This place has been here for long and it was only now that i got a chance to pay a visit. Parking is free but limited, this place is small ore on to go gis, but there few seats inside now that its covid era maybe around 10 persons. Theres a lot to choose from the menu, same with other restaurants that serves fried chicken. Excellent service the crew when i came were all very friendly, busy place aside from diners lining up the skip the dishes guys lining up too. I loved the chicken, i had the regular all thigh combo, crispy outside tender from the inside, the thing that catches my taste bud was their gravy, i've been around but theirs is one of the best, not so salty but there is something in there that taste it so good for me. After hearing so many things about high 5 chicken, I finally got some to try. For some reason, everytime I buy fried chicken, I must always get gravy. I bought the 10 pc thigh and leg for 23/24$ and I got fried and half spicy half regular. I also got a medium gravy When I got home, it was hard to tell which ones were spicy and which ones weren't. They were quite dark and hard to tell the difference. They were also huge and looked as if it was pre-made or refried from last night. But it wasn't because it was fresh, juicy and crunchy!! I love church's and la chicken but this is good too. To me, the inside is juicy like church's and the outside is crunchy like LA's chickens spicy fried chicken but crunchier (like how KFC crunchy use to be). I believe its double fried for it to be this crunchy. The spice level is good, its not as spicy as the ones at church's, but it is a bit spicier than LA chicken (for those sensitive to spice like my mom). One thing that I really noticed is that its salty. Its not a bad thing bc I like it salty, but that's one thing that stood out to me, but it does make the chicken taste great. Last, I ordered the medium gravy because its just a must and not I don't dip my chicken in it lol. My Dad and I aren't a fan of the gravy, it was very liquidy and didn't have any taste. I came here to grab a quick dinner for my family. Here is what we ordered : Family pack of 10 with 2 large sides. Fries 2 mashed potatoes ( the mash is not powdered ppl) Mac and cheese wedges Corn Gravy. Now I give this place a five mostly because of the amazing service I received today! I'd like to thank Rheka ( I apologize if I misspelled it) but she made my meal taste even better just from her kindness alone. She asked if I had tried their roasted chicken. I said no because I usually order their fried chicken. So she gave me two pieces to try out ( good way to introduce other items from the menu btw) I thanked her kind gesture and she notified me that she was not able to provide a full serving of mash so she provided me with extra items on the menu. She also gave me some spicy sauce on the house as she knew I did like spicy food. If they had that popular tiktok food critic Keith Lee experienced what I experienced I'm confident he would have wrote the same review as me. Sometimes in shops like this, the workers and customers expect a sub par experience because of the more affordable fast food environment. Providing a little more customer service for your customers really goes a long way! I wished more employees took pride and treated their customers like this. She was definitely the topic of discussions during dinner time. Now if only we could experience more of this type of customer service especially with fast food joints it would be awesome. I stopped coming here because I was routinely disappointed. I stopped on my way home because I was exhausted, and it was there. What a mistake I bought the 8 piece with Fries and Gravy. The fries have no crispness to them you have to let them cook if i had wanted mushy potatoes I would have ordered mashed potatoes. The eight Piece was 2 thighs and all the rest drumsticks I guess that's all they had, but I'm not that fond of drumsticks, and would of either waited for real chicken or gone elsewhere. Legit fried chicken place that has replaced the Vietnamese restaurant. This place gives Church's and LA a run for their money. I'm guessing they're trying to compete with Church's more as they are also 24h. Parking is awful in the tiny strip mall lot. Try the side streets instead. The inside is quite bare bones. Looks like a cafeteria. Staff were friendly. Quite a few people working there. The chicken is wee bit pricey at $2-3 a piece, but that's in line with the competition. I got a kick out of their drink cups. They use the vintage Pepsi logo. Haven't seen one of those in decades. Lastly, the chicken is nice and juicy. The potato wedges are pretty tasty too. I love food. And I love carbs. I have those days when I crave good burgers and fries and pops but I still choose places where I would get fresh ingredients and feel good after eating. We went there after our sauna session and we were STARVING. We had a huge variety of chicken to try. Hi Five Chicken gives you options for regular/spicy and for fried or baked chicken. Both baked and fried chicken were juicy and delicious. Their fried chicken was the winner though. It was crispy to the last bite. Honestly if you have fried food cravings it's definitely a place to do it. Spicy options are really nice as well. The chicken pieces are really good size, really moist, not dry and there is plenty of meat so it's a really good deal for a really good quality. I had a Veggie burger ( yeah I am that person, I get a veggie burger at the chicken place...) the patty was juicy and tender, and my rosemary-garlic seasoned wedge fries were so delicious, better than regular fries they had a nice crisp to the exterior. I loved it! I loved my meal! :) I got a hot apple pie after too! Yummy! I was satisfied with our visit. Definitely recommend - quality food, fast service. I spontaneously came across Hi Five as I was in the area and decided to stop by because I've heard good things about their chicken sandwich. Just my luck, I happened to come on a day where they were completely sold out of fries!! I'm not joking.... no fries!! It was because their delivery was running late. It was rather disappointing but oh well. They offered potato salad as a substitute for the same price. I asked if I could get a poutine or something else but they said it was not possible to make any exceptions... The homestyle chicken sandwich was huge and they used a very meaty piece of chicken. I feel like I'm a fried chicken connoisseur... whenever I hear of a fried chicken place I make it a point to go try it out. I've driven by and been around HiFive 24 for a while. Finally got a chance to try it out today for lunch. I ordered the 3 piece meal. Comes with 3 pieces of fried chicken, fries (I got onion rings instead) and a fountain drink. Worked out to be a little over $12. Guess it's reasonable. The Onion rings were ok. I bit dry and nothing to write home about. The fried chicken was common tasting. To me it tasted a lot like Church's Fried Chicken only not as oily. In the end HiFive 24 is ok. Unfortunately there's nothing special here. I'm a weekly Church's Chicken feaster and a couple of my friends asked if I had tried HiFive24 yet. I haven't but have driven by numerous times on the way to Superstore. Last night I was driving by and decided to take the plunge. Felt a little bit of guilt betraying my normal chicken go to spot. Parking is ridiculous here. Extremely narrow. Do yourself a favour and park on Main Street and walk a wee bit. Decided to order the 12 piece drumsticks. Half regular and half spicy. Assessment: Crispy skin, not dry inside, not greasy as well, fair size, has nice flavour. I've tried LA Chicken and i would say it is comparable to them. The 2 cashiers in front were very friendly and personable. Got my order to go, she asked what condiments I wanted and smiled and said "enjoy". Decided to try this place after a glowing review from my favourite yelper. I ordered a meal combo, but due to the heavy accent of my server, there was some miscommunication. No problem, he ended up giving me free fries when I brought this discrepancy to his attention. Spicy chicken was crunchy and wedge fries were a nice change from the usual straight cut type. In the whole debate over who has the best fast food fried chicken in town... for my money, it's always been Church's over KFC. Of course, LA Chicken beats all of them but I put LA Chicken in a whole other class by themselves. So, when I saw that there's a new fast food place that sells not only fried chicken but baked chicken... I was intrigued. Plus, they're open 24 hours to boot! We stopped by one night with a hankering for chicken and got their 4 piece meal ($12.49 with wedge fries and a drink) along with a medium potato salad ($3.49) and a medium gravy ($2.59). Wanting to try their different choices, we got a mix of baked and fried chicken and a mix of their regular and spicy. The meal comes with legs and thighs and they gave us an extra drumstick since one of the pieces was on the small side. Both their baked and fried chicken had nice, moist flesh but I preferred their fried chicken the best. The spicy variety had a good heat to it and the fried chicken skin had a very crispy crunch to the bite. The seasoned wedge fries turned out quite good as well with a slight crisp to the exterior. While still not a match for LA Chicken, Hi Five 24 is a tasty alternative to Church's Chicken. read more

Tried Hi-Five for the first time the other day. I got the chicken strips, mac and cheese bites, biscuits and fries. The chicken strips were AMAZING due to their extra crispy crunchy batter and lots of meat, however I wish the chicken strip was a bit more juicy and flavourful. The mac and cheese bites were nice, soft, gooey and cheesy. I reccomend skipping the biscuits and fries, the have no flavour and are extremely dry, the fries have no crunch and are just soggy in oil. Their house sauce isn't good either, it's spicy but not the good kind - way too overpowering. The honey garlic sauce was good though but a bit watered down so it was hard to coat the chicken strips. Currently my first visit to this location. Upon entry the location wasn't very busy which is great for me in a rush, I ordered a 4 piece to try all the chicken as they offer baked, fried, and spicy (ordered a breast additionally) For a first go around, here is my general opinion. Appearance wise, the chicken looks good. The breast (while very small - not worth the additional charge) had flavour but would be better as spicy. The tandoori baked was mildly spiced, basic flavour and a good option for baked. The spicy was a thigh piece and had good flavoring (but a mild hint of Indian spices) if you are used to the KFC type chicken, it might toss you back a bit. The chicken in general was good, the manager was super friendly and a nice guy. My recommendations, try the spicy and regular fried. Pay the substitute fee of 50 cents per price and load yourself up with thigh pieces! Worth a visit if you are in the area, just make sure you come during a busy time and get some hot and fresh chicken. I can see where the spices really pop if the chicken is fresh. Ordered a 2 piece fried combo and 3 piece baked, both spicy. The service was great, 5 stars for that. So first the baked chicken, the pieces were smaller and so i was given an additional piece. The taste was ok. It tasted like the only flavour used on the chicken was chilli. Next the fried chicken, it tasted better for obvious reasons. Not as salty as other fried chicken places. The taste was good, but could improve. The potato wedges were all stuck together. Not sure why, but its first time i saw that. Customers who like wedges will enjoy these. It did have good flavour and a good portion size. Just my opinion of couple of things to improve: 1) Provide a hot tea option. After eating greasy food, many people prefer a hot drink to wash away the grease. 2) Provide a regular french fries option. What can I say I was a bit underwhelmed. Though nicely battered it still does not top Church's. Church's still has the best batter recipe. Although it does taste better than KFC original recipe, though that is not a high bar to overcome. To the credit of Hi 5 , they were big pieces. Okay wedges. The gravy was quite good, as was the coleslaw. Looks like Jolibee can't open soon enough so metro Vancouver can have more fried chicken options. Or how about Chick-Fil-A & Bojangles. To be clear, I think Church's Chicken makes the best fried chicken in Metro Vancouver. LA Chicken just doesn't measure up for me (and I'm probably one of the few Richmondites who feels this way). So when I heard Hi Five 24 had been vetted by yelpers as being on par with Church's, I knew I had to give it a try! Me and the crew ordered 10 pieces of chicken à la carte, a large box of the potato wedges and some of the red pepper poppers. Now fried chicken is one of those foods that, if eaten every day, would literally make you want to throw up (no one wants to be a human oil vat after all). But when eaten in moderation, yum! Nothing is quite so satisfying as gnawing on a chicken leg and letting your inner caveman/cavewoman come out. Okay, first things first. The fried chicken was delicious. Our order was piping hot, with a crunchy, crispy skin that was dry, and not oily. When biting into the chicken, however, I found that there was a bit of oil (more than the average order at Church's but not enough to be off-putting. Fried chicken without oil, is like Vancouver without rain. It's nice when it happens, but don't expect it to be the norm). Even though we ordered the spicy fried chicken, it wasn't quite spicy (or even salty) enough for me. I can definitely see why some reviewers said the chicken was bland. It defintely wasn't as flavourful as Church's chicken. But the chicken was tender enough and juicy enough, that I still enjoyed it and even had seconds. If you like milder chicken, than Hi Five will probably satisfy your needs. If you need some serious spice, then you need to look elsewhere. I have to say, I was very impressed by the sheer enormity of the chicken. These chicken pieces were HUGE. I can't stress this enough. If you ever went to a fried chicken place, and felt cheated because the chicken pieces were tiny, you should come to Hi Five. The thigh pieces were as big as dinosaur bones. I don't know where they source their chicken from (probably from the same island that those Jurassic Park dinosaurs were cloned on), but it must be a trade secret because I've never seen chicken this big. If you like a deal, you will definitely get your money's worth! The potato wedges has a nice rosemary-garlicky flavour. I liked how they were soft, but not soggy. Wish the portion size for the wedges had been bigger though, but I guess they thought the gargantuan chicken pieces would keep us full (they were right). I really enjoyed the red pepper poppers, which were a variation of the jalapeño bombers served at Church's. I actually enjoyed the red pepper poppers more the jalapeño bombers. The burst of red pepper flavour, combined with gooey cheese and crisp breading was truly masterful. A standout menu item, it is a must-try. On the whole, Hi Five left my wallet empty and my belly full. I felt like a beached whale after the proceedings. Honestly, what more could a die-hard foodie ask for? read more

After visiting this location a couple of dozen times, my only complaint was having to wait for my white meat order to be cooked, and they diet have the brownies I ordered. But that meant getting fresher chicken, and not having the brownies I really shouldn't have. Today that all changed. I went in and ordered my usual 2 piece all white dinner. When I get home, I discover that I have been given a leg and what is supposed to be a thigh, but was more back bone and skin, which only a nugget of actual chicken meat. This happened before and is why I order all white, so I guess another complaint. I call of advise of the wrong order, and was told they would offer me free white meant on y next visit. I tried to eat what was given to me, this is when I discovered there really wasn't any meat. I returned to the location to get what I ordered, and waited close to half an hour for my replacement. I commented on the larger box, and was told they were giving me extra chicken. I thanked them and left. When I checked the box before leaving, again they screwed up and only gave me chicken. I walked back in and advised the issue. The girl said she thought I only wanted the chicken replaced. I apologized to the girl and manager that I might be acting very rudely, but was very angry and the mistake, very hungry cause I was hungry an hour ago when I originally ordered, and was feeling sick to begin with. I calmly told them to keep their chicken, and that I was so disappointed by what happened that they officially lost me as a customer. The best part of my meal was the Pepsi. The fried chicken is bland and does not have a good consistency in the batter. The chicken and batter even seemed dried out. They get five thumbs down for any flavour. I asked for two pieces of white meat and paid the extra $1.50 and ended up with two pieces of dark meat. The staff here are decently nice and usually attain to your needs. However, today I was given RAW chicken. I ordered thee home style spicy burger and when I took the first bite I noticed there was still some blood that was "cooked" and the chicken itself was pink and purple. I went back and showed them my burger and they were quick to fix it (hence why I'm willing to give 2 a stars instead of 1). But I couldn't even finish my burger because my stomach started feeling uneasy and I was very nauseous. I recommend getting the spicy fried chicken. I has a good amount of spiciness and crispy skin. It's a nice alternative to LA chicken in Richmond if you don't want to drive out that far.
