I went here because it was close to a railroad museum in town which was awesome. Unfortunately the Village inn was not that good. I really wanted a breakfast burrito smothered in Green Chili. This was my main goal. It had pork carnitas, pico, sour cream, potatoes, tomatoes and peppers, and lots of cheese. Here is where it went south. The chili was red(even receipt said green chili). I was hoping for a good spicy green chili like they do in this part of the country. The red Chile was bland, the carnitas were skimpy. Over all it was very bland. Even the jalapenos were bland with no heat. It was huge but who wants to eat a lot of bland food. Got ice tea and it had like 5 cubes of ice. If you are a senior citizen who avoids seasoned food this might be your place. I'd avoid though otherwise. I didn't try their pies but I was impressed by the variety. read more

I'm not very sure why this only has 3 stars. I have not read the other reviews. I go by my own opinion, so I will definitely be back at this restaurant! We had wonderful service from our server, Jessika. She was very friendly and pleasant to be around and so efficient. I couldn't do what she is, at 8 months pregnant. You go girl. I only wish every server had her attitude and skills! I ordered a rueben sandwich with onion rings. My friend ordered a BLT with fries. We were lucky enough to be there on Wednesday, when they had free pie... score!!!! I chose the german chocolate and she chose Lemon meringue pie. Thank you for the great service and the great food. The only option for restaurant eats after 8p during Coronavirus closures... so we went! Came in with a Party of 10 and they sat us right away... it was absolutely frigid in there when we first arrived so we asked our server to ease up on the AC and they did. There was a selection of pies in the front but also they offer a huge menu of typical American diner options with one great perk: breakfast served all day. we got 3 burgers, 2 kids meals, 3 breakfasts, 1 biscuits & gravy and mine: a chicken artichoke dish that was actually pretty darn tasty for a diner! Al the burgers were overcooked but the rest of the meals were okay. They had coloring kits for the kids and servers wore masks. The food didn't take too long but it was immediately pretty cold when it arrived due to the air around it. One in our party ordered a cup of soup that was sent back because it was so cold... I get that it's probably warm outside during the peak of the day, but keep an eye on it as night turns because then you're just cooling hot food off. Grateful for the option so late at night during the pandemic... but there are some areas to improve. read more

This restaurant had amazing food and wonderful service, one thing that I didn't enjoy so much was as I was eating my meal I over heard the manager being very rude and disrespectful to all the waitresses, I understand if your waitresses have side work to do but it does not seem so necessary for you to be loud and disrespectful about it, my waitress Kaitlyn was very nice and quick with my food and I loved that. Don't even get me started on this 'restaurant'. Myself and many others feel it's an insult to every restaurant in general to call this unprofessional mess as such. Four other people and myself chose this place over the Pizza Hut next door because the Pizza Hut was empty. Literally EMPTY, some horror movie type shit. At least 15 minutes after we have already chosen our order, we did eventually get our order taken. Im making a whole new paragraph for the proses of our order for good reason. The man that took our order was nice, just difficult and complicated as a waiter. WHICH is not his fault. It WAS NOT his job to take our order at all, he saw how long we have already waited and decided to take our order. He in fact was the 'bus boy' or someone who cleans tables. We got a hint something was off because he didn't have a proper sheet to take our order, nor did he take orders per usual for a waiter. Once again, not his fault! He wrote down our orders and off he went. Once again making another paragraph about this place, now the food and wait. After we ordered our food, it took a little over an hour to get our food. With all due respect, I know it does not take that long to make food. We kept ourselves entertained by stacking up the jelly containers and Bs'in around the whole time. Someone I was with was able to download yelp, make an account, write a review, then post it before we got our food all on THEIR FREE WIFI. Its genuinely impressive how long it took. Then once our food got out to us, Everyone had their drink, everyone had their food, except me . I was perplexed. I had chicken strips, fries, and an iced coffee. I know it does not take an hour to fry chicken, I know it does not take an hour to make fries. It doesn't even take an hour total to make it all! Im just confused at this point what was happening behind the scenes. The food was pretty alright if I'm being honest, nor was the price bad. It was about 15 bucks for my meal, and it was 2.75 for my coffee. Not worth the money nonetheless, but it is what it is. Service was terrible... A big group of us had spent over 2 and a half hours in there. We had asked for ranch and didn't receive it until 15 minutes later. Found a hair in our fries and some of the food was not cooked well. We had witnessed workers in the back not serving anyone when we were still waiting for food after about an hour and two of the workers were found making out. Someone had found a waiter in the bathroom vaping as well. Saturday nights are not a good shift to get a good meal for a big group of people. Where do I start. We were weary travelers just wanting a place to rest and get a good meal. Village Inn is something we have enjoyed in other cities so it seemed like a safe bet. I should have taken pics. We were taken to a booth--then told to wait because it was still dirty. (Covid seating) Under the booth was covered with food. It was so disgusting. No offer to clean that up. We were expected to sit in it. Most employees stood around but they couldn't keep the place clean. The walls were filthy. The food was ok. My fries were cold and the chicken noodle soup had a wang to it. Our waitress was the only employee working hard. She was getting no support and the owner of this restaurant is failing his business by not keeping it clean. read more

There's nothing wrong with this place. It's a successful chain in this area of the country, and the Douglas restaurant holds up to the name. The food is pretty good and the service is usually quick. I don't think there's a better time for the Village Inn than breakfast, but they are open for all three of your day's meals! Of course their pies are pretty delicious. I just tried the new Mint Brownie Explosion pie and it was amazing. The only thing that could really drastically improve this place would be later hours (for those hungry nights after the bars close), but that probably won't ever happen... On a side note--they have recently gone completely non-smoking which is a huge plus to most people. But you smokers will have to take it outside... sorry! read more

Not really expecting much will be to your benefit here. The breakfast is totally decent; traditional short order fare, however I have yet to have a lunch or dinner that isn't awful. Fish and chips - burned fish, soggy chips. Tartar sauce? Oh, here's some prepackaged containers. Chicken parmigiana - Over cooked chicken, cold noodles, and a puddle of water in the bottom. Salad - Wilted lettuce with more prepackaged dressing. Pies are fine, soups are fine. Strawberry lemonade is also pretty decent. read more

The Village Inn chain has lost a lot of its luster over the years and after our visit this afternoon, I believe they have hit rock bottom. As my wife and I walk into the restaurant, three employees are sitting outside, sitting on plastic containers, smoking near the trash dumpsters. Really? Management is ok with this? I wondered if they were really going to wash their hands. That should have been my first warning and we should have turned in the opposite direction in a full sprint. The restaurant was absolutely filthy. The staff was absolutely filthy. Stained clothes, untucked shirts, their hands rubbing their faces and then holding plates, coffee pots and utensils. Why didn't we leave? Oh, yes, we wanted a sit down meal and our choices are limited between Casper and Cheyenne. My wife's first cup of coffee was presented in a completely stained mug. Can we try again? I ordered the chipotle chicken wrap. Wrong! But it looked so nice in the picture. A tightly wrapped flour tortilla, with chicken, shredded lettuce, onions, melted cheese and a strawberry-chipotle sauce. I received a tortilla wrapped by a three year old (I had to rewrap it myself), with huge pieces of lettuce (did you really have to put the whole heart of the iceberg lettuce in the wrap?), a large chunk of onion, with shredded cheese that was not melted. It was garnished by a strawberry that was ripe over a week ago. Oh, and yes, my plate was filthy. After I re-wrapped this garbage myself and took a bite I lost my appetite. I told the waiter and showed her the gross garnish and she removed it from my bill, But no apology, no offer to get me something else. I would have refused anyway. When I paid, the cashier, noticed the void written on the check by the waiter, but she offered no apology or asked any questions. She just voided it and told me the new total. She didn't seemed concerned at all. My wife is a bit more vocal than myself and she then mentioned to the cashier and another employee who was standing nearby the condition of the restaurant. As we left she heard the two employees mutter "snob" to one another. When did cleanliness turn into snobbishness? Goodbye Village Inn! I'm done with you. You have ruined any good feelings I had from my youth. read more

The service here is hit and miss. There are some very attentive folks so theres a chance you get lucky in that area. The food is marginal at best. I live in California and enjoy a bunch of culinary options. The food here is just unimpressive. The people are wonderfully nice though. My husband and I were at village inn last night. The service was horrible. Our waitress never came to our table, she was talking on the phone the entire time. The waitress sent the hostess to our table to take our order. The hostess did as well as she could, no complaints there. The food was good. We couldn't get anyone's attention to get drink refills. I don't know who the waitress was (because she never came to our table) but she definitely did not do her job. This waitress needs to get her priorities straight. There is a time and place for talking on the phone, and at work is not the time or place. I could understand the shitty service if they were busy but there was only one other customer in there at the time. Just before we left a young couple came in, the waitress was all over waiting on them. We will not be returning to this restaurant. This isn't the first time this has happened. read more

If there was lower than 1 star they would get it. Minus a select handful of wonderful ladies that work there the entire rest of the restaurant from front of house to kitchen staff is ignorant and has no place in the food industry. Orders consistently made wrong, food cold, portions regularly inconsistent, heavens forbid you custom build a dish. Do that and the kitchens brain goes on overload and completely shuts down resulting in just another plate of fouled up garbage attempts at breakfast. Then the look of shock when you cancel your order after waiting 25 minutes just to try and get the second plate to not be completely wrong like the first. We stopped in Douglas while on a trip. Although the food was okay, the service was horrible. It was over 40 min to get our food, over 10 min to get a drink order, and the backs of the chairs were terribly sticky. For a reasonable breakfast, we were there over 1 1/2 hours. Although they did their best, I wouldn't stop here unless you had time to blow. The table on either side of us with the same number of people received their food first, which is always irritating when you are in a rush. We will probably never visit this Village Inn again.
