Came in on a Friday afternoon. Pretty empty customer wise. Staff were attentive. We sat at the bar and started a conversation with the owner. We said we like bourbon, but she let us sip some Irish whiskeys that were amazing. Redbreast is where it's at my friends. So smooth, flavorful, without the burn. Corned beef soup was to die for. I would bathe in it. Mac n cheese was creamy but with a bite from the cheddar cheese. So delightful. Stop in if you have the chance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great atmosphere and they have music most nights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also an extensive whiskey selection. Check it out!

I went to this place at St. Patrick's Day to have corn beef and cabbage and shepherds pie and listened to some great music. It was quite an adventure. The service was great and the music was great and we all had a wonderful time. We stayed there till they close, which is pretty unusual for a bunch of us old ladies we really appreciated all the hospitality and getting to know lots of new people that night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We have been there since for a few drinks and it is a nice cozy place to sit outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Good service. Spacious. Dinner food option available. It's in downtown so it's down street parking or parking lots. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live music on Saturdays.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Wow! I only paid $16 for these at Happy Hour! That's a damn good deal. Irish Stout and Pretzel with Cheese Sauce and Mustard. Amazing and simple as one. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very spacious atmosphere and bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Brighter ceiling lights than the one in Seattle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bartender was direct and professional. Thank goodness! I would ate here again!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Good music, ambiance and food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were mixed up a couple of times, but might have been due to the soda tap. Food and snacks are tasty!

great service and I love the live band, highly recommend! also fries are great! beautifully decorated for the holiday season! a little slow around the holidays but live band makes up for it.

My boyfriend and I went for happy hour and enjoyed the pretzel and smash burger. We also ordered the classic sausage roll, that lives up to the hype. For my first time in, it was a wonderful experience :)

They have NA beers including Guinness and Heineken as well as soft drinks.

The last couple of times I've been to Kells have been for large group events accommodated in a private space. Kells has always been fun and I'm surprised how well the private spaces always work out. The catered food was good and I was excited that there were a couple of near-beer options. Service was excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'd like to come back again for some music sometime and enjoy the main bar area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We came in on Valentine's Day to get a quick snack and some cocktails before our dinner reservations and we were thoroughly impressed! The owner was making sure all the guests were happy and even though it was busy the staff was very polite and friendly. The sausage roll was seriously delicious!

Came in to this establishment with high hopes and got let down. When first entering my friend and I were greeted right away by a very friendly gentleman. We were told we can sit wherever we like, so we did. After that we were given our menus by a second person who seemed very uninterested in her job which was unpleasant. My friend and I are bar hopping downtown so I only ordered a cocktail and my friend just had her water. The bartender seemed offput by only having one drink and no food ordered which set the tone for the rest of our visit. There was barely anyone in the restaurant and we were only checked on three times in a span of over an hour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was supposed to be live music but the overall setting of the bar just wasn't what we were expecting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Old school Irish pub. We came in for a Guinness and we were greeted by dashing ladies eager to give us one. The inside of this spot was that of an old Irish tavern and looked to be super old. Instead of a Guinness, we had a Kells Stout and it was incredible! They brew all of their beers and I want to try them all! Normally, we would get a Reuben or Shepards pie, but I am a sucker for BBQ pulled pork. Smacked! With the slaw on top, you can't go wrong.

My husband and I always stop here whenever we visit Portland. The service is good, the environment is casual and the food is tasty. We typically get seated right away. The server or bartender is very quick to order your food and drinks. My husband always gets a Guinness while I opt for a cider. For food, we like their soda bread, soups and sandwiches. They're consistent and you always know what to expect.

A most celebrated space and local Portland business for decades, Kells Irish Pub is loved among many. The St Patrick's Day festivities are extra fun with tons of activities, music, food and beer, very good beers. My first time at Kells to celebrate St Pattys and it was a hoot. The staff were friendly and check in for the event was easy. $30 per person with a free t-shirt. We were early enough and grabbed a high table at the tent area. Music was already playing and the first round of beers was enjoyed. The smooth frothy finish of a Kells stout was incredible. The food station was still preparing so we enjoyed more music, dance performances and yes a little interlude with sweet Caroline (bum bum bum) yeah the throwback song from college days at last call, haven't heard that song in ages. It warmed the heart truly. Everyone was in good spirits there's a little gift area too with light up hats, necklaces and other merchandise. Finally the food station was open and I wanted to order everything. The pretzel with beer cheese, wow the butter coating and just the right amount of salt. Soft chewy pretzel to dunk in cheesy beer sauce what's not to like? The sausage roll was actually ground pork with gravy and spices wrapped up in a buttery flakey dough. Delish! The Shepards pie was the winner. Layers of tubed whipped potatoes with butter and garlic, the fork plunged below the potato mountain into ground beef and sauce. I could eat that everyday. After a few more rounds or Kells stout beer and some Irish mule I was feeling pretty good. The music was playing and the crowds were growing. It's a magical experience for me. I may be stuck in 2020. People laughing and having a good time. That's worth celebrating. Kells really had a welcoming atmosphere. No pretentious BS or exclusive vibes. When you're a POC maybe you tend to look around and catch someone staring or hearing negative comments. But none of that nonsense here just a fun St Pattys Day celebration, Welcome to all! Kells IG highlights a farm to table commitment. Fresh ingredients and produce. Hope to make my way back to enjoy some dinner inside the restaurant at Kells and sip another glass of frothy stout. Thanks for a memorable celebration

The room alone almost made it worth my time. The English pea risotto was very good, and the house fries were good. The French-oaked flight I requested was a sad effort. The bartender never asked what distillers I had as options other than indicating that Makers 46 must be what I'm after when I said French oaked and creamy was my vibe, to which I raised an eyebrow and indicated I was ok if he started with that in my flight as a base for comparison. Otherwise he never asked whether I'd like to spend good money on something special (I would have said yes) and later claimed these were the only French-oaked bottles they even had in stock despite a claimed inventory of over 2,000 whiskeys. What arrived: Penelope Architect--nothing at all on the nose, something like wood paneling on the palate. Angel's Envy Triple Oak--tasted just like the Angel's Envy Rum Cask I can get at the supermarket. Maker's 46--the best of those three, yet still quintessentially basic as a wheated French-staved bargain buy, which, by the way, I never indicated I was there for. When I diplomatically indicated my that my flight was totally blasé and asked for one last pour in hopes of redeeming the experience, he brought me a redundant Maker's Heart Series in which the heart was made of mildly chocolate-inspired disappointment. Staff clearly put effort into educating and serving, and the environment is special enough that I hope to return with friends for that alone, even though I was rushed out due to a scheduled reservation needing my unscheduled seat. Ultimately the pours left me with an extremely unimpressive result and a future 0-for-2 that I'd be willing to risk in hopes of their redemption. Exceptionally impressive venue, if totally unimpressive flight curation.

Walking through those double glass doors, you can see the crazy inventory and supply of cigars they carry and wouldn't doubt if there's more in the back. It's a pretty wide and open space and there's some seating to smoke a cigar inside if you so desire. I went in needing to find some maduros for my dad as a gift and we were able to find a few at different price points so I could makeshift my own tasting box. The staff here is pretty straightforward and to the point which is nice. I had gotten some advice on cigars priced around $10 a piece, $25 a piece, and $45 a piece. Grabbed a few at each price point and knew that this gift would be a super solid one for my dad. After I inquired about the duration for transporting them on a flight, they came to the rescue with a mobile humidor packet to keep them in tip top shape. My time here had me feeling like I was back at my great grandpa's with all the tchotchkes one could possess. Towards the entrance was a large pile of cigar boxes that their inventory came in and they sell them as storage or gift boxes. Every box came from different makers and consisted of wood, tin, and everything in-between. With the help of a friend, she was able to help me find a Rocky Patel Box that was perfect. All in all - this is one spot worth checking out for sure!!

We got back in to town right at the peak of the parade and lights celebration Saturday. To say it was chaotic would be an understatement. Since roads were closed, the road to my hotel was of course blocked off. So during the first go around we couldn't get to where we needed to be and went instead on a one mile circle which then led is to an area where the guy blocking the road was nice enough to let us through after we told him my hotel was where he was. What a blessing that was indeed because we found a parking spot right across from my hotel. My friend had an hour to kill before she could check in to her hotel since the road was still closed on that side. We lucked out finding two seats right at the bar as soon as you walk in. It was first come first serve and they were busy. Lots of people were trickling in from the festivities to have a drink or two. I got the cucumber cocktail. It was so good I made my friend have a sip. As what usually happens, we ended up making friends with the two ladies next to us who were parade participants representing mardi gras. The hour breezed by so quickly. It was such a fun time I completely forgot to take photos. Hotel guests get 15% off their tab.

It's still in its construction phase, but there's something enticing about watching a place come into its own. Stepping through the door drops you right into the humidor--a warm, fragrant embrace. We lingered there for a few minutes before anyone appeared, and just when I wondered if we'd slipped in unnoticed, a speakeasy-style door swung open. I have to admit... the mystery of that was a little thrilling. The host greeted us with easy charm, talked cigars with my husband before inviting us to explore the lounge upstairs. The room had rows of deep chairs, TVs playing and gentlemen chatting. BYOB is always a plus--it's nice to have something smooth to sip while he enjoys his cigar. They were having an event that evening, pizza waiting outside the door. Boxes open and the pizza was cold. Unfortunately not appetizing, but that's not why you come to a cigar bar. My reason for giving three stars is the winter ventilation. With the windows closed, the smoke lingers a bit too intimately. I love joining my husband at cigar lounges, but I prefer not to walk out wearing the scent like a second skin. Still, there's something intriguing about this place--the potential.
