I never write reviews. And I used to like Chuy's. But this was literally the worst meal I've had in a long time. Firstly, the salsa was extremely watery and unappetizing, and the queso was almost as bad. It tasted like fake cheese. I ordered the chimichanga that was most suggested online. It was extremely filling but was disgusting. I also ordered the much-hyped "boom-boom" sauce (which costs $2 extra). NOT WORTH IT! I can't believe how bad my experience was. Met a friend here for dinner over the weekend. We each ordered a drink, my margarita was good. The chips are crisp and light, I really like them. The salsa has a bit of kick to it. The other sauce for chips is good, though in not entirely sure what it was. I had the shrimp tacos for my entree, they were good, but I'm use to most places offering tacos in sets of three, and these are an order of 2, so it wasn't the most filling meal I've ever had. The rice in the side was ok, and I got my order with no beans, because I'm not a fan of refried beans - honestly, it's a texture thing. The atmosphere is fun, the place has a good energy to it. The chips, salsa, and ranch are on point. The chips are super thin, which I enjoy, makes me feel better about eating a ton of them. Thin and salty. We got the shrimp tacos and the comida grande. I stopped in for happy hour and was a little disappointed that this location does not celebrate the end of day quite how my old Nashville location did--with a nacho bar. It was also a paired down menu that did not include my fav variety appetizer that had a little bit of everything. Alas, i chose a meal. We went up to the bar for more drinks after our meal and he did not great us so we ending up leaving. This ended up being a great lunch spot! I ordered steak tacos and it was a huge portion size. The rice and everything that came with it was good. It kind of seemed more like fajitas tacos than what I was expecting, but the flavor was good. My only complaint is the pieces of steak were really big and a little chewy, so it was hard to eat. I ended up using a knife and fork for most of it, so my recommendation would be to make sure any and all steak tacos come in bite sized pieces. read more

I'm giving this location of Chuy's a five star review based on a specific visit to the bar on 11/18/21. Like every restaurant it seems, they were short on help this night and one woman was working the bar and all the tables in the bar area. We sat at the bar and watched her hustle the whole time we were there. She made drinks, took food orders, cleared dishes, refilled tortillas and did it all with a very pleasant attitude, even coaching some other employees with some hints and tricks. The food here is always good. The chips are perfect- warm and salty and that jalapeño ranch dip is addictive! I had a chicken quesadilla that was tasty and plenty of food. Have eaten here plenty of times over the years and don't honestly review chains but figured this was worth reviewing. Went here with 6 other people, pretty much a normal visit until we noticed the stench of rancid piss coming from the men's room filling the dining room every time someone opened the bathroom door. Apparently they have some kind of backflow issue or something with the urinals which has not been addressed. I brought this up to the manager when he walked by because the smell was horrendous. He acted as if he knew nothing about it and kept on moving. Some time later the entrees came. To be honest my food was great as it always is. My sister in laws had a whole toothpick in it. This was addressed and the manager and server were extremely apologetic. This was my 1st time at Chuy's. I realize that is a national chain and that doesn't really effect my opinion on the food, so here I go. Even though they had a limited menu, they still had a decent amount of options. I ordered the steak fajitas...shocker. They were good but lacked a little in the seasoning. The onions and peppers were nicely cooked...and sizzeling...but they didn't seem to be seasoned. The steak was really good though. The portions are generous and the food is decent, but it had that national chain "feel" to it. As part of our pre-meal noshing, we had the taco meat queso. That was quite yummy, so I do recommend that. The chips are a little thin, so be prepared to wear some of it...as I often do. Beans and rice have also been lacking in the flavor department, and the beans have been a bit dried out. These last few plates simply do not justify a four-star rating. We had a group of 6 on a Thursday night. The hostess and waitress were very patient with us as we all arrived separately. Only one in the group had been to Chuys before so we were mostly newbies. Our lovely waitress did an amazing job explaining all the sauces and even offered to bring out samples for us to try when we just couldn't make a decision. Most of the table ordered Chuy-changas (chimichanga). For $10 it comes with a large portion of rice, beans, sauce, sour cream and chips with salsa. The salsa is a tad spicy but the chips are deliciously thin. The beans were out of this world. I tried the soup beans and loved them. The chimichanga was perfect. Everyone was pleased, some of the other guests thought the chicken was dry but the sauce made up for it. They provided crayons and paper for my little one, definitely kid friendly with a few kid menu options. Chuys gets a stamp of approval from our family. read more

I had heard Chuy's advertised and was looking forward to trying it, but the husband tends to be resistant to Mexican restaurants, so it took some convincing to finally get him to agree to go. We had a little bit of a wait, but we had had to park clear across the parking lot, so at this point, we were determined to just stick around. Parking is not great here around dinnertime. They have a designated lot, but it is limited, and most of the nearby areas have signs indicating you can't park there. There were a fair amount of vegetarian options that were clearly noted. I ended up with the quesasillas - spicier than average - and the husband had the Vegetarian Combo. I thought the food was very flavorful and tasty but everything was definitely on the spicy side. Our server didn't explain about the free queso or anything, but I had thought I'd heard mention of this in an ad and I saw people going up behind us and coming back with bowls. So, we checked it out, and the free queso definitely made this visit a win for me. Gotta love free cheese! ;-) Would have been helpful if he'd shared that information upfront though. Wow the margaritas, chips & guac, salsa, queso & jalapeno ranch sauce are amazing. I attended the Chuy's Cincinnati preview event on July 10th, there was a huge crowd in a tent to the side of the restaurant as final renovations are in progress and this place will be hopping when they officially open to the public on August 20th. All of their food is made from scratch daily, tortillas, chips, salsa, guacamole. I went back for three servings of guacamole at this event, it was that good! Chuy's is a chain out out Austin, Texas and very involved with the community. They already have events scheduled with Circle Tail and a few more non-profits prior to the grand opening. This will be my go to Mexican restaurant in the Kenwood/Madeira area. read more

I have been coming to this place since they opened and I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet. I love this place! The chips are probably the best chips I've had in a restaurant. They are warm and thin and crispy. The salsa has a kick to it, but it is so good! When they just opened, they had green rice and they also had beans but they've since reduced their menus like many other restaurants. Now they only have Spanish rice and refried beans. The refried beans are vegetarian friendly. This last visit, was a pick up that I called in. Typically, when I eat in the restaurant, there is a wait. It is decorated with pictures and posters and it is extremely colorful and inviting. The food was ready when promised. I ordered veggie enchiladas and guacamole. I also received jalapeño ranch on the side. I made the mistake of bringing it to work and my hungry colleagues pretty much at most of the chips and salsa. I kept the guacamole for myself. Sadly, I have the rest away because the enchiladas were so filling. I wish I could get to Kenwood more often as this is my restaurant of choice for the area. Keep up the good work! Sorry, no pics. I've been to the Chuy's in Florence many times and loved it but this was my first visit to this on in Maderia. The store looks super awesome with all of it's vibrant colours and fun decor. As it says on their menu this is Tex-Mex instead of the more traditional Mexican fare of say Acapulco and places like that. We started off our meal with a bowl of Queso which did not come with chorizo or any kind of meat although ground beef could added for an upcharge. It was very run of the mill and not on the level of most Mexican restaurants that I've been to. However what wasn't average was my main course which was one of their signature dishes; the Chuychanga. It is a flour tortilla that is filled with roasted chicken, cheese, cilantro, and green chiles. It is then deep fried and covered with one of their signature sauces (I got Delux Tomatilio) and also has sour cream. The dish also came with refried beans (which I promptly gave my wife as I'm not a bean guy) and Mexican rice. The Chuychanga had some great flavours going on and I really liked the Tomatilio sauce although not as much as their Boom Boom sauce that I've had in the past. They could've backed off on the cilantro as it was kind if dominating some of the other great flavour going on here so I may get that taken off if I get this dish again (I probably will as it's mostly delicious). The Chimmy was cooked perfectly and they had a great blend of flavours even with the small cilantro problem. The Mexican rice was a very good version as well. The service was tremendous, the restaurant looked awesome, and the food was tasty making for a darn good dining experience. Solid thumbs up. read more
