I really wanted to believe this was going to be a hidden gem, but was severely disappointed. The chips were stale, salsa was very spicy. I didn't bother with either after the first taste. That is not like me. I ordered a #8, taco and enchilada, chicken. I used to like a crunchy taco but not this one. I'm pretty sure it was beef, not particularly seasoned. The enchilada was chicken in a smidge of flavorless sauce that went with the flavorless, cold enchilada. My SO had the Colorado chili with beef and it was an unappetizing mess of minced beef in a lackluster sauce. It was, truly, hard to look at. There is a hot sauce on the table that is flavorful, but it was too spicy for my taste- kind of a theme, too much or nothing. I'm an AZ person. I can handle flavor and heat but heat needs to be secondary to flavor for me, a supporting role, not the lead character. read more

We were there on a very slow Saturday night. Ordered fundido dip. Chips were bad tasting and stale. Dip was watery with almost no cheese taste. Salsa had unidentified short white string in it. I gave up on chips and dip after one bite of each. Tacos Al carbon were ok. Tea was ok, but was cold when the waiter spilled it all over me. I ordered the seafood chimichanga, and my companion ordered the seafood burrito. I always appreciate when the beer is served ice cold, and that was perfect. The chimichanga was a bit underwhelming in size, but served with beans and rice. It was good, rich with cream cheese. The sauce on the burrito was also delicious. First the good. The salsa was flavorful and spicy - very good! And the owner makes her own sauces, a Smoky Oil Sauce (tasty) and Salsa Loca (very hot but flavorful). Chips tasted mediocre, a small serving and you are charged for a refill here. Wife had the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo and the sauce was very tasty, just not what a de Ajo sauce usually tastes like. It was a mixture of butter and tomato based sauce but it was flavorful. The shrimp were small and smelled fishy but this is off the beaten path after all. I had the Tacos Lengua and the lengua is always tasty even though it was boiled. I thought it odd that the corn tortillas were fried; they had a greasy coating on them. Rice and beans are mediocre. The most disappointing thing about the meal was the Blackberry Marguerita. It was small and diluted, totally overcharged at $11.95. Overall I got the impression that the owner is cutting corners to maximize profit, although the meals were decent portions. There is a 3.75% surcharge if you use a card to pay. I think we were served by the owner on a Thursday late afternoon and she was cordial but not overly friendly. The old building is charming but has a musty smell. I'll probably try the place down the street the next time I'm in town. read more

Swung by this place and was sadly disappointed. I ordered a Cadillac Margarita and ended up getting nothing but a glass full of sour mix. I couldn't taste any alcohol because it was so sweet and I'm pretty certain it lacked the higher end tequila or grand marnier included in a Cadillac. My chicken carnitas plate was sub par. They loaded my plate full of onions to cover up the fact I had very little chicken and the beans were thin and watery. My husband ordered a "large" combo which included a chimichanga and enchilada. There was nothing large about it. The portion size was as if he ordered from the appetizer or kids menu... so tiny! Seriously not worth the money. read more

We actually ate here twice, back-to-back, on our recent vacation (on second day, we thought about going to Terminal Gravity, but it was raining and TG didn't have anywhere to sit). I'll start with the food. It was very tasty. We ate far more than we needed, because it was just very good. I highly recommend the Arroz Con Pollo, and ask for some of their cabbage slaw (Curtido) on the side. The kids had tacos, and they ate them heartily. The service was great. It is run by a family, and they all pitched in. They were very friendly and had great service. Prices were very good. We had two kids meals, two adults who shared an entree (with leftovers still...), a couple drinks, and our total bill came to about $40 bucks. Quite affordable. Seating was comfortable, with a nice ambience inside. It was raining so we didn't sit outside, although they do have a nice outdoor seating area (both a covered deck/patio, as well as an open-air area). My wife enjoyed a margarita, and I ended up having a Terminal Gravity beer after all (in a bottle, though..). Free wifi was helpful, since I didn't get cell service there in Enterprise. read more

The only thing holding that 5th star is the lack of alcohol in their drinks. The margarita and their special sangria tasted good, just really light on that wonderful substance we pay so much for. The food was great! I had the chicken mole burrito which was good, but my friend had the burrito blanca (I think that's what it's called) and it was amazing! I'm a pretty serious about Mex food and that burrito had some unique and well-blended flavors going on. Too bad I live 400 miles away or I would frequent this place often. Stopped in for a reunion and didn't remember this little place. This was an old house turned restaurant, with lots of charm. My wife and I were told by the clerk at our motel that this was "A great Mexican food place," but since it was literally a across the parking lot from the motel we were skeptical. We walked in and were greeted warmly and seated immediately, the hostess brought chips, salsa and water. The waitress, who I believe is the owner, waited on us in a minute, was friendly extremely helpful and super nice. While waiting for our order, a man walked in who had been sitting at an outside table wanting a beer. He was obviously already intoxicated and had fallen or scratched himself. The waitress walked into the kitchen for about two minutes and returned and politely and professionally refuse to serve him and he left without incident. I have seen professional bartenders that would have not handled as well! Our food was served within minutes, hot and fresh and smelled amazing. The enchiladas were wonderful as were the beans and rice. The waitress also brought out a cabbage salsa for my wife that she recommended for the enchilada. It was amazing, gave the enchilada a fresh and cool texture that I have never tasted before! The only complaint was that my wife mentioned that her taco shell didn't seem to be an "authentic" shell but was probably a store bought one. The taco was still delicious. As the waitress passed our table she was taking dessert to another patron and told them "Here is your blackberry cheesecake," and I know she did it on purpose, as cheesecake is my favorite! The Joseph location is awful. I would not recommend anyone going here. The food is mediocre at best, the service a step below adequate and the management is rude and should not be in customer service. My friend found a hair IN her enchilada and the owner was quick to push the blame onto her or the wind! Who does that? He then asked what she wanted him to do about it. Go back there and make a new plate, apologize, and give her a free drink, duh!! When her "new" plate was brought out the enchiladas were hardly cooked, no sauce on them, and still no apology. We will not be returning. The 1 star is for the view when you sit outside. read more

Food was OK. The bill was super expensive. 1 adult and 3 teens for lunch cost $95.18. That included a 20% Tip. That was for 4 combo plate meals at $13 each, 2 Sodas and 1 cocktail. They have posted on the door that they also charge an additonal 4% or 5% if you use a credit card. I am still not sure how the bill came out to a $95 dollar total. read more

Mexican is usually not my first choice of a place to eat but after a hot bike ride from Joseph we were ready for something to eat in a cool, comfortable place. La Laguna hit the mark perfectly. Located in a nice bungalow house we enjoyed nachos and chicken tacos. Everything was freshly prepared and I found the cabbage salsa especially tasty. Best of all was the staff. They were warm, friendly and made us feel like we were sitting in their kitchen for a meal. What a treat! read more
