I cannot tell you how amazing Valerie Childress is! I am a mixed girl with extremely thick and curly hair. She is the only stylist I have ever been to that can really make my hair look and feel wonderful. She gives me a great advice on how to maintain the integrity of my hair. Something is really off at this salon. I made an appointment 3 months in advance with a stylist who had cut my hair once and did a good job. Three times before my next appointment, the salon called to tell me that my stylist was "no longer with us" and they would need to reschedule me with a different stylist on a different day. After this 3rd time, I nicely told them how frustrating this was, and they accused me of having an attitude. Instead of saying, "I'm so sorry this has happened again, let me schedule you at our next available appointment." The person on the phone (owner?) became very rude to me. If this is how they treat their clients, I can only imagine how they treat their stylists. I guess this explains why so many are leaving. I will not be returning either. read more

I was losing hope as my last experience at a different salon was not very good at all. I took a chance and took myself and my daughter to this place. My daughter needed a hole new style as her hair was so long and so scraggly. They washed our hair, even massaged our head as they put in the conditioner and then put a steaming towel over our hair, it was so relaxing. They cut and blowdried our hair exactly like I asked and we were both thrilled. Gave them $10 tip each and I even asked them about the bridal hair and make up they do. I will definitely be back!!! I have been with Ciao Bella for over a year. Used to love going there and refered alot of people. However due to a new appointment policy "that customers who do not call in to cancel an appointment at least 24 hours in advance 3 times will no longer be allowed to make an appoinment." This started last month and was never communicated to customers. I was extremely suprised to find this out when I called the day of and was told I could not ever make another appoinment. I will be finding a new place to go and will be suggesting the same to those I have refered. If I would have been notified of the change in policy, I would have tried very hard to uphold it. It is extremely unfortunate, but I will not deal with a company that changes its policies without letting its customers know and then penalizes them. I hope others will feel the same. My wonderful stylist moved to Boston a year ago and I've been on the hunt to find someone as awesome as she was. I tried out several new salons, but didn't love any of them. A few weeks ago, a friend suggested that I go to Ciao Bella and have Anna style my hair. That was the best advice I've ever received. I brought in a picture of what I thought was a cute cut/style. Anna looked at it and explained that it would require a lot of styling time. Since I don't like to spend a huge amount of time on my hair, I asked her is she could give me a variation on the cut, one that would be easier to maintain. She totally rocked it out. I love the cut. I got my first Deva Cut today with Anna and it was an amazing experience! The atmosphere in the salon is so calm and relaxing! Anna explained each step of the process and was very knowledge about curly hair. She even gave me tips on improving my curls pattern (2c/3b hair). Go somewhere else and save your time and money !! I had an appt with James Lighthiser. I showed him a picture of exactly what I wanted, after the color however my hair turned out to be yellow brasy and i told him that is not what i was looking for. He tonned them down and said i could come back and get them changed. when i called back they said I had to call within a week if i wanted to get them fixed. (I called 2 days after the first week) Instead of owning their own fault of ruining my hair they refused to help and stated that i would have to pay another 200 dollars to get something fixed for which i already paid 200 dollars. My experience was just "ok". from the website I was expecting a beautiful clean salon, it was kinda run down. While my stylist was nice and courteous, I felt my service was "rushed". When I called I informed the receptionist that I had extra long and thick hair and would require more time. The stylist had another customer in the same chair as me!! I had a deep condition, at almost every salon Ive been too, deep condition includes a head massage, not here. I had full highlights and all over color, usually with light highlights I get a toner and nope (the stylist was coloring another customer the same time as me) He only shampoo rinsed the color out once!! I'm sure color is just seeping in my hair. and the color wasn't from root to tips, half my roots are showing. sigh, I won't be back, I was expecting first class service and for the price I paid...I'll go somewhere else. read more

Not very satisfied. Went here to cover my highlights as I was getting sick of having to re-do them every 6-8 weeks. Anyways, I told the stylist that I wanted to be as close to my natural brown as possible...almost 4 hours later my hair was basically black with a reddish tint. Within 3 days you could still see my blonde highlights showing through. I ended up buying a box of dye from CVS to fix what the stylist messed up. I should have just saved my money in the first place and avoided this place altogether. First and last time I will be going there! read more

Just a follow-up to when I wrote the review originally four years ago. I still go to Megan regularly! She's chopped all my hair off into a pixie and helped me grow it back, chop it off again, and then grow again. I love this place. I always relax and have some good me time when I'm there. read more

My little brother just got married last Saturday and I had my hair and makeup done by Anna. I have not felt that pretty since my wedding day 4 years ago. It was the first time that I've walked tall in a long time. It's very hard for me to feel truly beautiful or like I'm not just blending in with the crowd, but on Saturday I danced right in the middle of everyone and held my head high! I started coming here in 2012. I am always amazed at the level of care and attention I am given! I have never been anywhere like it! I have been to other places that were sweet, great customer service, gave me what I asked for, etc. But, once you visit here, every other place will just become that place you used to know. I got married in 2012. I had been really sick and lost my hair. So, when my wedding happened, I decided that I should be happy that I'm alive, that I'm marrying such a great man....but I was sad because I had always had long beautiful hair and now, forever, I would have photos of one of the most important days of my life, with short hair :(. I mentioned on Facebook that I wished white girls could get extensions. A friend of mine said they can, and recommended I call Anna. This ended up being like one of those really big deal, life changing moments for me! I know it sounds super dramatic, but the staff at this place made me feel like a member of their club or something! I was able to have long beautiful hair on my wedding day! They did my makeup as well, and I felt so beautiful that day!! I have been back many times since my wedding and I always leave feeling so satisfied ! I never have to worry about whether they are going to understand what I am wanting! It's such a long story, so rather than bore you with all of the details, I'll just say, it is because of everything that went into everyone here working to make sure I felt my most beautiful on my wedding day, that I am in a career that I love, and I've changed my life in so many amazing ways! Obviously there is a ton of missing information here, but let me say one thing; finding a stylist that is not only really good at what they do, but that you are able to connect with, is so important! If you have never experienced that feeling when you leave your stylist, and you feel so beautiful you just want to go out so people can see how good you look! I went to this salon because I needed a change with my natural curly hair. I called and was worked in the same day, which was awesome. Simon greeted me at the door and he was extremely pleasant and professional. The salon is also beautiful. My appointment was with Valerie. She was nice and made a very big deal out of the fact that I have curly hair and stated that she is a "curl expert". She spent tremendous amounts of time washing and styling my hair and selling me the Deva Curl products. Since I was mainly there for a haircut, I kept reminding her of the fact. She had my hair washed and styled before she ever started cutting. This confused me and I asked about it. She said that is the best way to cut curly hair. I had a lot of breakage and split ends and wanted them cut off. She literally snipped bits here and there. I constantly asked her if she was actually cutting the split ends. Again, she assured me she was. My hair looked great when I left. Then I washed it. I had no less split ends than when I went in and my hair was choppy and uneven. I went to another salon 4 days later and the lady asked when my last haircut was after looking at my hair. When I told her 4 days ago, she said it looked like it had been months since I had so many split ends and that bits were crooked in my layers and thought maybe I cut it myself. I spent $55 at Ciao Bella and then another $45 someplace else to fix what 1. Valerie didn't cut and 2. What she did cut and messed up. I won't be back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

Let me start by saying when I made this appointment I was clear about wanting a stylist who was experienced with color as I tend not to trust new stylists. I was given an appointment with Marisa who not only is a newer stylist but not great with color. I left with yellow brassy hair. She told me after the color came out horribly that it would take more than one appointment to get to my desired look which wasn't that drastic of a change. I also like to be told things like this during the consultation portion of the appointment. I ended up going home and toning with wella ash blonde toner which help a lot but it's unacceptable to me that I paid $170 to have to go home and fix my own hair. I won't be going back and I wish I could get a refund on at least my tip. read more
