I chose this place for lunch when we were in Lexington on our cross-country trip. We hadn't had Mexican food for days. I opened with Tortilla Chips and fresh Guac served on a plate, which was smooth and very mild. Red Salsa was also excellent. Then I addressed a Super Pork Burrito with Refried Beans and rice. The burrito was covered in Red Sauce, where Verde Sauce seemed more appropriate. A Beef Taco with lettuce but no tomato was small and crispy. But other portions were big for a reasonable price. Diane's Fried Shrimps were a little overcooked. Our server was friendly, and the restaurant's ambiance evoked authentic Mexico. XXX-1/2 stars overall! read more

A local favorite with wonderful Mexican foods! Easy and plenty parking at the Richmond Road restaurant. Menu items showing photos . Friendly helpful server (Guerrero) on items we were not familiar with. Not at all crowded on or 7pm midweek visit. Ok seems like the correct level. It is just Ok. Holding off writing the review until after a few visits and it is consistently OK. I would skip the queso , guacamole is fine. The carne asada plate, a few of the combo plates were all fine. Nothing particularly yummy, nothing horrible. The service was fine but the older man who handled my table the last two visits was fairly gruff and inattentive. I saw him to order and to pay. My boyfriend and I were excited to try Durango's because we just moved close to this location. The salsa wasn't all that great, so we decided to give the queso a try. It's the worse queso I've ever had. I can make queso better and that's not saying much. It was so runny...the texture was like a thin watery soup. I'm hoping that this was just an off night for them, unfortunately for us, we probably will not be back to see. read more

While looking for a new place for Mexican food we decided to give Durango's a shot. I've not been here in probably 15 years but remember them being fine. The biggest standout from our visit was how friendly everyone was. From the person who seated us to the server and the cashier everyone greeted us warmly and smiled. The menu was what you'd expect from a local Mexican place and everything we ordered tasted good. The one downside were the chips. They were pretty much just thick, corn Tostitos. I'd prefer to see something a little closer to homemade. Otherwise it was a good visit. read more

This update has been a long time coming. As my son-in-law's favorite restaurant in Lexington, I probably wouldn't have tried it again after my first experience. Luckily, I love my son-in-law, so here we are! It's still a bit outdated, the salsa is hit or miss sometimes, but the steak is ALWAYS on point. I've gotten everything from steak fajitas, to steak chimichangas, and the steak is always tasty and tender. If you get a large margarita, do be prepared to stay awhile... they are HUGE! Probably the largest margaritas in Lexington. Ask for Jose, he is the best waiter there. read more

I love this place. I will drive the 30 mins it takes me just to eat here. It is quality, and the people here are so welcoming and truly care about the food they serve you. I always get the guacamole and Pico. It's so fresh, unlike many other places I've gone. I get the chicken fajita with the Mexican sausage, and it's soooo good. Durango's is a consistently good Tex-Mex neighbor restaurant. We have been going there for 30 years. It's a family run operation with friendly service and good food. Don't expect anything fancy, but you will feel relaxed and at home. One of the best places to eat at! The staff is always so friendly and so helpful. This place is a must have if you visit the area. All of their food is tasty and fresh. A family I babysit are regulars at Durangos & I took the kiddos here for dinner tonight while the parents are out of town. The chips and salsa were plentiful, the kids loved their quesadillas & fajitas, and my shrimp ceviche had a great lime zing to it (and had lots of fresh avocado- yum). What really made Durangos great was the service we had. While the kids were eating the chips like it was their last meal on earth, our waitress was quick to bring more out as needed and refill our drinks. She came by to make sure our food was okay and to bring out more tortillas and some extra rice for my picky eater- making it easy on the babysitter! I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food so I'm not the best judge of comparing restaurant to restaurant- but we all had a great Friday dinner at Durangos! read more

This visit was not an ideal one. We parked outside during COVID carry out and called our order in and just told them we were hanging outside when it was ready. We placed our order from the menu on their Yelp page. The lady said my order back to me and still messed everything up. I ordered a cheese quesadilla and it said it came with rice and beans and nope. When I called she said I needed to ask for it?! When I repeated back "i am supposed to ask for something it says it comes with?" She said Yes. Austin opens his meal which was supposed to be the pregnant burrito and when he opened the burrito to sauce it there was broccoli and cauliflower in it?! I am a born and raised Arizonan and lived in Texas for 7 years. I know my Mexican food. I have struggled to find something I like here in Lexington. So far, Durangos is the best I have found! I had the Chile relleno and they nailed it. Crave worthy! Chips and salsa is also delicious. We also ordered the fajitas. Although delicious, I prefer more of a sliced fajita steak then flat top grilled pieces of beef. But still good! Really looking forward to going back there! read more

I really don't yelp much but felt I needed to share how much I enjoyed my food here at Durango's. Chips came out warm and fresh, salsa tasted more fresh than some competitors I've tried. Quest dip was above average. I ordered steak and chicken fajitas they came out sizzling on the plate and were just a bit better than the average Mexican restaurant as well. I am so full and I don't feel comfortable, if that gives you any indication of how much food we got. We started with chips and salsa. We also got queso, which is delicious with salsa. The chips never end and the servers are just happy to keep giving out more chips. By the way, frozen margaritas are $3.75, what a bargain. I had a strawberry one and I thought it was delicious. By the time my entree came, chimichanga with chicken, I was already slipping into a food coma. The chimichanga was large. It was covered in queso. Calories don't count. read more

This is one my favorite Mexican restaurants!! If I desire Mexican, 9 times out of ten this is my go too. Employees are friendly and food is consistently good. Space is not large, so not ideal for large parties. I have had a party of 12 and it was cool. My favorite menu items are: Queso Blanco, Pregnant Burrito (with Queso Blanco instead of red sauce), Grilled Chicken and/or Steak Quesadilla. Prices are affordable as well. My only wish is the checkout system needs improvement. The last time we had to go to register to checkout instead of getting our ticket at table first. Nothing major. read more

I had heard it was a good Mexican Restaurants (from non-Hispanics) and I prefer Mexican Food so I went for a late lunch - after 3pm. When I sat down I asked if they had a happy hour - yes Margaritas and a Mexican beer - I got a weak Margarita Happy Hour price ($8.95). The sausa was horrible and the chips were broken up small pieces. I said I didn't want the salsa and was asked if I wanted queso - it was thin with a skin floating in it. (charged $4.95). I ordered a chili relleno, tamale (both cold, soggy - tasted like the frozen ones in grocery stores) and a beef burrito (cold, over cooked hard meat - rolled in a soft taco shell). The menu was a piece of well used and food stained paper (all were on the pile by the counter) and I never got my water. Everything had no taste - they didn't even use cilantro. The bill was $30.59. I paid and tipped - will never return. NEVER read more

Durango's is bottom of the barrel Mexican, but if you're in the neighborhood and craving something stereotypical, this is it. Tonight was only my second visit in 17 years of living in Lexington, but I couldn't remember a single positive or negative thing about my first experience so I gave it a go. If you're reading this review, skip Durango's and go on up to Cinco de Mayo (in front of Kroger at the corner of MOW and RR) or down to Papi's (on Euclid above Charlie Brown's). The chips are not at all good, for starters. They also don't have the greatest margarita specials, and isn't that kind of the appeal?! I didn't even order one. My boyfriend ordered (2) Tacate beers and they did bring those with frosty glasses, so that was a nice touch. We ordered the double beef, chicken, and steak fajita, which came with individual plates of lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole, beans, and rice, plus (3) soft tacos each. This is a GIANT fajita platter, yet they only bring each person a dollop of sour cream, very little lettuce, and three soft tacos (a good compromise would be four, although my boyfriend could have easily made a fifth). I requested a little more sour cream (and gestured to indicate something the size of a ketchup cup) in order to spread a thin layer on my third taco, and what did they do? Brought me a HUGE salsa-sized serving and charged me for it! I barely used two teaspoons of it! Wasteful. I hate waste. All the fajita flavors were what you'd expect, and the portions of everything were good, EXCEPT the shrimp. We counted six popcorn shrimp in that entire platter.
