key is required to use the washroom. Staffs were friendly and helpful. It was a toss up between Pelicans or Churches Chicken. Since have never had Churches Chicken and for Yelp's sake, bit the bullet and ordered a 3 piece combo from a few hundred chicken they have cooked in warming tray. How bad can it be? Actually they were hot juicy and tasty. For 10$, it is million miles better than the Michelin starred Iden by Quan Je Deu which were tasteless (which charged 50$ for same amount of chicken.) Service was decent. One star. Chicken was tasty and juicy. One star. Well maintained and clean venue. One star. Fries coldish. No star. I took the train from Burnaby just to come try this place because of the reviews - and wow!! I could spend as much at KFC and end up with less food - and the fried chicken is almost a religious experience for how fast food fried chicken can be, especially the spicy white meat pieces. The jalapeno bombers are yummy, and spicier than I expected. I can't say the gravy is good, it tastes like it came as a powder originally - but it has a unique taste that kept me dipping. 5/5 will make this a destination any time I visit the lower mainland. The cons don't make a dent in the pros. Pros: large fresh white meat pieces - and spicy is amazing Large portion sizes As far as fast food chicken goes - this is worth praying for. Cons: some fruit flys buzzing around Greasy floor - it is a deep fried chicken place though Fries and gravy are - meh. I love church's but this location is such a disappointment. Staff was rude; practically threw my take out bag on the counter...but the worst part was the food. They just put everything in the same box, there's no clue which is the spicy and not as the chicken is everything the same appearance(all of the chicken is overcooked).. the only way to know if it's spicy is you need to try all.. read more

Freakin perfect crispy exterior and juicy inside every single time and they let me sub the drink out for gravy as well as making sure to always tell me if I can get a better deal. Normally I would never use skip the dish to order anything but I moved to this area and the day of I ordered this for pick up. I was expecting for a below average meal but this place turned out to be the best Church's I've ever been to.. from the Mexicana sandwich and chicken to the fries and simply the honey butter biscuit... man I've never had a moist biscuit like this before, I'd usually get it and it would be dry.. I came to think that it was normal for it to be dry but this place changed my mind.. During the time there were also only 2 workers, they seemed to have a pretty big rush given skip and local customers but these two played this out better than a group of 5. I was astounded by the quality of my order given their circumstance...mind you that I had walked about a 4 min walk to pick up the food and it was -5 at the time. I was still able to enjoy nothing but juicy and crispy chicken. To the shift leader Rihot who made my order, thank you for the love and rhythm you deliver while working behind the counter. They took my girlfriend's new credit card away when she got the pin wrong over an order of gravy. They came in, bought chicken and decided before they left to get gravy. My girlfriend gave her mom her credit card, and her mom got the pin wrong. The cashier took the credit card and refused to give it back after seeing ID. A cashier should not be doing this, and should not be taking other people's property without permission. read more

The chicken is fine, but highly suggest the management here learn how to train staff do things quickly. This is the slowest place I've ever seen. I ordered on the app 20min ahead and still need to wait in the restaurant another 20 min, and they checked the order on their pad when I asked. So they just doing nothing until the customer show up and ask...? ?not expecting a warm service but god can people just really prepare the orders and pass it to customer when they step in! Church's recently changed their menu, which I'm sad about but not why this review. The following is an experience I have never had before. I ordered a 4 piece mix, regular fries and small gravy. The lady stated the price, which I thought was too high after doing some quick math in my head so I reiterated my order to her, she acknowledged and said the same price, so I asked for an itemized receipt. The only way to see this is after I pay? Fine. Sure enough, the receipt shows large gravy instead of small, a $2 before tax difference. We spend the next minute arguing about how she thought I said large and I said no, I said small. Then she spends a few minutes manually calculating the difference and proceeds to hand me back $1.05. I point at the menu and tell her this isn't right because the small is $2 less than the large, and that's before tax. She looks at the menu, looks at the register, and tells me there is only regular gravy and large gravy. I point at the menu again and state that it clearly says 3 sizes of gravy right on your menu. She looks at the menu again, looks at the register again, and firmly sticks to her "there are only 2 sizes" story. I'm flabbergasted and unsure if this woman is plain stupid or a really good manipulator. There's a long line up behind me, my child is waiting for food and I was too shocked and tired to argue further. My food never tasted worse.
