The food is always so delicious! They are quick and efficient and you never have to wait for chips, salsa or cheese dip (when ordered). My drink order is always taken and delivered quickly. I love they have different sizes of cheese dip, sometimes I feel other places bowls are so small and here it is a small! I ordered my go to chimichanga with chicken tonight and the quality was consistent. My friends got the orders sooner and again, HUGE portions. The fajitas, rice and beans and tacos took all the space in the table. Mine came soon after, but it was just a tortilla stuffed with bean puree swimming in tomato sauce and cheese. I was disappointed. It tasted meh as well. My friends found their food average. The expected a lil more spice and the meat to be not that dry. In all, we weren't happy customers. The service was great and the value for money is still decent (with the portions). Roxana was friendly, helpful with our order professional and efficient! The food was hot and very flavorful. I got the bare chimichanga with Pico on the side as I prefer that instead of the cheese. They did let me have the cheese on the side so the table could enjoy.. great service!! We literally just left Cracker Barrel and had such awful service we were looking for something reliable... and we got it. He got vegetarian special D. My friends at work and my Mr. raves about this place. My Mr. has been dining here since his college years. That was 14 years ago. I know this place has been here awhile but you can see that it's solid. We were running some errands in the area and decided to dine in for lunch. It's not so big, quiet and clean. The service is SUPER fast. We got our chips and salsa as soon as we sit down. It took a few minutes to order. I wanted a regular lime Margarita. Then after I got my drink, we ordered. I got the a la carte 2 hard shell beef tacos and my Mr got the beef burrito lunch special with rice and beans. I kid you not, our meals were out in less than 7 minutes. Food was hot and delicious. My Margarita was refreshing and went well with my meal. I can see why my Mr likes here so much. The pricing is reasonable and the food is really good. I've been to this spot numerous times, especially during my college days at NKU, because it was always great and very affordable on a college kid budget. Many years later, I wanted to bring my lady here so she could try it too, and I knew she'd enjoy it. And yes, it's still great after all these years! Their menu isn't as huge as many other Mexican restaurants, but what they do, they do incredibly well. My lady and I came for lunch after a workout at the nearby Planet Fitness. I've always liked the laid back and relaxed vibe here. Plus they have your food ready SUPER fast and it's always delicious. My lady ordered a classic lime margarita which was very refreshing. As for our food, she ordered ground beef tacos a la carte, and I went with one of my all time favorites the burrito grande. Our food was ready in less than 10 minutes and every bite was just as good as I remembered. We were definitely satisfied and full after we finished. And though prices have gone up a little since my college years, it's still very affordable and worth it. I was a little bummed that I no longer see huevos rancheros on their menu, because they made some of the best I've ever had, but I still really like it here. And both times, this has been hands down the WORST Mexican food I have ever had. There is no flavor, absolutely no authenticity in the slightest. I do have categories for Mexican restaurants, I can tell when one will be your typical American style (this place), which is what I was expecting, but WOW I could not have expected just how awful this food would be. After eating at this restaurant last weekend I can't stop thinking about it.. food was so YUMMY and came in giant portions. We sat at the bar since there was a wait when we got there and it was a great choice. The bartender was so sweet and friendly. She was very tentative always making sure we had drinks and bringing more chips and salsa when we needed more. I only ordered a water (pictured below) and she put it in a giant cup. This review is from an experience about a month ago, but I've been to Rio Grande numerous times and there's one major underlying theme: Rio Grande is a safe bet when it comes to standard Mexican Restaurants. This place gets crowded, so definitely be weary of when you plan to arrive. During peak hours, you'll see lots of folks waiting out front for their table. They don't take reservations, so you just need to time things right. Having said that, it's a pretty big space and I've never had to wait long. It's hard to recommend one thing over the other here because it's all pretty standard and there's no one particular thing that they do better than the other. The margaritas are pretty good too, if you're in the mood for that. The price point is great, and I've always felt like I was getting a great value for the amount of food served. The next time I'm looking for a meal of self-loathing, carb-loading, and cheese-coma-ing, I'll definitely be back to Rio Grande. read more

I used to have an old boss who would take me out for giant platters of gross Americanized Mexican food and I used to think I hated Mexican food, until I 1) went to Mexico, 2) had REAL mexican food. We ordered the frozen & on the rocks lime margaritas and they were surprisingly strong. Not the best flavor, but honestly better than I expected. We also got the "cheese dip" which how can you go wrong here? The chips were definitley from a bag and not the greatest. Then we decided that everyone around us was ordering the fajitas so we went for it. We ordered the "fajitas for ONE" and my god. This sizzling plate piled high probably weighing close to 2lbs came out! NO JOKE. This thing was gigantic. We are used to sharing so thank god we did not order the fajitas for two. People word of advice: stick to one. The fajitas were hot, and had a nice seasoning on them. The tortillas were flour and not the greatest and the sides that it comes with were not fresh or quality. I only had two scoops and I was full to the brim. So to sum up - gargantuan sized portions. Lower quality food, but we had a fun time here people watching and chatting over margs. Would I come back? They don't have an official drink menu but offer a wide variety of margaritas among other things. The traditional margarita was quite tart, probably wouldn't order it again in the future. I had the quesadilla for dinner and my boyfriend ordered the arroz con pollo, both of which were pretty good. We sat at the bar since there was a 30 min wait for a table.
