We always have a great time here! We're definitely coming back. The nachos are tasty, but they can be a bit hit or miss. The chicken can be incredibly flavorful and delicious, or it can be dry and bland. The beef is always good. The toppings, beans, cheese, and meat are also a bit inconsistent. When the cheese is lacking, it really changes the whole dish. To make it even better, we think they could work on the portion sizes and consistency. read more

I wish we had gone into La Grande past the truck stop years ago and we would have been eating the BEST Mexican I have found in Oregon this whole time when traveling thru! There are NO words to describe how good this food is. The service was amazing & had the whole bar side to ourselves while the entire restaurant just filled with people by 5PM. The bar is so beautiful and feels cozy. Hermosa mosaic artwork behind the bar to look at. The items on their menu go from traditional to new and exciting things I've never even seen even in San Diego! Their Mexican Stir Fry is a must try dish! I LOVE the fresh, mouthwatering shrimp quesadillas! Cinco de Mayo is the place to go if you passing thru La Grande, Oregon. It's clean. When I say clean I mean clean. Been a couple years since my woman and I been to dis clip joint. Sometimes things change so we gave it another try, pulled in and sat down. The only changes were for the worse. It was freezing the night we were there. We was tired and chilly. I asked for a cuppa decaf but they didn't have any. I says well I'll have a cuppa organic decaf tea or decaf tea of any kind. But nope, they ain't got any. Gimme a break. The server didn't have a clue what organic or decaf tea is. I ordered a Taco Salad with shredded beef to compliment my cup of hot water. It was lettuce, shredded cheese or what looked like cheese but with no flavor and hothouse tomatoes apparently also with no flavor at all. The dressing was sour cream and guacamole and you guessed it without much flavor. On a scale of one to ten maybe I'd give it a two but that's because I'm kind. The best part of it was the shell it was served in. I didn't eat much of it but some, I was hungry. It wasn't worth eating that's for sure. My frail had fajitas with shrimp, chicken and so called "steak" The steak was so tough she couldn't chew it and everything on da platter was swimming in oil or grease. Not just a skiff of it mind ya, a pool of it. I didn't taste it, it wasn't appetizing. She ate some of it and left the rest. She told me it tasted like the sole of a worn out boot looks wit so much grease on and in it. Most of what we ordered was still on the plates when we drifted on outta there. I would have considered giving it to my dog but ... I like my dog. I can tell yas for certain. I've tried to like this joint over several years. I don't like it and I won't be going back again .. not ever. If you like decent food you would be wise to just keep on truck'in. Legrand is short on a great Mexican Restaurant. I have not tried Rauls so I don't know about it. Chain stores sure, if you call that food Mexican. They would be a better choice than here. read more

When a customer orders your food via DoorDash and doesn't receive all of the food that was ordered and paid for, that makes an unhappy customer. When that customer goes into your establishment the very next day, with receipt in hand, and asks for said item or a refund, I would strongly suggest not treating them like they're trying to get something for free when it's clearly been paid for. In the past was good and on top of their service. Trying to have a nice Father's Day dinner with my family and they've sat numerous other customers in the past hour and a half we've been here. Took forever to get our drinks to us and haven't remade the messed up drinks. The didn't list on the menu that one of their items had eggs in it, which is not good due to people's diets or allergies. I'm also going to add that when I was a delivery driver for a third party company it would take over an hour to get one order from them and it cost me deliveries and would short me on my paycheck. They did also tell me to apply when they were hiring because they're short staffed but immediately turned me down. All and all I miss when this place was good but almost two hours for a meal and they still expected us to pay the bill. In this small town of LA grande. There are three places for Mexican food Cinco de Mayo in my opinion is the top for consistency flavor service it's always busy. Everything I've had there. I usually get the Chicken Enchilada Suiza ,Chips ,salsa beans and rice. Sometimes I'll get the Carne Asada or I will get the fajitas with steak and shrimp. Everything's very good hot fresh and they take very good care of their clientele. read more

Stopped here on my way through town after a long trip. The atmosphere was cool and they seemed very busy. We were seated shortly after being greeted and I was able to get a booth as requested. The menu was HUGE and I loved that everything had the prices listed including their drinks. They also served salsa, beans and chips before your meal. I got a standard margarita and Los Dos Amigos. The margarita was really good not to sweet not to sour and had the perfect amount of tequila! The food portions were huge and i was shocked by the giant snow crab leg mine came with. Everyone was really happy with their meals and the server came over frequently to check it. She also gave me a to go water which was really nice. I would for sure come back next time i am passing though town. Much better than the Mexican place a block down that i tried last year. read more

As a whole this place is pretty good. We got our order to go and the food was ready when I showed up. I got the burrito, enchilada, taco combo and it was definitely a good amount of food, and it was really good. My wife got the espresso burrito and it was really big, but it didn't come with rice and beans even though when I asked on the phone they said it came with it. Also I asked for chips and salsa and they ended up giving us the large which was 10.95 so just be careful with that unless you want alot of chips. read more

First time here. Not impressed whatsoever. Ordered the 2 item combo with rice/beans To Go. I always rate a Mexican restaurant as decent, or not, based on how well they execute their rice and beans. If they can't nail this, then they're not worth their salt. The beans were watered down and lacked any flavor. The rice was actually alright but nothing to write home about. What gets me is the way they packed up the food to go. They put the rice and beans in one container then the 2 other items (burritos) on an aluminum foil wrapped paper plate. With another paper plate on top of that to cover the food?! They also included a small cup of what looked like enchilada sauce on the side as well as a paper bag of tortilla chips. If you're counting, that's 4 separate items. When I asked for a bag to place these items in, the girl mentioned it would cost .30 cents, LOL! Since I already paid for the food, I skipped the bag. Bad idea when I tried juggling all this to my car. I know this seems petty, but so is asking 30 cents for a bag! So, back to the food, it was all pretty tasteless and feel I wasted a lot of carbs for nothing. Skip this place and go to one of the many other Mexican food options. read more

We ordered takeout and was told 20 minutes. We arrived and as we were being helped by the cashier the manager came up and told her to do a different task. The manager then asked for our order number, looked at the bag of food on the counter and then proceeded to help four other tables behind us get seated and check two people out all while ignoring us. Fifteen minutes later the original cashier comes back, looks at the bag on the counter that the manager already checked. Turns out it was our food, and was completely ready for us to take. The food was now cold, and the manager denied doing this. He also refused to give an apology and claimed he didn't ignore use. The Mexican food isn't very authentic in my opinion (coming from someone whom lived in California right near the boarder their whole life , with INCREDIBLE authenticMexican food) BUT it's good . Especially compared to the other options in town. Recently however , the quality has dropped drastically . I feel as tho maybe they changed cooks and this one just doesn't care much anymore . They always had great portions and everything was always so fresh but recently it looks like they've been serving food that's been burnt or sitting out for hours and it also tastes that way as well a lot of the time .
