Came here for a solo post-work dinner on the patio. The outdoor seating is lovely, and the staff is very welcoming. I was disappointed to find out they weren't serving alcohol (no margaritas!), but the food made up for it in parts. The Birria taco is a MUST. It's 10/10 and one of the best I've found in the area recently. I also tried the chicken, steak, and shrimp plate; while it looked great and the portion was good, the flavor was a little flat for me. The daily lunch buffet is amazing and I highly recommend, but if you go on a Tuesday then you absolutely have to take advantage of their Taco Tuesday special! Waited to get in for 30 minutes because there was a waitlist for Cinco de Mayo today which is understandable. Once got sat down there wasn't a single waitress that came and even asked if we needed water or drink drinks or even food. Waited 15 min and no one came so I went up and tried to see who our waitress was and no one knew. Waited another 15 minutes and I saw a random waitress and asked them who we could talk to about getting food and she said I don't know but I'll take your order and drinks. And then took another 20 minutes to get food and drinks before ending up getting it and asking boxes to leave right away. I had to then go chase the waitress to give them money lmao for the meal. I get it's going to be a busy night for a Mexican restaurant but the level of service no matter what is totally unacceptable and straight up rude. read more

Great street appeal! We were stying nearby and noticed what a cute restaurant it was. Inside decor was colorful and cultural. Food: No flavor! Chips were thick cut and table salsa had no flavor. It was taco Tuesday and we figured we hit this place up for dinner while we staying at the Great Wolf Lodge. Even though it was busy, we were able to get a table after walking in. It took a bit for our waitress to come and take our order. We split the chips and salsa for the appetizer. I got three chicken tacos along with a side of rice. The chicken tacos were bland and had no flavor to them at all. It didn't come with the rice at first and I think the waitress forgot about it. I asked her about it and it didn't come out until about 15 minutes later. I was going to tell her not to worry about it since I didn't think it was going to take that long to get a side of it. The service wasn't met according to expectations. I understand it was busy and things can be overlooked by mistake. The margarita was better than the food and I was surprised by it. Maybe the $1 taco deal on Tuesday can be intriguing, but I would consider somewhere else since the restaurant was a miss for us. read more

I've enjoyed eating at Cinco de Mayo in the past, but I was really disappointed by my experience tonight. I went in to pick up 12 tacos, and the young lady helping me asked, "Did you get 12 tacos before? Like a long time ago?" I said yes, I've ordered 12 tacos multiple times in the past . She then said, "Because some time ago, someone ordered 12 tacos and didn't pay," and then just walked away. I then overheard her afterward talking to other staff about me supposedly not paying last time. The staff sounded confused and even asked her if she was going to charge me for the previous order now. That kind of talk within earshot of a customer is unprofessional, disrespectful, and honestly embarrassing. After I received my food, I approached her and told her I didn't appreciate being accused of stealing $12 worth of tacos. I explained that if there was ever a situation where I didn't pay, I'd have no problem making it right--but being accused like that, especially so casually, was not okay. She then said she had made a mistake and that it wasn't me. I asked her for more information--like the date of the supposed unpaid order--so I could verify or prove that I had paid. She told me she couldn't give me that information. When I asked for the owner's name or contact info, she and the guy she brought over started asking why I wanted it and acted like they didn't even know the owner's name. This whole experience was frustrating and disappointing. I've supported this place before, but after being accused, gossiped about, and stonewalled when trying to clear my name, I don't think I'll be coming back. There's a right way to handle mistakes--and this wasn't it. read more

This place is run down, not super clean, and just ok. The food quality is poor, but honestly tastes decent. The best thing I had today was the Fajitas Mexicanas. Although they were out of chorizo, they substituted shrimp at no charge and that was great service. I just thought the restaurant smelled like a kids indoor trampoline park and could use a makeover in the booths and furniture/paint. Chips and salsa were just ok, but I've had much fresher versions of both at other quick Mexican restaurants in the area. Our server was sweet, and quick, but got a couple things wrong. No big deal. I would rate the service here zero stars if I could. My husband and I came here for a couple margaritas. We arrived at 9:00, knowing they close at 10:00. We sat down and the waitress asked what we wanted to drink without introducing herself at all. We asked for a drink menu and told her we were only there for margaritas not food. She didn't give us a drink menu. She asked us if we wanted the house margaritas. We asked for two top shelf margaritas. She told us we only get one drink each because the bar is closing. So we asked if we could order two margaritas for each of us, she doubled-down and said no because the bar was closing. She brought out two huge margaritas. Upon tasting them we realized it wasn't top shelf and tasted like margarita mix or lemon-lime Gatorade. We decided not to finish them and asked for the check. She brought us the check and she charged us for classic margaritas. We asked why we didn't get top shelf like we asked for. She told us it was because we didn't specify if we wanted Patron top shelf or Don Julio top shelf, so she just gave us classic margaritas. We told her they didn't taste good and we couldn't taste tequila at all. She responded that they hear that a lot. She didn't charge us for the margaritas. But as out of state visitors trying to support a local restaurant, we were very disappointed. read more

Boy, how things have changed here over the last year. Pollo con creama (pollo ala creama?) has been one of my favs for years. Today I got one of the worst meals there ever. I can only surmise they have new people manning the kitchen and/or changed their recipes. The pollo con creama today was tasteless with what consisted of couple of VERY thinly sliced grilled chicken breast with what tasted like plain old heated sour cream poured over with under-cooked raw STRONG onion. No green pepper's in the sauce, and no flavor, except for the strong, raw onion. And apparently they've hired some waitstaff that obviously don't understand simple English words and phrases like, 'artificial sweetener' for the unsweetened ice tea, 'hot salsa', or my usual favorite of theirs; the 'spicy green salsa'. That has always been so tasty I usually buy a quart of it to take home to enjoy. Not today! Today I got what appeared to be just plain 'ol canned tomatillo salsa with little or no flavor or pepper heat. No refill on the tea offered either. I've noticed over the last 4 or 5 visits things seem to be slowly going down hill. I don't know if they changed ownership, kitchen staff and/or cooks, or they've just let it go. I'm going to give it one more shot, mainly because I'm TRYING to give them the benefit of the doubt, but one more meal like today and I'll be looking for a new tex/mex restaurant. read more

Service was terrible. Waitress barely came to our table because she was talking to another table. The waitress didn't tell us what time the buffet closed, so we barely got any time to eat from it. She never refilled our chip basket and our chicken quesadilla was filled with onions and peppers. And don't even get me started with the fact that we had no refills. I've seen this Mexican place near concord mills for a long time and I finally stopped in, and I'm so glad I did. The service is great and so is the food. They have a great selection on the menu and the prices are very reasonable. The arroz con Pollo was excellent, I can't wait to come back again and try something else. read more

First time here bc of 4&5 stars we saw on Google. Taco salads were soupy not salads :'( and no cheese on salads :'( Drinks were quoted one price and then they charged us another price when we checking out. They didn't come check on us hardly. It was very dead on a Friday evening. So wish our experience was way better. Left message for manager so they could work on a few things for other customers but they probably do not care. Don't know. Wish they did take customers advice into consideration. God bless you all and yes I did still leave a tip. ;) wishing you all at Cinco de Mayo the best. Came here after a day well spent at Great Wolf Lodge with my boys and our friends! It was great! Our server was very nice and she was attentive to our drinks. The food, oh my goodness, the food! I don't know if it was because we were all starving from a full day at the waterpark, or if it was just that good, but the food was really good! I got a dish that had steak, shrimp, chicken, peppers, onions, zucchini, rice and queso drizzled all over it. Yummmm! My friend had a grilled steak burrito and said it was also very good! Her husband ordered a dish with chicken, steak, chorizo, peppers, onions, pico de gallo, guacamole, rice & beans. It not only looked fabulous, it was. My son ordered the burrito chipotle and he loved it! It had bacon on it and everything is better with bacon. Haha! The margaritas really hit the spot and I could go for one more right now as I write this review. My youngest son devoured his cheese quesadilla with a side of sour cream. Everything was delicious! There was no wait when we walked in either, so that was a plus. I will definitely keep this place in mind the next time we are in Concord. read more

Service was slow and not attentive- communication was off; I would ask a question and not get an answer at all or get it but a while later/ not the best especially when dining with a child! It was way too hot inside - the air con worked back by the bathrooms fine, but in the dining area we were placed, near the front door, it was just uncomfortable a lot of the time because it was hot! The server was very busy, but made sure we were All taken care of. Some of the dishes ordered were grilled Ckn salad, enchiladas verde, and a shrimp quesadilla. The quesadilla was mine, I never had one like that. But it was good. To me, it was a fajita in a wrap! It had peppers and onions and very little cheese. It wasn't pressed and cut. Went here for dinner. The place was clean. The staff was friendly. There was plenty of parking. We didn't have to wait long we went in around 8pm and we were sat right away. Not sure why this place is rated a 3.5 star and I'm glad I didn't pay attention to the rating! We walked in around 3PM for a late lunch we were seated and attended immediately, place was super clean and the five star goes to the food, I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food but I have to say this is one of the tastiest Mexican food I've ever had! All seemed to be very authentic and fresh! The Dos Amigos burrito was amazing, my wife ordered the mixed fajitas and for a person that doesn't eat much she polished a very sizable plate. Speaking of sizable plates, the portions are extremely generous! My daughter had the grilled burrito and ate the entire thing!
