Months later, a new orthodontist started, and they removed her braces but failed to properly clean the glue off her teeth, requiring them to be shaved down. Then, they scheduled a fitting for her retainers and told us the earliest available appointment was two months away. I had to complain, knowing her teeth would shift during that time. Eventually, they agreed to call us when the retainers came in and just hand them to us. Within a couple of months, the retainers ripped, and later, our dog got ahold of them. We had been assured that if anything happened within the first year, they'd replace them for free as long as we had the pieces. I kept the pieces and scheduled an appointment. But on the day of the appointment, they called to tell me it would cost $450 to replace the top retainer. When I reminded them of what we were told, they said I needed to provide documentation. They should have had this in their records, but of course, they didn't. I found another review stating the same thing and called them back, only to be asked where I saw the review. They offered to do half the price instead. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told she was out of the office. When I requested the corporate number, they gave me a false one. I never received a callback. I've already spent so much on braces and received terrible service. I refuse to give them another dollar. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere--this place is a complete joke.

Both doctor and tech were open about each step without being intimidating. They are genuinely concerned for your comfort and conduct themselves effectively without being heavy handed. But my last two experiences were very bad. Last time I went here I was waiting (I think over 30min?) even though I made an appt. Fine, it happens. I got in the chair they took x-rays (great!) then sent a hygienist over and she did very, very, very little. They usually use a color coded probe to measure your gumline to see how much its receded, that was not done. They also de-calcify your teeth with a scaler/ultrasonic scaler (the scrapey part no one likes) she only did it on a few front teeth. Then she opened the prophy paste to "clean" the teeth and all she did was tap my four front teeth. That's it. That's all folks. Then they RUSH RUSH RUSHED me out the door. No one was that friendly either...busy I guess? Whatever. All in all very poor experience. They sure did bill my insurance though, of course! I thought maybe a fluke, one off? So I sent my husband in with tooth pan (cracked tooth.) I made him an appointment and everything. He waited FOR AN HOUR still and they looked at it, took a x-ray and sent him on his way. To be fair he didn't have my HSA card for payment so I get that. The real problem is (besides the ridiculous wait time) when I asked him about the experience he said "I didn't feel welcome there." and "They rushed me out so quickly." and "I just didn't feel like they wanted me there." Come home to my dog in her crate after a bout of diarrhea, definitely. Step on Lego barefoot, sure. Dr. Pietz and all of her staff excel at creating a calm, compassionate, professional and competent environment from start to finish. Dr. Pietz is an avid active listener. She really listens for understanding, validates questions and concerns and speaks to patients in a positive, respectful manner. I have never, ever felt rushed in any appointment here whether it's a consultation or a surgical procedure. I've had two surgical procedures with Dr. Pietz. She even lets me bring home the extracted tooth for the tooth fairy. That fairy has definitely not kept up with inflation! Okay, let me be honest. I have a lot of anxiety with dental work. One time back in the day I couldn't get numb from the local anesthesia and another time the anesthesia wore off in the middle of a procedure. Let's face it, during oral surgery you don't want the anesthesia to not work well. Definitely not cool. Dr. Pietz has listened and understood my prior experiences and my anxieties. She respects and validates the concern. And she pays special attention to ensure that I have effective pain control. You should have seen me. The first time that I was at the office for a procedure I was a #hotmess. Seriously, pacing in the hallway. I had such a safe and positive surgical experience (after the pacing in the hallway) that on the day of my second procedure with Dr. Pietz I never thought about pacing the hallway, not once. Nope. I sat back in the chair and meditated, calm as a cucumber. Both of the procedures that I've had done by Dr. Pietz had excellent, uneventful recoveries. Easy peasy. I wish she could be my everything dentist. Instead I brought cookies into the office and a thank you card. I've had a TON of dental work and Dr. Pietz is by far the best dentist that I've ever worked with. I bet she needs more cookies.
