LOVE Smith Mountain Lake Coffee House! We visit the lake once or twice year and I go every day we're there to get my caffeine fix. The s'mores latte is usually my go-to, though I've had several different drinks here and all have been great - hot or iced. They also have some really nice cafe food items that are nice for breakfast or lunch. We've had a number of their baked goods and have never been disappointed. We usually pick up several things to have at our rental for breakfasts and desserts. I've been often enough to make sure and get some of the seasonal options you can't always get. Their fall items are especially good. They've also got some cool merch and gift items. I've added a couple of pretty mugs to my coffee station here at home. The staff is always friendly and are very helpful with suggestions on drinks and food. If you haven't been in, you're really missing out. read more

Terrible service. Took over 30 minutes for coffee. If you anticipate a busy weekend then you should plan to staff enough people to fill it.

This place did not live up to its reviews. I had the berry salad yesterday. After paying for the salad they came out to say they didn't have the spring mix greens would romaine be ok. I did say yes . When they brought it out, it was missing the strawberries and the lettuce was partially frozen. Dressing in a packet and the turkey was processed . Yuck! read more

This place is just horrible!! That's actually an understatement!! A " CHRISTIAN" coffee house which proudly displays they are open 7 days a week! Makes you wonder how they justify this in their Christian minds! The coffee is mediocre at best and the sandwich's were just palatable. I've stopped here to get coffee a total of three times in probably the past couple years. Every time, it's left much to be desired. The first time I ordered a decaf iced coffee, no one knew how to make that. The second time, I ordered an iced coffee (not decaf) it was so bitter. Today, I decided to try again, iced vanilla latte. There is zero coffee, at least that's what it tastes like. It's vanilla flavored milk and I had to wait 10 minutes for it. Continuing my alphabet series with S is for Smith Mountain Lake Coffee House, 1 of 2 for letter S; both places out of town for me. My girlfriend's parent's have a house by Smith Mountain Lake, and she recommended SML. We were down there during the week around 4th of July 2024. We went the day before the 4th on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. In terms of the quality of drink & food, it's subpar, but staff was friendly & accommodating, which gets it from 2 to 3-stars for me. We went for lunch getting a turkey wrap & iced chai. Turkey wrap was decent, but it was kind of a small amount of meat & wrap overall. It came with chips. It wasn't that much food, but I didn't care too much as I was ok with a bit lighter. As for the iced chai, it was weak. It was mostly milk, not much of the flavoring. I told them to add more chai to it, which they did but it was kind of too late. They were nice and remade me a latte drink since I didn't like the chai. The latte was better, but not great either. My g/f agreed afterward that SML was weaker than she remembered. It's a cute place with a gift shop, nice staff, but drink especially was subpar. read more

We've been coming for breakfast and the wonderful cinnamon rolls and baked goodies- this morning we ordered and finished our breakfast before we received our coffees. Nothing complex but we waited 40 minutes for coffee. Very disappointed. Please do better. read more

Stopped by for a lunch on our way home from Roanoke to West Virginia. Great pretzel sandwiches and sat on deck overlooking the lake. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. I also got a huge cinnamon roll to take home. Great little cafe and the coffee selection looked great. read more

Normally such a fun and unique place, unfortunately half our meals were forgotten when we got to go this weekend :( the shaken espresso was phenomenal and we opted for the turkey clubs which were also pretty tasty. Stumbled upon this coffee shop while my husband was renting a boat. I'm normally a black coffee drinker but decided to try one of their specialty coffees - a salted caramel latte. I ordered it with an extra shot of espresso. It was prepared perfectly. They also had freshly baked cinnamon rolls - they were ginormous. Bought one to share with my family of six. We all loved it. This is a cute coffee shop, with plenty of seating ;sofas in one area and tables in an adjacent room. They also had some really cute gifts and artwork for sale. Will definitely be back! read more

Very disappointed visit today . I ordered a hot matcha latte with a pump of raspberry syrup. I received an iced matcha and no raspberry syrup . I told the girl I had ordered the drink hot but would take it as I had already waited long enough . The order ahead of mine had 4 drinks , 3 of which were hot and none were marked so the guys were trying to figure out whose was whose . With only one location now I would think there would be more focus on service . read more

While staying at the lake we took the boat over and found this gem. Wow is all I can say! The coffee was amazing along with the spinach and feta quiche. The owner (or manager not sure) was super friendly checking in on guests making sure they are enjoying their selections, we will definitely be back! read more

Such a sweet place! Very cozy inside and plenty of space with one room with tables and another whole space with couches and more seating. So many pastries to choose from that all looked amazing! We got blueberry muffins, raspberry croissants, the breakfast wrap and breakfast bagel, as well as a regular drip coffee and salted caramel latte. Everything was really good, especially the latte. Updating my review. The first time I visited Smith Mountain Lake Coffeehouse was shortly after they opened. I have been back several times since then and the overall experience has improved tremendously. They now ask if I want cream for my coffee and ask if I would like the bagel toasted instead of serving it to me cold. They employees are much more friendly as well. So glad to see the improvements. I ventured over to the Smith Mountain Lake Coffee house for a morning coffee and breakfast sandwich and left with a few slices of cheesecake for dessert later, too. I loved my nitro cold brew and the sunrise bagel sandwich was also good. Both my significant other and I enjoyed the two slices of cheesecake for dessert later in the evening and I personally preferred the cookie dough cheesecake over the strawberry. I did feel that the bagel sandwiches and cheesecake slices were a little pricey, but given their prime lake location, increasing food prices nationwide, and staffing shortages that are forcing higher wages, I understood. Overall, this spot has nice staff in a cozy location and great products. I hope to be back someday to try their lunch menu! read more

Checked this place out this weekend with some friends and we will definitely be back! We were able to get work done/read in the cozy cafe and then enjoy a nice lunch by the lake outside on the porch. The service was great and the food was delicious! I got the sandwich of the month: kickin grilled cheese and it was so good! I also got the espresso chip scone which was a delightful treat after lunch. I cant wait to go back and try other things on their menu! read more

A cute place inside in a very convenient location. Can dock your boat there or park your car. One of the busiest parts of the lake. We ordered several caprese sandwiches. They were okay, more like turkey sandwiches with a slice of mozzarella as the cheese. The roast beef sandwich was also fine. Wouldn't order a bagel again, very hard. I enjoyed the berry salad (I got it with balsamic and would again). Everything on it seemed fresh and there was a good ratio with all the ingredients. Also tried a few bakery items. They have a huge assortment and they change often. The apple cinnamon crumb cake was good (the top was yum yum yum) and the raspberry lemon cake was as well (very dense so filling). The chocolate croissant had a lot of filling but we couldn't tell what exactly what it was (for this I blame us because we heated it up ourselves). Covid: Packed place and everyone inside had a mask on. The person taking the order only had it covering their mouth and not their nose which makes the mask useless. We made a couple stops here this past week. The coffee house is located at Bridgewater marina on the top floor with indoor and outdoor seating. We love that we can boat there and there's plenty of courtesy boat slips. Their coffee is good but the cookies were the show stopper. My kids got a double dousey which is two VERY large chocolate chip cookies stuffed with vanilla icing (a bit sweet for me but delicious). She said no problem, took my order and My credit card info and said she would bring it out. 30 minutes go by and I am still waiting so I crack the door open and say something and the girl tells me "oh yeah its been ready its right here". Again I tell her I have a dog I cant come in. A customer ends up bringing my drink. There was other workers in there just cleaning but none of them brought my order out or even told me it was ready. read more
