Dr. Cigno and his staff are outstanding , my family have been seeing him for years. My teeth look great , but even better are very healthy. Dr. Cigno has even come in on a holiday when I had an emergency. I drive over two and a half hours for my appointments and its worth it. read more

BE WARNED Please, please avoid CIGNO. He has completed about 15k of unnecessary work on my families teeth ... and that work is now failing. It's almost movie like it's so unreal the things he has said and done. And he's getting away with it. Please file a complaint against him with Wisconsin. We have and they ruled against him. Although we get no personal gain, it's good for Wisconsin dentist board to keep an eye on him. It's scary to think that we will have deal with his bad dentistry for the rest of our lives. Healthy teeth destroyed. I also agree with another complaint ... the weird touching of the shoulder. The open buttoned shirt where he sticks his gross chest hair in your face. The dog clicker for "pain". Our big red flag happened when he wanted to pull my husbands 2 front teeth as he said he had an infection. My husband felt fine, no pain. He wrote my husband a script for antibiotics. CAN YOU IMAGINE? For years he commented on my husbands "gappy teeth" and wanted to do unnecessary cosmetic surgery to "fix" it. After going to a different dentist for second opinion we found obviously there was no infection, nothing wrong and we mysteriously don't have cavities every other appointment since switching dentists. Do not use this dentist. I will be reporting them to better business bureau. I have had 3 cavities my whole life. I didn't go to dentist for 1.5 years because I was pregnant and was very sick during it. Then we moved and I had to get a new dentist and I went to Cigno. I believed them at first that I needed a root canal and 2 crowns and I wrote it off as it was because it had been awhile. The cost was crazy and they had all this high tech stuff that made me believe. After getting my crowns they bothered me and I had to keep going in to get them filed down. The times I went I felt super uncomfortable. Dr. Cigno kept calling me sweetie and honey the whole time I was there. There is creepy pictures of him all over with weird quotes. All his techs and front desk are pretty blondes who he also calls sweet and honey. I switched dentist after the final time they filed them. Then I told my SIL about my horrible situation and to my surprise she was going to him too and had the exact same thing happen. She was told she needed crowns and she trusted them too and then had issues after. My new dentist told me he couldn't believe they made me get 2 crowns and that I have the type of teeth that really aren't prone to cavities let alone crowns. Now it's been 4 years but my crown just fell out and the other one is still bothering me. Honestly, do not be fooled don't go here. read more

Worst dentist experience I've ever had. They asked very personal questions and dr touched my shoulder without consent, giving me weird/bad vibes. This happened after he told me that I needed supposedly had my first ever cavity and needed other expensive procedures that previous dentist never mentioned. First visit felt sketchy enough that instead of scheduling a filling as suggested, I decided to wait six months for a second opinion, who took full set of x-rays today and found no issues. I decided to change dentists only because I was looking for somewhere closer to my house and because my life is very hectic. I made an appointment here with my 7-year-old son for routine cleanings. I am in my late 30s and have had one cavity in my life and have always been told I am lucky to have good teeth, etc. My son has had two cavities ever. First impressions when we walked in - the office is very nice and fancy, as someone else said. Everyone is friendly, but after the whole experience, I would describe it as a little Stepford. The office is full of photos, posters, magazine cut outs, and other essentially propaganda about the dentist. There is a life-sized poster of him when you walk in.... I mean, on it's own, that would not have turned me off, but keep reading. We were given a tour of the facility which was nice, and then I was called back for my cleaning. The hygienist did a lot of different X-rays and then told me that it seems like I had gum disease (actually she asked if my old dentist had ever told me I had gum disease - no), and said she was going to do a cleaning with water and some sort of particulate she said that would exfoliate my teeth and gums, and then she said I would have to come back in a few weeks to see how everything reacted. At the time, I didn't question this. I was just sad that a year without a cleaning had led to my teeth having all these problems. The dentist eventually came around in a full Western outfit (again, this on its own is no biggie, eccentricism, I can handle), but I could have lived without the unbuttoned shirt and six inches of chest hair. (I am not kidding). He was actually very nice, but then he called the hygienist "sweetie" in front of me, and the whole visit and my stomach started to turn... :/ At the end, I paid almost $600 for the visit (me and my son) and I was told I had six cavities, and my son had three cavities, and given bills for future visits that showed how I would pay over $2200 for the work we needed. I was also scheduled another appointment a few weeks later (not sure what that was going to cost) for the hygienist to tell me if I actually had gum disease.... The hygienist did not polish my teeth or my son's teeth and did not once give either of us the dentist lecture about the importance of brushing and flossing. (I guess if you want to get people to come for a lot of dental work, the way to do it is not to emphasis the importance of good preventative care). My son was told that maybe in a year they could start some pre-braces work (OMG). Initially, I felt sad about how bad our teeth were, until I looked on Yelp and saw the reviews by people who had had basically the same experience as me. Then I got mad. I went back to my old dentist (something I am lucky to have the luxury of the time and money to do), fessed up to my disloyalty and how I had decided to find someone closer to home, explained my weird experience, etc. We came in for checkups where they basic cleanings and X-rays on my son and I. They told us we had no cavities. Not a single cavity for either of us. No gum disease. My dentist actually said, thank god you didn't let them mutilate your nice teeth. Beware. Edited simply to add - after I cancelled my future appointments, left a short voicemail and then sent them a very detailed email explaining about my bad experience, they mailed me a nice letter with a check for a full refund of what I paid for my "learning experience." read more

I have been to multiple dentists, orthodontics, TMJ specialists, etc. and I have never once been treated the way I have been like I have been here. I was referred to Cigno family dental and thought I would give it a shot since I had already been to a place that quoted me over $25,000 in work to my mouth, being that they would have to brake my jaw. Being 28 years old and already obtaining debt from student loans is a huge burden to uphold. My sole purpose of going to any dentist office was to fix my teeth, after an accident when I was 16 years old it left my jaw in shambles, and at the time wiring my jaw shut was financially and physically not an option. They did their consultation and explained everything with so much detail, I didn't have much room to ask questions. I agree with the assessment on my teeth, I had to have some dental work done to avoid any future decay before I began my journey with fast braces. I went through the process and I will have to say I was terrified but they did not allow me to feel that way once I was in the chair. The way that Dr. Cigno spoke to his assistant was superb, any way you'd want to have a superior speak to you, an amazing learning atmosphere and I was enlightened myself and excited to hear the way things were going while the work was being done. I had real time conversations with the assistant, it was about me, not about what was going on. Number one way to build relationships and KEEP them! I had my fast braces put on just shy of my birthday in March, best gift I could have given myself. The process has been nothing short of amazing. I have minimal pain, no aggravation, and absolutely everything I had hoped for. I thought I would smile less due to the metal, I smile more. I thought that it would be a huge burden food wise, not at all. I have gone in and each time I was greeted with excitement, and a wanting for me to be there. I recently moved out of the city and they sent me a card of encouragement. I have never had any practice, CARE as much as they do. It is the middle of May now, and my last visit was just yesterday, mind you I drove 2.5 hrs now to see them. I was informed that my next visit may be my last, due to how quickly my teeth are moving and exactly where they need to be for a healthy, clean, elegant, and brilliant smile. I'm amazed, and undoubtedly a forever patient with Dr. Cigno. You don't just get patients, you earn them, and they have. The care, the quality, the professional and honest opinion with clear facts behind every reasoning was exactly why I made it a point to continue care with Dr. Cigno. I'm finally comfortable in my own skin, with my teeth being a huge insecurity, and I am so positive about the future of my teeth and my well being from this entire experience. I wouldn't hesitate to go, consult, experience what its really like to be taken care of here. Ill never be able to thank them enough. read more

*PLS READ PPL* I really wish I could give them a no star I would. This place is horrible if you suffer from anxiety/social anxiety they will soon get tired of your crap if you freak out (which I have three times) enough and will tell you "you never say anything" which is a slap in my face for something I can't control. I originally went there for cavities I had and thought this place was the one but soon or later it wasn't because HES NEVER DID THEM and I went in late February he didn't understand I wanted the pain in my teeth to stop but told me that my gum disease was more important than the pain I was suffering for weeks. He told me that they did certain areas I did have discomfort which took two teeth to get done in 2 months STILL DIDNT TAKE CARE OF THE MAIN PROBLEM. They also like to sneak things that you think their going to be "free" it's not I was paying full in cash and read my papers they give you and saw they charged me without my knowledge 200$ for a tooth brush and water pick which I could of got the same kind at the store for much cheaper. Some of the staff is friendly but if you get Vanessa god do I feel sorry for you. SHES SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL JUST LIKE CIGNO (I've seen and heard him snap at his staff and thinks it's okay to give them attitudes) and for someone who apparently understand anxiety from her daughter sure can't handle it or help it because those dog clicker they give you "to tell you if you feel pain" is crap. I had such a bad anxiety attack there I went thru anesthesia fast, she ended up getting frustrated and didn't stop when I said it hurt, they really cause trauma and made my anxiety worse. After I complained that I wasn't happy how that experience went they didn't care and cigno came back from his vacation thinking I'm gonna get my filling finally done, that never happen. He took his fat time to tell me "so I heard you had a bad experience?" THINKING HE'LL CARE HE DIDNT. I replied with yes with my husband there to support me. He goes on by saying "well I don't think we're a right fit for you and then goes on to sound ignorant to tell me "you'll never find a better place than this" then hides in the back while his staff member (Vanessa) goes on to make me feel like crap for having anxiety and processed to slander me right out the door crying in tears, I did find a better dentist and guess what HE DIDNT CHARGE ME 250$ to just see him. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE PLS, if you look at older one star reviews there was a similar incident close to my story. This place only treats you nice because you hand them money, it has and will always be about money not about the person. Also they didn't send me my refund back which they said they would (it's been 3 weeks) so I will have to legal action because that's just unprofessional on there part and petty. I spend over close to 4K there and had the worst experience of my life, PLEASE DONT NOT GO HERE! I went to this practice based on a recommendation from a friend, and not only did I have a bunch of fillings done that apparently weren't needed, but they also had me convinced I had gum disease and bone loss and needed 4 zones of deep cleaning treatment. I went to see a new dentist this month who laughed when I said that, remarking that my gums were as healthy as hers. I bought a Groupon to get an exam/xrays/cleaning from Cigno for about $60. I didn't expect to have any problems, just needed a cleaning. The new office environment is very nice and fancy. The hygienist and the dentist were both very quick to finish their work (which could be good or bad), but following the work and very little conversation with the dentist about what was wrong with my teeth, other than I had a few cavities, I was led to a room where I was to talk with a very nice and attentive woman about my "treatment plan." They had drawn up a report of all the work that would need to be done (7 cavities for $1871.60) and offered me a loan. Wow! I said "no, thanks" and left. After several months of waiting, I finally got into an appointment at the Marquette Dental Clinic. As it turns out (and this was checked by both faculty and my dental student), I only had 3 cavities that needed to be filled. They saw two others that were surface cavities in the enamel and thought these would likely heal on their own with proper care. The other two, they said were not there at all. (maybe they healed!) I even showed them the report from Cigno to have them look specifically where they had indicated they were - nope. I paid $367 (including $105 for a new exam and xrays) to have all the work done at Marquette. Dentistry isn't cut and dry - there are a lot of subjective decisions about what needs to be done when. Be careful here. Unless you want to unload your bank account and manipulate teeth that may not need it, I recommend going elsewhere. read more

Well, it's been a while and a lot has happened since my first review. It's true; I was very impressed with Dr Cigno, his staff and facility at first. Long story short, he recommended thousands of dollars of crowns, root canals and high tech cleaning work for me. All my life, I have always had good teeth and was never in any pain. After two crowns and root canals, Dr. Cigno recommending two more as well as a laser cleaning costing in the four digit range. After being offered no other less invasive, less expensive options, I thought I'd get more opinions. Since then, three other dentists have confirmed my suspicions that I was being up-sold services I didn't need. This is apparently epidemic in the dental, as well as the medical "industries". To his credit, the other dentists agreed that the work he did do was very good. I have since found a great dentist that puts my needs first, rather than those of his retirement account. I never write reviews, but this one is worth mentioning just to save the next victim from this dental office. I went to Dr. Cigno and at first sight, thought the place was great. I started my cleanings and loved the friendly staff. Once I got comfortable, things quickly changed. I had a small filing that Dr. Cigno found in my front tooth. He said it was so small, I didn't need any numbing. So I had him fill it. Two days later, my tooth was killing me. I went back to see him and he said I needed a root canal. This was very alarming, as I never had a root canal or pain ever in any of my teeth. But I researched it and found that sometimes a filling will wake up a nerve. That's of course what Dr. Cigno said. I did also find that a dentist can damage the root when doing a filling. Anyway, I still claimed them to be my primary dentist and decided to forget about the above incident since I couldn't prove otherwise. Six months later, my tooth is slightly hurting. My belief with a root canal is, there should never be any pain in that tooth again. I went back to Dr. Cigno and he said I had a root fracture and I needed to get my root canal tooth pulled and the two other teeth next to it because they are not strong enough to hold the bridge. The total cost of all this is $17,000. This is already after I paid for a filling and a root canal. Needless to say, I was horrified at this. Seemed like they were going to drain my entire savings for one tooth. I went with it though and made the appt. for Monday morning as they said I needed to make it asap because I may wake up the next few days in screaming pain. So I spent the entire sleepless weekend taking all this in and decided to go with my gut and get second opinions the following week. When I sent a text to the office girl (Kelly) to cancel because I needed to get more opinions, she became very rude with me. I was shocked. Did she not know the value of $17,000??? Who wouldn't get a second opinion? I soon realized she must be getting some sort of bonus for her sale. I ended up getting two other opinions from specialists and not a general dentist as Dr. Cigno is. All I can say is, thank you Lord for directing me away from Cigno Family Dental. Turns out that nothing was wrong with my tooth and sometimes a root canal can just be a little fussy. The brain remembers the pain sometimes and that usually goes away within the first year. I had NO cracked tooth at all. So for anyone thinking of going to this dentist, please be aware of their routine. They make you feel like your needs are of the utmost importance. Once you get comfortable and trust them, they will give you quotes and tell you that you need a lot of work that you don't. Please get second opinions with any dentist you go to, but for sure get them when Dr. Cigno and his so friendly staff tells you you need thousands in work. read more

The specialist was honest in telling me that I had no need to see him and that I should continue care with my current dentist (Dr. Cigno). I have been going to Dr. Cigno for a while. Dr. Cigno is in business to make the most money for Dr. Cigno. That's why no cautionary measures are ever considered. When Dr. Cigno examines he always finds an emergency of the highest order. My wife and I went in for routine cleanings in November. $7,000 later my 2 lower, opposite molars are still sensitive at the end of May. Consulting other dentists I learned how really wrong everything happened. Crowns, root canals (after the fact), extreme pain and lies put Cigno in the "Worst Dentist Ever" category. He even advised my wife and I to get "implant" bridges that aren't necessary. That would have given him a $75,000 pay day. No other dentist feels this is necessary. No thanks Cigno. I guess you'll have to find some other seniors to prey on. read more
