Tonight we ate at Luke's Bar, in the Leland Lodge, it was delicious.... Starting with the martinis and ending with a great entree. We had the French dip, crab cakes and Leelanau salad, I highly recommend all of these. You will not be disappointed, especially if you're lucky enough to have Luke as your server. Job well done! The stroganoff had no MUSHROOMS, beef broth nor parsley. It was bland sour cream and over cooked prime rib on noodles. I had to add a lot of salt & pepper to make it edible. On google ALL of the first 100 recipes for stroganoff have MUSHROOMS & beef broth. The rolls were covered in salt and the butter crumbled and would not spread. Must have been very old. We have never had butter crumbs on a table. Then the freezing air conditioning wind making the table cloths flutter was terrible. It was 63 degrees outside and warmer than the diningroom. The whole room had on coats and no one noticed. The waitress was very nice. read more

The thing is we hadn't gone back for a year even though we stay in Leland for the summer, because the service was terrible now the Lodge is under new management. The food is so much better and very seldom do you get an excuse "We're out of that", so we will start going back on a regular basis because it's been a terrific summer, I would recommend this place now as long as it stays under this Management read more

2 wonderful meals in 2 weeks during the busiest time of year here!! After a disappointing start this winter, I was pleasantly surprised by the expanded menu & elevated quality of food when we decided to give The Lodge another try. Outside in the co weed deck we shared crab cakes (loaded with crab meat), spicy sautéed shrimp (small shrimp, big flavor) upgraded side salad to a tossed Caesar (tangy dressing, crisp romaine plus one their famous cheddar "wookies"), Carlson's whitefish (beautiful filet) and prime rib (a generous cut, slow cooked to perfection). Heads up...side potato gratin is mouth watering (cheesy & creamy). At the bar with Luke it was flaky potpies (chicken & brisket) and prime stroganoff (both portions quite generous). Would love to see a green veg side option as the glazed carrots are super sweet. Our server delivered little chocolate shortbread heart cookies with the bill that were delicious!! This was our third stay in four years. We always come during the winter when the crowds aren't in town. We like a quiet getaway. I cannot say enough great things about The Leland Lodge. Brian and his staff are always attentive to any needs a guest might have. They even had a Keurig coffee maker in our room as requested. I am a clean freak, and there wasn't one dust bunny to be seen. Every corner of our room was meticulous. There were several pillows on the most comfortably soft bed. There were also ample amount of towels and bathroom necessities, as well as two fluffy robes. A mini fridge and microwave were also in our room and worked wonderfully for our leftovers. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, especially for being a 99 year old establishment. The lodge had been refurbished in the past few years with warm wood on the walls, and beautiful marble in the bathroom and at the sink. There is a warm, inviting area to sit by a fireplace just inside the lobby area. They have a grille restaurant just inside the doors that has delicious foods with generous portions and drink menu. They also had an absolutely wonderful restaurant that was towards the back of the establishment which we had reservations for Valentine's Day. The atmosphere was quaint, classy, done with exquisite taste. And our meal.....UNBELIEVABLE. So good! I could go on and on. Each year we return, we are impressed. We can't wait to return! read more

Expensive lodge but the room was just quaint but worked for us. They had only 1 room that was pet friendly. WiFi was rather weak and the room lacked outlets next to the bed. Staff were friendly and professional. The front desk staff even walked me to where the room was located. read more

This spot is a stones throw from the lake .the deck over looks the golf course and lovely trees.it's a great place to have drinks and apps on the deck. Our waiter was very efficient and friendly.It IS difficult to get and keep summer staff in this town.be warned it's a bit pricey for what you get . my husband liked the veggie burger.I had a fried chicken sandwich.it was fine. The really unfortunate thing is that the AC is on 24/7 no matter what the temperature is outside. I've been here many times over the years.this IS a persistent issue.people complain but it never changes. If it's warm enough and not TOO warm sit OUTSIDE. read more

We just held a 100th anniversary of our summer cottage at the Lodge, with 4 generations of descendants of our grandparents who bought this special place. We were excited to hear that there was once again dining at the Leland Lodge other than the snack bar. Boy, were we wrong! The wine bar has an extremely limited menu that is wildly overpriced. The $50 bavette steak was small, overcooked, and tasteless. The tacos were much tastier (that's the third star here) but still really pricey. Server was friendly, but amateurish for this price point. Stayed at The Leland Lodge for a weekend and had a great time! The rooms were so clean and cozy. The workers were all very friendly. There is a bar/restaurant right downstairs which was a great perk and made grabbing a quick lunch or dinner easy! It's walking distance from downtown & the beach. High recommend! read more

First off I rate restaurants thusly: 3 stars is average. It's not bad but it's not great. There was nothing wrong with our experience. We got a few burgers and chips and sweet potato fries. One of us got the ribeye and one got fish. No one complained nor cheered. Wait staff was nice. I wouldn't avoid this place by any means but there was also nothing to draw you there. If you don't wanna make the drive out of town I could see dining here. The beach is a short drive from here; it's a small beach but it's right there. read more

My husband and I were camping in the area for our anniversary and were looking for a dog friendly restaurant. The Leland Lodge was suggested to us so we gave it a try. The bartender/waitress Roni, took great care of us. She was friendly, attentive and kind. Our food and drinks were wonderful! Finding outdoor dog friendly places always seems to be a challenge in Michigan but this place was great. Highly recommend and we will be returning. read more

Didn't stay at the lodge but had dinner with friends there last night. Perch basket, pulled pork sandwich, the quesadillas and the pork chop were all good according to those that ordered those dishes. If you like calamari, you will be disappointed, and the Brussels sprout appetizer is enough for 4-6 people. Good service, nice ambience, worth the visit. read more

We love The Leland Lodge! The people are consistently nice and great service with a smile. The food is good and a beautiful atmosphere. My favorite is the nights with live music. We prefer sitting outside. Again, super nice people! We always plan to eat here. The on June 30th we had Taylor and she was so entertaining. We returned July 3rd and had a great server but I can't remember her name. They're all so patient and kind with my dad, too. read more

Their house specialties are over-the-top fantastic all the time. Their service is exceptional. Atmosphere is Queen's in old school. Classic. The view is astonishing. We had excellent safe service at this dining establishment with a very attentive and helpful waitress who went out of her way to make sure of the ingredients due to a severe food allergy. Walked from in-town lodging to order in person and were told at 7 pm they were too busy for takeout (says available til 9 pm). Hostess was nice, bartender very dismissive. Just returned from an amazing family vacation. My expectations were completely blown away. Apparently, new owners have made major improvements recently. Loved the Lodge and its proximity to town and lake (only a couple of blocks to Lake and beach areas and a couple of blocks from Main Street of town). We were able to walk everywhere - but hated to leave the comfort of the Lodge. Everyone was VERY nice/friendly. Food and drink options were excellent! We will be back and can't wait. read more

This review is for a rehearsal dinner I attended at Leland Lodge. We had a wonderful meal with salad with beets and goat cheese, roasted half chicken with risotto and roasted vegetables, and homemade honey lavender ice cream for dessert. The service was great and I was never waiting around for anything. The food was very good and the space was really nice for a larger dinner party (we were just off the main area where they hold wedding receptions upstairs). read more

Looking for good food and good music for St. Patrick's Day? This is not the place. My wife and I were sadly disappointed.

I had an early morning flight and decided to change my flight to a later flight and then saw this lovely hotel. I had heard that it was nasty and dirty. Leading into a bad expectation I walked in to lovely service and a great view of the lake. I then sat on the beds with a low level of expectation and was shocked and surprised to an amazing bed and lovey service. I definitely will be back. read more

An okay place. They were out of almost everything on the breakfast menu. Pillows - I kid you not - emitted a horrible odor when you first lay your head down that smelled like dry old man farts. LOL. Awful. Coffee in the morning was located way in the back of the dining room and the staff there always seemed annoyed when I would walk back to get some. Nice sized rooms and clean. Staff is friendly for the most part. They gotta fix that pillow smell, though. read more

Our daughter's and son-in-law's wedding reception was at the lodge this February. I cannot think of a better place for this event. Not only was the remodeled space elegant and comfortable, the staff did everything possible to make our day outstanding. Through the entire planning process, we felt that the Cara and Andy understood exactly what we were looking for and were so easy to work with. Both the bride and groom, along with their parents, were able to talk with staff, visit the site when we needed to and get our questions answered quickly as we planned the event. Our guests are still commenting on the quality of the food, the service, and the atmosphere of the lodge. We booked the entire lodge and many of our family members were able to stay right there in the newly decorated rooms, which are beautifully done in soft colors and comfortable beds. With the lodge filled with our wedding guests, we were able to decorate the banquet room early, clean up on Sunday morning and use the entire lodge for our event. Many guests sat in the front bar and lobby by the fireplace when they wanted a break from the music in the banquet room. I have two younger daughters and will encourage them to use the Leland Lodge for their weddings when the time comes. read more

Forget the old reviews. Things have changed!!! Just returned from a breathtaking vacation which included a night's stay at the Lelend Lodge. Wonderful personnel that went out of their way to serve your every neeed. Desk clerk (Kelsey) was extraordinary! Felt like a Country Club!! Great meal on the patio adjacent to the golf course. Chef from TX prepared finger-likin ribs!! Within two blocks of downtown yet hiden from the noise and bustle of traffic. Would gladly go again!! Highly recommended. read more
