We had arrived late for Sunday evening dinner. Rob gave great service . The atmosphere was warm and clean. The on took our order for flat iron steak, with side salad and bake potatoes ( other options available). We enjoyed everything and the steak was cooked to request. We arrived at 1:00pm on a Sunday for a late lunch. We were quickly greeted and seated. Drinks were fast. The food was great. I ate my flat iron with no sauce, no extra seasoning, I did use both butters. My mother ate her rib eye with the house made red pepper butter. My sister's Mt Emily burger was hot and stacked. The sides, onion rings, side winder fries, and house jojos were warm and crispy. We used fry sauce to dip. With mixed reviews, we're all glad we decided to hit up Cove for food. Steakhouse at Cove, Review We left Joseph at 8:00 am for our 9:30 reservation. Best part of this experience was the 75 mile drive thru Lostine, Wallowa, Miniam canyon, beautiful day. We arrived on time at the Steakhouse at Cove restaurant for the advertised all you can eat Buffet. Our reservation was not recorded, but we were seated right away. The Hostess was pleasant. The restaurant was noticeably cold. Wide variety of breakfast items: I selected a small sample of each item, Bacon (cold and greasy), Ham (cold), Sausage ( cold and flavorless?), Scrambled Eggs (warm but mushy; obviously from a carton, Sink Scramble? (Sausage, cubed Potato and Egg, not tasty). French Toast, Pancakes, Waffles and Scones were dry and cold. The Biscuit was fresh, Gravy was very salty. As shown I didn't eat much of the above. I tried the pastry selection, Blue Berry Muffin, Chocolate covered Donut, some kind of Peanut Butter filled pastry and Homemade Sourdough Toast. Thank goodness for the Toast with some Smuckers Obviously we wont be back for the Buffet, maybe we will challenge the $50 Prime Rib. read more

Stopped by on Sunday at 11:30am-towards the end of breakfast buffet service. The food was great and the selections were numerous! Madison, the manager, is a lovely person and takes pride in what is being served! We weren't expecting a lot with our timing but were pleasantly surprised! We will be back! read more

Went there in November and the food was mid at best. Tonight I used Uber Eats to order a meal to go and they cancelled it without explanation. Definitely not on the list of places to patronize again. If they don't want online ordering then don't have it on the website. read more

Here was my experience at this steakhouse on valentines evening. we have reservations for 4 and showed up 10 minutes early to be treated and seated almost immediately. We where handed a valentines menu and was told they had their main menu available if we didn't want to order off of the valentines menu. The waitress took our drink order to come back 15 minutes later with our drinks and to ask if we where ready to order as we where indecisive on what to order. Another 15 minutes to get to order our food and appetizers. The bus boy brought our appetizers out along with some extra plates that I had requested. The appetizers where good and hot and we enjoyed them. After another 30 minutes we where still waiting for our main course as at this point nobody came by to ask us how we where doing or refills of my wife's coffee or any other drink ont the table. Finally after 1hr and 15 minutes of being seated our main dish showed up along with another appetizer that I believe went to another table. My corn was cold on my plate and the prime rib my daughter got which was one of the valentines specials was so raw the blood was coming out the steak. Upon asking my daughter why she asked for raw she told me the waitress never asked her how she wanted it done. At this point we dint want to bother the waitress as they seemed to be really busy with everything but what the customers wanted. As we finished our main dish nobody came by still to refill any drinks or ask for any other drinks from the bar or anything. We had asked the bus boy for a spoon and a coffee refill and that didn't happen. But we did get the bill on our table before we got any dessert or asked if anybody wanted one as the valentines special came with dessert and you had to order that in the beginning. when the waitress came back we asked for the dessert menu, she told us what was on the menu and that she would have to charge me for mine since my dinner did not come with dessert and I said that was fine. the table next to is with 6 people didn't even order and got up and left along with the table behind us as they got tired of waiting. I got my dessert finally with still no more coffe and no topoffs on any liquids as our glasses where empty but I guess that's another charge. I went to pay for this VALENTINES dinner and yes she changed the bill and added the dessert I had ordered and complained to me because the boss didn't schedule properly for the Valentines dinner rush. She didn't apologize for the wost customer service I have ever had and the way this place is run I will never be back which is sad since we love going out to dine. read more

Pretty decent steakhouse considering thet Cove is a tiny little town that's a half hour drive from LaGrande. The outskirts of Cove is open range and there are cattle everywhere. So when you order a steak (we had prime rib) it's probably locally raised. VERY expensive. Insanely expensive and the portion isn't even that big. But the meal was tasty and filling. The waitress was amazing. They also have homemade ice cream. Had a cone and it was especially good. The scoops were way too much and it was very sugary... too much for me since I am on a mostly sugar free diet. But it was very good. This is a popular place with the townies (obviously). Cove is pretty much off the beaten path so I don't know how many tourists they get. I happen to take defensive shooting classes in the area so I'll probably be back again. There's no place else to eat (or do anything else for that matter) in Cove. You have to go to Union or LaGrande. read more

We are from central Oregon and we had heard from the locals in union and la grande that this was the place to go for steak! We went today (Saturday) and they had a prime rib in special that was to die for! Our party also got the chicken, bacon Mac n cheese and the chicken melted in my mouth! The service was what put the cherry on top for me, Julie our server (in the bar section) was AMAZING she was just sweet and made it a joy to hang out. We played pool while we waited and they even have an outdoor section that you can drink and smoke. It may be the only tavern in cove but it's the place to be! We will be back soon! Very shabby inside and very badly decorated with painted beer bottles for vases with wilted flowers. The booths were ripped that were sat on and the service was terrible of the 2 people working the one lady could be heard yelling at the other coworker. The guy who took our order kneeled on his knees to take it. Very odd the steak was not that good and very overpriced. The price is what you would pay for a filet at a fine dining restaurant not a shabby restaurant with tacky decor who doesn't even have filet on the menu. read more

My son had the chicken fried steak and it was so greasy he could not eat it. My friend had a salad and the lettuce was wilted. The only reason for giving this a 2 star rating is the waitress was very nice. I brought my brother here for his birthday and we both got the 10 oz ribeye steak, baked potato, seasoned Vegetables and a salad. First the salad came out and being a regular iceberg salad it had peas and garbanzo beans, weird but I ate around those things. If I had know I would have said no peas or garbanzo beans like I said no tomatoes. My brother ordered his steak medium and I ordered medium rare. When my brother got his it was rare so he asked to have it cooked a little longer. Mine was ok but had no flavor and for a ribeye that is saying something. Well a while later the waitress brings out my brothers steak and it went from rare to charred. My brother looked at me and said I can't eat it. He gave me a taste and wow it had more flavor then mine. I spit it out because it was charred leather. So here is were the 2 stars came in. We called over the waitress and told her that his steak went from a bloody mess to charred. She apologized and said the meals were free. I was willing to pay for mine since I had eaten half the steak and the baked potato but she said no. I tipped her $7 for being kind and we walked out. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant for its food, which is sad because everyone had great things to say in there reviews on yelp and It is why I chose it for his birthday. The Steakhouse is back! And Chef Rob knows how to grill a steak. He serves up great prime rib to order on Friday and Saturday nights. The burgers are big enough to share and the house salad could be a meal by itself.
