First heard about this churro stand on a food tour in Puerto Vallarta over a year ago, wasn't able to check it out because the tour ended before the stand was open. This guy is an institution of PV. I believe he is the third generation to run this stand - in the same place - for years. He has upgraded his shop with an efficient set up and sometimes he has family members working with him. He's there everyday but one (sorry can't remember which) right outside the church. And boy are they tasty! And inexpensive. I got (3) 6" churros for 10 pesos. Enough to satisfy my sweet tooth! Can you really say you have been to PV if you haven't visited the churro guy? read more

I made it a point this year to get to this churro stand as I found about it too late last year. LOCATION: The Yelp location pin is wrong by a block east. It's located at the corner of Aguacate & Lázaro Cárdenas right by the Iglesia de la Santa Cruz church. No hours are posted but the 5pm start time is accurate. I assumed there'd be a long line and a quick sell out but I saw people carrying the goods well past 8:30pm and no line was there when we went. THE STAND: It's a simple operation and they're made hot and fresh on the spot. A tripod holding up what looks like a big caulking gun is instead full of churro batter, aimed at a bubbling pot of oil. He squeezes them out one by one, cutting them with a swift swipe of a knife. They fry for just a few seconds before being dusted in cinnamon and sugar. MENU: Churros! FOOD: Churros - 3 for 5 pesos (25 cents USD) What a deal! There's nothing like eating them hot. While super crunchy, they weren't thick enough to produce a moist interior which is what makes a churro even more delectable and a bit of a downfall for me. You get the taste of a churro but not the whole package. SERVICE: Not friendly at all. I get it that some tourists can be annoying but he literally barked-back responses to simple questions about price to people before us, a total turn-off to me. Be appreciative that people patronize your biz and don't take them for granted!? OVERALL: Not a repeat for me. I don't know how this man does it. Every day he shows up, sets up his stand and cranks out churro until he runs out of dough. His hours are kind of erratic. I've heard 5 to 8 but I was past today at 530 and he was still setting up. and I've gone by at 9 and he is still there. mind you I am sure there are 5 to 8 dsys. Had dinner and the place had churros on the menu but they ran out. So I found this place on Yelp and was on a hunt for it. It's definitely in an area that's a little less touristy so just be on the lookout for this stand. It's not exactly where the pinpoint is, you might have to go over a block here and there.
