This here was probably my favorite overall place to be while I was visiting Portland. I have to say that damn I have LOTS OF LOVE for ciders. When you walk in its quiet and the people are chill. They have food/appetizers if you want w/your food but we just kept the flights coming. They had music playing (80's at the time) in the background and the TV was on but muted. I cannot recommend this cider house enough. My girlfriend and I originally made reservations for a different place for late afternoon drinks but we were incredibly happy with our change. They've set up a cute little outdoor seating area so you can stay a bit safer. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have an extensive cider menus with sweeter and drier options that rotate with the season. Their flight seems reasonably priced and you gotta love getting to sample a bunch of different varieties (just me?). The paddles they come in are fun too. Their Chaider was good; it smelled wonderful. Their fall Hollow Jack was also nice, as were their fruitier options. I don't know about the rest of their food but the Cesar salad did not look great. Came in here after Saturday market for some cider flights. It was such a great decision. The space is cozy and intimate, but they have some fun card games that you can play and plenty of cider options to choose from. What really makes this place feel great to visit is the colorful haired bartender, who gave great service. He was super understanding when my bf spilled a beer and got me a replacement of my favorite one. I personally enjoyed a lot of the sweet flavors. I would say definitely try the grand mimosa, or the cucumber watermelon. my boyfriend likes the dryer flavors and he loved all of the berry flavored ones. I rarely leave poor reviews, but really had to share my experience here. Came in for a taster tray and Angela was the worst server. She did not even give me the form I filled out with my selected tasters. Own up to YOUR mistake and give me my form so I know what I am drinking! Although the tasters here are bigger than what you would receive from other cider places, the encounter you would receive from this server is not worth it - trust me! Unwelcoming and judge mental. The tasters are too top heavy and will spill easily. I spilt three of my tasters from one mistake of trying to save one I had knocked over. I did clean up my mess with a towel immediately. P.s. Angela's son (Michael) is very nice. If he were the only encounter my friends and I had today, 5 stars. Angela, you're the reason for this one star, please change your attitude. Cider Bite is such a gem. This was the only bar I went to twice during my trip to Portland, and I am already looking forward to the next trip. The place isn't very large -- quite comfy, actually. There's benches and a couple of seats at the bar in the far back. A sizable display lists the options, and you can find detailed descriptions in the menus. Note the disclaimer that says they do not offer free samples -- you'll have to pay $1 for each sample sip. My style is sweet and savory. I've tried the Vanilla Bean, Black & Blue, Peach, Grand Mimosa and Peary Pear. I LOVED the Vanilla Bean -- think cream soda with a little bit of a kick. I also enjoyed the others, minus the Peary Pear. It was a weird one... Glad I didn't get a whole half pint. But, hey, that's why you order a flight! Prices are pretty dang good. Half pints go for $5 and pints are $6.50. Flights are $12 for four kinds, and there's a surcharge if you want the more premium kinds. I also ordered a Cheeseboard, but I asked for no blue cheese and crackers instead of nuts and fruit. YUM. Good price, good portion. Cheese and crackers is always a winner. Cider Bite closes at 9pm most nights and 11pm other nights -- that's way too soon for this Los Angeles girl. They are open during covid, I got outdoor seating just wear a mask when not eating and drinking. Restrooms available! The first time I came here, the Peach Cider by cider boys was the sole reason I wanted to come back. Tried a bunch other ciders and they were delish! The waitress was very helpful in recommending ciders that paired well with the rest of the flight. As a whiskey lover the Manhattan cider peaked my interest, but it did not satisfy me. Something about wild fermentation and barrel aged ciders wasn't tasty for me. But the other ones were really good, I think my top three are the Peach, strawberry rhubarb, and Russian red. While we were in town, we decided to check out a bar that specialized in ciders, aptly named Cider Bite. We dropped in on a Saturday evening (around 9:00pm). The place wasn't too busy but everyone inside was having a good time socializing or playing a board game. Nothing crazy in terms of selection but they had Battleship, Sequence, Uno, checkers and a couple other card games. There's also two TV's (playing random things like Jeopardy and a dog walking competition). Music here was a great mix of indie (like the XX). The selection is impressive for ciders. It's split by sweet, dry, divergent and artisanal. The latter two categories cost an additional $1.50 US if you want to add them into your flight option. There's also cider cocktails, beer and wine. They also have a small food menu but the kitchen closes early (7:00pm/8:00pm). - Flight ($16.00 US for 6) - all the samples are 5oz pours. We opted for the pineapple (#6), vanilla bean (#3), grand mimosa (#10), loganberry (#17), lemon cello (#9) and sacrilege sour cherry (#23). Our favourites were the grand mimosa, pineapple (tasted like a pineapple slurpee) and lemon cello. The vanilla bean reminded us of cream soda. We weren't big fans of the loganberry. Came here for the awesome selection of ciders at very reasonable prices, especially if you order the 8 oz sizes. Even outside of happy hour the drinks were fairly priced ($2.50 for a flight of 4, 8 oz ciders). If you want to try out some of the ciders before you plunge right in and get a 16 oz or larger, you can do a flight and choose from 25 different flavors. They have traditional ciders such as apple, as well as unique flavors like Habanero. You write down the drinks you want on a sheet, they bring back your choices, and you even get have space to rate the drinks so you can remember them for your next visit. I'm not someone who likes strong drinks, thus my friends jokingly state that I can only handle "lady drinks".
