A Shining Example of Church's Texas Chicken! As a lower mainland fried chicken aficionado, I've tried them all, and Church's is no exception. I stopped by this East Side location for a quick bite and was thoroughly impressed. The chicken was fantastic--decently sized pieces, piping hot, not greasy, and amazingly tender and juicy on the inside. It absolutely hit the spot. What truly stood out, however, was the impeccable cleanliness and service. Even post-lunch rush, the dining area was spotless. A staff member was quietly but constantly wiping down tables and sweeping the floor without stirring up a fuss. This attention to detail was happening behind the counter, too. The counter staff were courteous and my order was ready in minutes. Everyone around me seemed just as happy and satisfied. This location has set a new standard. I had the 7 pieces summer special pack for $19.95 and the Chicken Thighs were huge in comparison and the drum sticks were pretty good sized as well. Service was as good as any fast food restaurant, no better no worse. Ambiance is clean and eatable however it is strange that this Venue has no washroom facilities. read more

So my buddy buys a takeout box of chicken from here (12 piece dark according to him) to share. We open the box and there are nothing but drumsticks in there. Every other time he or I have ordered from here, it has always been a mix of thighs and drumsticks, not just drumsticks. Everyone knows that drumsticks are smaller than thighs, so this was already a disappointment. But the real kicker was that there were only 10 pieces instead of 12. We were both pretty choked. What a rip. Moral of the story - check the contents of the box before leaving the store. I can't believe I actually have to count the pieces from now on. This Church's Chicken has been here for a long long time. I used to live about 15 mins drive away and would pick up fried chicken here. So Came by recently to pick up a quick chicken burger. Their chicken here is not wow. This location is super busy around dinner time. At night it is definitely slower. They do fry everything in advance before the order. This makes sense. I mean if they fry the chicken after the customer ordered than I am sure the wait would be even longer. They are located in a very busy location. I had their fried chicken before and if I were to compare this location with the others, I prefer the other Church's Chicken locations. Again... This location is definitely a hit and miss. read more

The service was very friendly and was very helpful I did ask a few questions and she was happy to help! The inside could have used a cleanup though but I noticed only two on and it was steady. I really enjoyed the jalapeño popper fairly large size w lots of little pieces of jalapeño and even the cheese had a tiny bit of kick. Fries were okay no seasoning. That bright yellow building that you see driving down Hastings, that you smell oil, and grease, and just fried chicken goodness! This Church's Chicken has been in this area a long time, and has probably slapped acouple coats of that bright yellow on the side of the building so it sticks out, so even if you don't smell the aroma, it will catch the corner of your eye when your ripping by. This Church's also has a take-out window on the outside if your in a rush, and just can't bother entering the place and walking 10 more steps. Located right next to Donald's Market on Hastings near Nanaimo Street, it seems like there is always someone here, as they are busy with big orders. I have to say that the chicken here seems to be always freshly fried. Watch out, or your might burn your mouth on one of these. When you order spicy, the chicken is really spicy compared to the other locations. The one knock I have to give from trying many of the Church's in town is the gravy, as it is bland and watery compared to the other joints. But when you need a grease fix, here's where it is at, and I rate this way better than KFC. read more

While the chicken is very good, it is irritating that they don't have 'just chicken' on the menu. This is deliberate and done to upsell the add-ons. This place is an institution on Hastings. The chicken is crispy and there is plentiful parking. It saya it is 24 hrs but I have not actually been here past 11. The staff are friendly when you don't know what to order for a side. Usually it will be one of the various salads. The biscuits are pretty decent. Out of all the Churches Chickens in Vancouver, this has to be one of the Churchiest chickens. It has a parking lot, a take out window, a sign that illuminates the street for miles away. Do NOT go to the Churches Chicken on Main Street anymore! They have changed owners and I've been there twice since. The chicken was likely fried twice because it didnt sell, it was dark and burned. I just bought fries yesterday and they were obviously deep fried a second time. I called and will be getting a free box of fries but since the change in ownership, they've gone horribly down hill. When I took my first bite of Church's Spicy Chicken - I was blown away. It is by far the best Fried Chicken I have ever had. Winning me over completely. Service is friendly but however good or bad the service say would be - I would always come back for more spicy chicken! The Chicken is so damn good. The only sad part is, it does not seem to have any franchise in the Edmonton area. So as far as "food" goes it's not terribly good and as far as other fast-food fried chicken joints go it's, uh, on the lower rung. I would put KFC at the top with Church's in a dead-heat with Lee's. But let's be honest, they're all pretty much the same. Generally speaking their chicken is greasy, vein-ridden and over-battered and will probably land you in the bathroom not-soon after consumption. Okay, I was driving around Hasting looking for a quick place to have lunch and found Church's. I have seen Church's before but have never eaten at Church's, so this was my first time. We are talking fast food chicken here so starting from that perspective, it was just okay. It was a bit greasier than Wendy's or KFC. I had the three piece meal that comes with two breasts and a drumstick and some fries. It was $10 bucks and I felt kind of sick when I was done. The fries were not good at all, tasted a bit like cardboard. This location is near the PNE and seemed a bit run down. Not sure if it's family owned, but everyone was Asian and did not speak very good English. You are greeted with a smile and suggestions to up size your meal. Yikes! This place needs help. The place was so dirty. We wanted to dine in, until we walked through the door. Then we immediately asked for it to go instead. The lady working did not understand my questions about the food. I don't know what the point of wearing gloves is because they touch everything with them and then proceed to touch your food. I saw someone putting RAW CHICKEN into the fryer and then continue to prepare someone's food without changing her gloves.. We both got the Tex supreme. One with fries, one with potato salad. The potato salad was decent but the potatoes were pretty crunchy. The sandwich was so spicy I couldn't even eat the whole thing. The menu did not say the chicken sandwich was spicy, because if it did I would not have ordered it. The chicken was crispy which was the only good thing! The attached photos show the condition of the restaurant. I don't know why it wasn't being cleaned up considering there was one person who was going to order behind me, and no one waiting at the window for food. They had at least 4 people working.. I still can't understand how 4 people needed to make 2 orders. The staff was rude and couldn't understand my order, so instead they gave me a side I did not ask for. It was not worth the hassle getting the correct order so I just left with what I had. What a shame.. without the sauce, it would have been a yummy sandwich but I will probably not be back.
