Normally such a fun and unique place, unfortunately half our meals were forgotten when we got to go this weekend :( the shaken espresso was phenomenal and we opted for the turkey clubs which were also pretty tasty. Huge bakery selection and some gluten free options as well! Hopefully better experience next time.

Stumbled upon this coffee shop while my husband was renting a boat. I'm normally a black coffee drinker but decided to try one of their specialty coffees - a salted caramel latte. I ordered it with an extra shot of espresso. It was prepared perfectly. They also had freshly baked cinnamon rolls - they were ginormous. Bought one to share with my family of six. We all loved it. This is a cute coffee shop, with plenty of seating ;sofas in one area and tables in an adjacent room. They also had some really cute gifts and artwork for sale. Will definitely be back!

I have a mixed review for this place: Pros: - friendly staff - only coffee shop in the area - decent coffee - cool ambiance Cons: - unreliable Wi-Fi. When I got there, the Wi-Fi was working and fast. However within an hour it went down and I had to run my hotspot. - breakfast bagel was so-so, nothing to write home about.

While staying at the lake we took the boat over and found this gem. Wow is all I can say! The coffee was amazing along with the spinach and feta quiche. The owner (or manager not sure) was super friendly checking in on guests making sure they are enjoying their selections, we will definitely be back!

Excellent stop for really good pastries and drinks- the vanilla lavender latte was amazing!! We tried the peach hand pies, turkey sandwich on a bagel.. all very good . Super clean and efficient- staff was very friendly.

Great coffee drinks and pastries! Try the filled croissants. It was nice being able to drink my coffee while looking out over the water.

Very good coffee and breakfast pastries, not a place for a large sit down breakfast. We've been there 3 days in a row so far!

My g/f recommended Vinny's as being very good. Originally, we were going to go here for an early dinner on Thursday, July 4, but when we were driving from Franklin County, I exclaimed Prime Rib Thursday at Copper Kettle! So, I had her U-turn, and we tried that instead. Please see my 5-star of them from August 2024. We ended up going on Saturday, July 6. We arrived in this cramped front area, and someone sat us at a booth at a reasonable time. We sat in the booth over 10 minutes without anyone coming to even get us water or check on here. We were hungry, and I was already annoyed for this long wait and was looking on Yelp. I asked my g/f about trying Bella Vita, which she agreed and left about 15 minutes after being seated. It was a big disappointment. However, after my 5-star Yelp review of Bella Vita (which I got to reviewing in April 2025), my g/f said Bella Vita is a better Italian than Vinny's, so maybe for the best. Since I didn't actually eat at Vinny's in the end, wasn't actively denied water, or had some other terrible experience, it would be unfair to give than 1-star in this case.

My Husband always orders the Stromboli and calamari - it's wonderful... love the food, salads, nice deserts - everything and the restaurant....love the high ceilings, decor, and the space... I don't feel jammed together! This is a great place to sit eat unwind and refresh! Thanx for exceeding things i love to enjoy! SEE you soon!

This breaks my current…read morealphabet series of places gone to with my girlfriend from the beginning of our relationship up to Easter 2025, but I had just reviewed Smith Mountain Lake Coffee recently from last 4th of July week visit in 2024 and wanted to compare the two from visiting on the 4th of July itself in 2025 here. Westlake Coffee & Cafe was a bit of a mixed bag for me and perhaps more of a 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up in this case as I'm giving some benefit of the doubt and some things exceeded expectations. Also, a prior Yelp reviewer essentially said great sandwiches, nice staff, etc., what more could you ask for, and only gave 3-stars; never stated any reason why it was a mediocre 3-stars, so another reason I'm rounding to 4-stars. Also, I gave SML Coffee 3-stars, and I wanted to distinguish that Westlake Coffee & Cafe was superior to me. My girlfriend & I were staying at her parents' home around 4th of July 2025 and wanted to eat out for lunch. Lunch options are a bit limited, but we saw this online, menu, reviews, & seemed like a decent choice. My g/f's mom warned us that they are very slow, so have your patience. I said I know I read that online could take 30 minutes. Also, the portions are big and might consider splitting sandwich. When we arrived, I ordered a chicken salad sandwich & g/f got a turkey caprese both on sourdough bread. We figured we'd eat half of ours & switch to try each others. Also, I said we could split a large Caramel Latte, but it seems like I was charged 70 cents more than the posted price. My g/f believes that it was a 4th tier not on the menu. $5.25 small, $5.75 medium, $6.45 large, & not printed on the menu was a 4th tier Extra Large as it does say Extra Large on the receipt. This extra 70 cent discrepancy bugged me, but I'm going to give them the benefit of doubt per what my g/f thinks. The woman cashier was cordial, but wasn't quite as nice as Smith Mountain Coffee. I asked for water while we were waiting to another person, which I interacted with 2 staff members, the one I asked & one who handed me the water, who were friendlier. As for the wait time, this exceeded our expectations of the long 20-30 minute wait, it was more like 10-15 minutes, and while that's not great, I was pleasantly surprised when the food & drink was ready. The quality of the iced latte was far superior to the drink I got at SML Coffee. Huge win to Westlake on that! The sandwiches were better than the wrap I got at SML too. The sandwiches use Boar's Head Meats & cheeses. The chicken salad sandwich was great, and my g/f Turkey Caprese was solid too. As it turns out, we both liked what our original choice better than the other, but both of us like both. This is a small place with very limited seating, so better to take to go if it makes sense, but it's nicely decorated with comfortable seating. Also, the original cashier was friendlier at the end. She might've been slightly stressed with orders & our couple of questions. Overall, in spite of a couple of negatives, we'd return when down here.

During that entire time, no one checked on us or provided an update on our order. After 45 minutes, I went to ask for an ETA and was told by the hostess, Anita, that she had "no idea." Ten minutes later, I asked again, and she checked with the pizza makers, who said everything would be ready in five minutes. We explained that the only reason we ordered the appetizer was because we were hungry and expected it to come out before the main meal. Since it clearly wasn't coming first, we let her know we no longer wanted the appetizer. Ten minutes after the promised "five minutes," I went back to ask for another update. At that point, the hostess stated that our entire order had been cancelled and no food would be coming out. I explained there had been a misunderstanding...we only wanted to cancel the appetizer, not the entire order. We had been sitting there for over an hour waiting, so obviously we had not intended to cancel everything. The hostess repeatedly cut me off, insisted we had cancelled the whole order, and was extremely rude throughout the interaction. She then told us our food was sitting behind the counter if we wanted it. When she rang us up, she initially charged only for the appetizer part of the order. After I clarified again that we still wanted the pizzas and pasta, she re-rang the order for over $50. To make matters worse, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot (over 80 degrees inside.) My toddler was so hungry from the long wait that my sister had to walk down the street to Food Lion to buy her something to eat while we waited. The most frustrating part was that no one ever apologized, acknowledged the excessive wait, or seemed concerned about what had happened. After all of that, we finally got the food home only to discover that it was both cold and burnt. Delays happen, and we would have understood if the restaurant had simply communicated with us. Instead, we experienced poor service, rude interactions, no accountability, and disappointing food!
