This restaurant is the real deal. Excellent food. Super great service. I just wish I didn't hate Man O' War Place so badly. That whole area is a traffic accident wait by to happen. But, I'll gladly put my life on the line in that dreaded shopping center to get to Cinco de Mayo. First of all, the chips they bring out are perfectly sized. Not too thick that you're overcome with the corn flavor, and not too thin that they break on you. Seriously addicting with the salsa that has a two second spice delay. When that incredible flavor hits you, you immediately go back for another chip and another dip. One of the best chip and salsa combinations anywhere. I asked the server, who was phenomenal, what her favorite dish was. She immediately recommended the Molcajetes. I've never had it before, but I've seriously been missing out. It is an incredible meal of carne asada, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, and queso fresco served in this magical caldron of flavor. The server also advised that the meal was large enough for two, and I agree. It is so incredibly awesome. That's the meal to get. We were promptly seated upon entering. When the waitress came by a couple minutes later and asked to take our order, I ordered waters but told her we need a couple minutes before ordering as we hadn't had time to look at the menu yet. We looked, decided what we wanted, and waited. Finally we flagged someone else down and they took our drink order again (just water). They brought back chips, salsa, and complimentary cheese dip, but still no water and no one took our order. We finally found someone else after waiting a while longer, and finally got our drinks and got to place an order. We didn't really have to wait long for our food after that. We both ordered a chimichanga. I ordered extra sour cream, which I did not get, but there was enough on the plate, so I didn't ask again for more. My husband and I agreed that the food was good, and I will give two thumbs up for the guacamole. The reason I didn't rate higher? Long wait for drinks, long wait to place an order, and in this time of Covid I felt the dining room was overcrowded (also the reason I think the service was not great). The menu is large -- mostly the standard Tex-Mex stuff. We ordered the Cinco De Mayo Burrito, Street Tacos, and large guac. Also, two horchatas. We didn't find out until we got to our hotel, that we were missing the guac, even though it was on the bill (paid for). Hubby thought the burrito was "ok"; he did say that it had a lot of meat. My tacos were overloaded with some kind of white sauce (not sour cream, which I asked them to omit) that really soaked the tacos & made them quite difficult to eat. Again, "ok". Meanwhile, the horchatas were so full of ice, that I sent them back & asked for less ice. They took some out, but as a result the horchatas tasted very watery, with little flavour. Did you know Lexington has a Taco Week? I did not until my coworkers told me the other day. We decided to visit Cinco De Mayo to try their Taco Week Special: A Shrimp Taco and a Pork Taco. Upon entering, the restaurant was surprisingly not as busy as we anticipated. Our server said they had been fairly busy earlier in the day. The two tacos were only $5! The shrimp taco had grilled shrimp with jalapenos and a chipotle mayo all wrapped in a flour tortilla. The pork taco contained pulled pork with cilantro, onion and a spicy guacamole on the side. The shrimp taco was DELICIOUS! The shrimp was grilled wonderfully, but the chipotle mayo made this every more tasty. The pork was okay. There was a little too much cilantro, but I just took most of it off. This taco was a corn tortilla which added really good flavor. Our server was great. He was very informative and personable. In fact, everyone we spoke to that works there was so nice! Like I said, it wasn't too busy when we went. However, the other times I've visited here for lunch, it was busy. Keep that in mind if you're in a time crunch. The location of this restaurant is interesting. It sort of in the Kroger parking lot so it's confusing to get to if you've never visited. I also find that area congested and stressful since it's always busy. However, their parking is easy to navigate and is plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back soon! read more

My wife, her co-workers and I went here after work and I arrived a little bit later and they had ordered drinks. It took the waiter a while to come back and check up on us as he brought me my water. It took another 10-15 minutes before he came back to check on us if we wanted to order food. On top of that when we went to pay the bill my wife got charged for 3 drinks which equates to 6 drinks because of there 2 for 1 special. When I brought it to the waiter's attention he refused to change it even though she only had 4 drinks, because her two coworkers also only had 4 drinks. We come here all the dang time and had no issue. Always tip between 2-5$ and the occasional 10$ but as of tonight never coming back. Our waiter Claudia decided our 2-3$ tip wasn't good enough for her and added her own tip to our bill. Keep in mind our check usually is about 18-24$ nothing crazy so tipping 10% what do you expect. But nah she decides today she wanted to tip herself and add it to our check. Of course I refused to pay it because tipping isn't mandatory and if you don't like the money you're making get a new job. So even tho their food is good and owner is nice I won't come back after they decided to add their own tip. Even the other servers were trynna tell me they added the tip because we don't tip good enough and again I don't have to tip at all so they should consider themselves lucky I do at all. We went here for Cinco de Mayo 2017. The place packed at about 7:00 when we got there. There was about a 50 minute wait for a table. They don't have a bar so we went across the parking lot to Suttons bar and had a few beers. We went back and waited for a little bit and our table was ready. They had somebody playing an acoustic guitar and it wasn't Mexican music. She did play good 70s music which was even better. I didn't really care for the atmosphere, the dining room is just a square with tables everywhere and some booths on the sides. I ordered the Burrito de Cerdo Especial. It was very tasty! Thank you Klinton for informing us of the newest Lexington Mexican restaurant gem! When you step in, you would never imagine or catch a glimpse reminder of the former Cheezy mac that used to occupy the same building. When we first walked in we were quickly greeted and guided to our comfy booth. Those were the most comfortable booth seats that I've ever sat in! The waiter was seriously like the best in the land. He gave recommendations and explained to me exactly what the special of the day. Pro tip: not that I'm a pro, but the waiter was... always get the special of the day, it expands your horizons. Thanks to this special of the day, I learned that de Camaron means with shrimp. I ordered the phenomenal Chilaquiles de Camaron. It usually comes with red sauce, but I requested cheese sauce instead of red sauce. Another modification was the request of beans instead of rice. I said I wasn't an expert, I never claimed not to be specific or picky. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and my entire meal was not only picture perfect, it tasted as good as it looked. So we ordered through DoorDash. The food was delivered but most of the order was missing. I called our DoorDasher and she said that there were two bags with one receipt and one without and she insisted on seeing what was in the bag to make sure that was not part of our order which the manager told her repeatedly that it was not. We got our food with over $25 of the $50 missing. I called the restaurant and they gave me absolutely nothing. No one understood English, no one offered to help with the situation, and they said just call DoorDash and hung up on me. I will never order from this restaurant again based solely on their lack of customer service. Doordash themselves was awesome and they called me within a few minutes and refunded me the amount but that's still no excuse for poor customer service from the restaurant. Hadn't been here since before Covid. The Garbage can nachos are the bomb. Hubby had the Boom Boom burrito and it was huge and awesome. I had the steak street tacos and they were excellent. Our waiter Christian was very good and anticipated all of our needs. This is our new go-to in the Richmond Rd area. We always went to the one behind the car wash...never again. This restaurant is very casual, holds little atmosphere yet the food is always good. My favorite is chili rellano. Their margaritas are good. They have some outdoor seating but it is right by where cars drive so that does not give you any better atmosphere than they have inside! I do love going there though. read more

If you need a quick place to dine in, this is a good spot. The service is speedy & the food is on the table before you can polish off a basket of chips. The margs are adequate. I'm not a fan of their carryout orders, though. The tiny cup of salsa doesn't cut it. It was the size of a cup that extra sour cream or ketchup might come in. You can't even dip a chip in it.
