This is half of the carryout Popeye Quesadilla with a side of rice.. (Was hungry before taking a picture.)

2.5 based on quantity of food and cost but 2.0 based on quality For starters, I tried to call in a carryout order and no one answered the phone-several times. I wasn't sure if they were even open on a Monday. Decided to drive over and they were open but maybe not hearing the phone or not bothering to answer because it was pretty crowded. Upon entering, the ambiance is boisterous, upbeat, casual. I placed my carryout order and had a small margarita while I waited. Since some reviews raved about their margaritas, my expectations were higher than what was served. It wasn't bad but also not amazing. Seemed to be pre-mixed. Upon getting the dinners home, my mom had ordered grilled fish tacos. She said the tacos were soggy and the fish was just okay. I ordered the Popeye Quesadillas with of course spinach but also chicken. It included rice and an avocado sauce with a sprinkling of pico de gallo. If you're ordering a dish with Popeye in the title, wouldn't you think spinach would be plentiful?! I'm disappointed to say that was not the case. The dish was mostly the flour tortillas with what tasted like very processed cheese, chicken and very skimpy spinach, plus the avocado sauce and sparce pico de gallo. In fairness, I will point out that this dish would normally come with refried beans with lard, so I asked to leave off the beans due to the lard. Both of us ate what we could of our meals and pitched the rest. I will say that the prices were fairly reasonable, but it was maybe a step up from Taco Bell, except with a bar and a restaurant atmosphere. The staff I encountered were nice, but the food wasn't anything to make me want to return. If you're not too picky about your food and drinks at a relatively reasonable price, you might enjoy this place. The parking lot appears to be full every time I've driven by, but can't imagine that I'll be back.

Oh my server Alex! He was amazing nice and very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all my questions. No matter what you get on the menu it's always amazing new to the area and been here the last 5 weekends and just go!! I heard they have live music on the patio in the summer and I'm so excited!!!

Cinco de Mayo is a great Mexican restaurant for everything! Margaritas, queso, street tacos, fajitas, chips & salsa, desserts- ALL of it is amazing!! You can't go wrong with their cheap lunches! I couldn't believe my eyes when the bill was brought to us. Under $20! We got an appetizer, two lunches, and a dessert! What a deal. We come here for a quick bite, with a large group, girls night, with the kids, anytime is good for Cinco de Mayo! The fajitas are their specialty, but I can't get past the amazing street tacos they serve here. The meat is cooked to perfection! The staff is friendly and inviting. The ambiance brings me right back to Mexico. Cinco is located right on the Michigan-Ohio border. It's worth the trip!

    Good prices!

I travel the country for work and every different Mexican restaurant I eat at, I only order one of two items. Either Chori Pollo or Chile Verde. You can learn a lot but a Mexican restaurant but these two items. This restaurant has THEE BEST Chile Verde dinner plate I've ever had (outside of my mom's home cooking!). I only wish it was MORE chile verde and less salad. Salsa was BOMB too!

Enjoyed a quick dinner before they closed. Delicious and fast- Mango margaritas were made strong and perfect! We enjoyed the nachos, chorizo dip and camarones al mojo de ajo- all 3 tasted great! Beware: the chips & salsa are not unlimited here. Eat accordingly- LOL

My husband and I have been here three times now and I've posted photos from those visits. The food here is very good and we haven't been disappointed yet. Everything comes fresh and hot to the table. The staff wears masks and are also polite and attentive. We've managed to sit at the same table each time and felt pretty comfortable with the social distancing. The restaurant overall is quite busy but I can't speak for the social distance or COVID protocols taken in the other areas of the restaurant.

3.5-ish For starters, the name of this restaurant (according…read moreto its own sign) is Taqueria Carnales, not Carnales Taqueria (as listed on Yelp). Anyway, this is a place for people who enjoy highly flavored and spicy food. Seriously, ask them to go easy on the jalapenos if you aren't up for spicy. I ordered everything as is for my first visit for takeout and enjoyed it but it was on the edge of too spicy for me, (chicken grande burrito) without actually crossing the line.Very much crossed the line with the shrimp tacos, imo. I ordered the following: Menudo Soup (made from cow's stomach); Shrimp Tacos and a Chicken Burrito Grande. The estimated prep time was 15 minutes and the food was ready on time. It's a cute, small restaurant that is very clean. While you could choose to dine in, I didn't see anyone eating there and it appears that most of their business is carryout. Upon arriving home, I found that the Menudo Soup had spilled inside the plastic bag. Not too big a deal. The other entrees were packed in styrofoam containers. The burrito was wrapped in paper and foil. My mom had the Menudo Soup and said it was good. She had one of the three shrimp tacos and said it was okay but that she wouldn't crave them. The avocado slices looked very fresh. My mom loves spicy food but she commented that the soup and tacos were very spicy. As for my chicken burrito, it was unexpectedly spicy in a mostly good way. The burrito was stuffed with everything inside - guacamole, rice, chicken, refried beans (very little), cheese and jalapeno peppers. It was a delicious combo but I would have preferred the individual ingredients to be separate. The biggest problem, however, was that the foil wrap made it difficult to cut into the burrito without also cutting into the foil. I think it's more of a "me" issue that might not bother anyone else. Overall, I would order from this restaurant again. The quality is definitely way above Taco Bell, but it's not quite fast food even though it's next to a Subway. Also, I asked if their refried beans were made with lard and I was assured they were vegetarian. If I hadn't seen so many positive reviews on Yelp, I wouldn't have known to check out this spot, but would encourage you to try it too for high quality, authentic Mexican cuisine! EDIT/UPDATE: I tried one of the shrimp tacos that my mom left in the fridge. OMG, it was super spicy to the point of giving me hiccups. Plus, the spiciness seemed to come from a creamy cheese sauce added to the shrimp tacos after they were cooked. I can understand why my mom wouldn't crave them and I would never order them myself. Based on your personal preference for spiciness, let this give you an idea of the level of spiciness that could be added to your food unless you request your dish to be less spicy. Recommend with caveat re spiciness.

Had a strawberry margarita that the bartender went around the rear of the bar to make. Weird but it tasted pretty good. The bartenders/servers were all friendly but not especially helpful. Just kept saying everything is good. Everything is good. Went basic n got small queso and a chicken quesadilla. My girl got a fajita, tamale, n rice n beans. Pretty good chips for the queso. Quesadilla was ok. My girl raved over the tamales n she even ordered a few to go. So ordered another round while we wait. Now this margarita tasted like straight margarita mix. Yuck. I was straight sober after 2. Later that evening my girl texts me she been on the toilet all evening. Change of shift comes and the bartenders mention happy hr. No mention of this when we arrived or anything. I didn't see anything on the menu about it or their website. I didn't order anything else at that point. New bartender that comes in around 3, not so friendly and puts reserved signs at the bar to save seats for her girls. Never seen this at a Mexican restaurant before but whatever. She seemed to go out of her way to NOT be friendly. Counted as a one off til I went back a few more times. Same bartender complaining about folks coming in an hour before closing, still unfriendly. Still for me, the food is just eh. Maybe its just the chicken that's not great because my man came n enjoyed some quesabirria tacos while I picked at a chicken taco. Don't recommend the margarita unless u pay extra for freshly made or better yet wait for Fronteras Mexican restaurant to open back up. I like friendly bartenders n good chicken. Average here.

She was so attentive and insightful, we took all of her requests and they were amazing. She was constantly checking in on us and gave us boxes, lids, and salsas to go which was amazing. She definietly was a big part of how great our experience was. The place was colorful and full of life which I loved. The "Steak a La Mexicana" was sensational, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the flavors were amazing. I requested the vegetables to be kept crunchy and they were perfect. They also give you large portion sizes of the beans, rice and salad all alongside a NY strip for only $17. Crazy good deal. We tried the Birria as that is what they seem to be known for and it was amazing and the consume was sensational, we asked for a side of it togo and we dipped everything in it. The arroz con pollo, wet burrito, and chips salsa/queso were all great as well. Everything was seasoned great and the refried beans and rice were awesome. I cannot wait to come back and try more of their menu, especially fajitas and the birria pizza and mexican pizza. it also looked like they had good weekly specials that I will be sure to keep an eye on and check out. HUGE menu so you will definitely find something you will LOVE.
