Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday after watching the Burger Review Guys video. The place isn't huge, but they sure do make up for that in the food and service! Going down Central, you might miss it. It's on the corner with Centennial. Walking in, we were greeted by a gentleman behind the bar, which is on the right. The dining area is to the left. Everyone, and I mean everyone is very nice, and friendly! I had a burger. Advertised as angus steak burger. Man , it was delicious! Everything that you hoped a burger would taste like. The fries were delicious also. The husband had a patty melt and HUGE steak fries. He said that his meal was one of the best he has ever eaten. Prices are decent for the amount of food, around $36. We didn't get anything from the bar, but it looked like they had a pretty nice selection. One perk is you can pay your bill at the table from your phone. I would eat there again in a heartbeat! So the medical staff at University of Toledo made a reference to this out of the way spot over in Sylvania OH. We redirect our drive home by 10 miles & pull into their packed parking lot. We walk in & there is ONE open table - my wife asked 'should we just sit at the bar?' Of course I agree, and all of a sudden she's bolting across the room & hugging a vaguely familiar face. Linda was in her wedding party 25 years ago, and we toured France with them 20 years ago. Now tell me this isn't this a small world? Figure the odds of this encounter! Marilyn calls her hubby & we sat and rattled off memories for 90 minutes no stop. Okay enough about the long lost AZ friends - ordered a half pound burger perfectly grilled medium rare. It had to sit 4.5 inches tall with all the LTP stacked with a toasted Brioche bun. Had to carve in half just to squeeze it into my wide open mouth. I don't know what the cook's seasoned it with but it was one of the top 3 burgers I've ever enjoyed. Sautéed Shrooms, Swiss & juicy burger were history in near record time. As we were leaving I spot the owner/manger interviewing a lady - stopped and politely excused my interruption, but paused to commend him & his staff for a great luncheon. His expression was a bit shocked as he normal would hear an ear full of grumbling comments. After all this background, would I return to The Fairway Bar & Grille again - you bet on our next drive into Toledo area. The food and service is always top drawer. My husband and I often share an entree. It comes on two plates with the two sides on each plate. How many restaurants put the order on one plate and give you an extra plate? They also give full side portions to each of us. That is the extra touch I have not found anywhere else. We stopped in on a Friday evening. It was pretty busy but we scored a table for two near the bar. We had the pork chop and the beef kabob and ordered the cod chunks as an appetizer. I'd probably give Fairways a 3.5 but not a 4. Without a doubt I will go there again though! We started with an order of onion rings. They were fresh, hot and tasty, not overly greasy. My brother in law had been here before and recommended the perch so all 4 of us ordered a perch sandwich. It was good but not great. It was fresh tasting but just average, served on a brioche bun. I had it with a dinner salad and was surprised at the large size. It was fresh, crisp and full of cucumber and tomato. This restaurant was recommended to us by a family member so we decided to try it. On our first visit on a Friday we arrived early, at 4:30 PM, to avoid a long wait. Nevertheless, it was already busy and my wife and I waited about 20 minutes to be seated. It is a small venue with limited table seating but features a good sized bar. We liked the ambiance and atmosphere. It was mostly an older crowd and reminded us of a good old fashioned dinner place of our parent's era. However, after being seated we waited over 20 minutes before a server approached our table for our drink order. Meanwhile the table next to ours was seated after us, got their drinks and salad course before anyone even acknowledged us. My wife, a former server herself, was not happy with that and wanted to leave. I was attempting to dissuade her when a waitress finally appeared. I think she sensed my wife's displeasure as she was very apologetic. I tend to be a little more forgiving of such issues. In any case, our drinks were promptly served and soon followed by our salads which were fresh and ample. I chose the Lake Erie perch sandwich while my wife ordered a burger. The perch was excellent and my wife enjoyed her burger. We both had a baked potato as a side dish and found them perfectly done. In spite of an uneven start to our first visit, we have been back twice since and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good old fashioned food at a reasonable price in a relaxed and cozy place. read more

The food & service are excellent! One of the best Reubens I have ever eaten. The corned beef was "real" roasted & sliced in house, the flavor was outstanding. Their Walleye and Pearch are both winners. The fact that the owner is not only greeting customers, but also busing and cleaning tables says a lot. The menu is varied and has much to offer. They are offering Jiggs dinner the 17th of every month and it smelled and looked wonderful. Way more than anyone should eat at one sitting. I had half sandwich and sweet potato fries - packed sandwich and awesome fries. Ask for Carmel dipping sauce! My friend had an equally awesome wrap. Service was efficient and timely. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu. She was very efficient, checking often to make sure all was well. The place is fairly tight inside and was doing a brisk business. I have visited this restaurant three ties in the past week and tried man items on the menu. the perch is the best in town. There menu is traditional local fare but done exceptionally well. All our servers have been great! There is a new owner and I talked to him. They are renovating this week and are revamping their menu as well. I can't wait to see what is new on the menu. Good variety of selections on the menu. Actually more than I could imagine. Pricing was a little higher than expected. For a family of four, the bill came to over $60. Even though not much was ordered.The waitress was newer, and didn't know much about the items on the menu. Food was mediocre at best, with smaller portions.
