A surprising delicious little Indian food place in Douglas! The menu isn't extensive but everything on it is delicious. Very friendly staff.

Was looking for something besides fast foot while driving through Douglas when I saw this Indian restaurant across the street from my hotel. It was just my 3 year old and I so I figured we could share something since she's always loved Indian food. I was a bit surprised when I pulled up and walked in as it's not at all your typical Indian style looking restaurant. Garry welcomed us in and took us to a table near the bar telling us he loves kids so he likes having them close by and brought her out Connect 4 to play with while we waited for our food. He also offered her a free ice cream if she ate her dinner. Little did he know she would scarf it all down. We ordered the Chicken Korma with Garlic naan and a Mango Lassi. The food didn't take too long to arrive and it was delicious. The Korma was a little spicier than I've had other places but I really enjoyed it. The chicken was tender and juicy and the Korma sauce was so flavorful. My LO sipped some of the Mango Lassi while eating up every last bite to curb the heat. We followed up with an order of Gulab Jamun which came hot and fantastic. Over all the service and food were excellent and I hope all the best for this place and hope it sticks around for a long time so I can visit again next time I am up here. read more

Staying in Douglas for the night and wanted Indian food. Chutes didn't disappoint. It's not a traditional Indian restaurant environment but don't let that prevent you from trying this place. We got the chicken masala and garlic naan. The chicken masala was excellent; the sauce was perfect and the chicken was high-quality. They prepare their naan in a way that's different than any place we've tried, it has a little bit of a light crunch and soft inside. We are from the Bay Area and we eat Indian food all the time and I would rank this place among the top places I've tried in the Bay Area. They have to appeal to a broad audience, so they have things like jalapeño poppers, and mozzarella sticks on the menu. We also got the jalapeño poppers and they were pretty good - nice crunch and you can tell the fryer oil was really clean. The owner came out and made my wife a nonalcoholic drink with mango and mint and it was really good as well. He was a nice personable guy that really seems to care about his customers. If you're in or near Douglas give this place a shot. You can have a meal and then play some darts or pool. read more

The owners are very pleasant and attentive. Decent atmosphere and served immediately. That is the good. I ordered chicken curry which was on the special. It came in a small bowl for $22! Granted I asked for no rice and no naan to reduce carbs But still it was very small. I enjoy curry when I can find it and I am not picky. This, however, only had one note. Just overpowering turmeric. A true find in Douglas. For lovers of Indian food this is an authentic Indian restaurant in a town you may not expect to find authentic Indian cuisine. The naan is actually prepared in a traditional clay tandoori oven and is exceptional. Can't really comment on the food because we didn't get any, in fact we didn't get sat, why? There was nobody there. There is no clear markings on the outside showing where to get in, we asked at the front desk if the Indian restaurant was open and was told yes (Saturday at 1pm) we went inside the restaurant but there was no customers and no staff, after standing there ringing a bell like a sign instructed for some time, nothing. read more

Seated on the bar side as the rest of the restaurant was shrouded in darkness we were bumrushed to a table on what used to be the stage. Came here for lunch after hearing about the delicious curry and came back for dinner in the same day! The food is amazing, the place is huge and very clean! Full bar, pool tables, dart boards and more! All the food is very fresh and made in house not frozen! The owner greeted us and was very nice and even gave us a complimentary cup of chai at the end of our meal to try and like everything else we had was awesome! Randomly discovered this fantastic place. We ordered a lot for two people and everything was better than perfect. The curries were unique to each protein and maximally flavorful. The bar is a bar. Pretty good to great selection of beer and liquor especially for a small town bar. They fairly recently changed the food menu from standard bar fare to a much better selection of appetizers and also have a couple of pages of Indian food. This was an unusual find with something for everyone. This is essentially a very large bar/restaurant with pool table, TVs etc. however the menu offers both American choices and Indian food comparable to that served at any Indian restaurant (and we have visited a lot). Indian dishes are served as a plate (not the family style of most Indian restaurants). Each plate comes with rice and naan. We tried the paneer, chicken tikka masala, and shrimp and potato curry. All were very good. But the highlight of the meal were the naan. They are the best we have tasted in a very long time, crispy but not burnt, soft but not soggy, buttery but not dripping in fat, they were just perfect and highly recommended. read more
