Things to consider: It's an investment - time, efficiency and the sense of joy of an organized home should be considered the criteria as success. Handyman charges an hourly rate of $140/hr. In hindsight, I would rather a fixed rate by project. You can save costs here if are handy and have the desire to do things on your own. I spent more than I planned, because I didn't have the interest or capacity for such. I was a bit hands off and didn't get overly in the details. I had Just closed, eager to get settled. Everyone I've shown the finished product to is excited about how my project turned out and wants to do the same thing for themselves. I will likely revisit using them to help me edit and keep myself organized, which is a service they offer. I'm back to work off holiday break, with an unboxed home that's organized, but it will cost you. When I move again, I will definitely factor this service in my relocation budget.

I had a storage space that was an absolute nightmare which I needed to get a handle on in preparation for an impromptu out of state move. Spruce Goose's own Jennifer and Kristen came to the rescue. They each worked about five hours straight non-stop, organizing, labeling, sorting, etc. A particularly challenging aspect concerning this job is that the space was very confined and limited so it was like trying to solve and manipulate a giant Rubik's cube. The weather didn't help matters, but that was no deterrent to these gals--they pushed thru like real troopers. They were both very professional and worked efficiently without judgment. Wished I could have had them each another 5 hours or more as this was a particularly big and convoluted job--sorting through years of accumulated items, clothing, tools, supplies, and personal treasures all out most of which were in disarray. The end result, while not totally completed due to time and other constraints was nonetheless satisfactory. My main reluctance to the possibility of using Spruce Goose again would be that their rate$ are very high in my opinion--but then again, if I factor in the value I place on my personal time I suppose they are worth the extra premium! I could have handled this job myself but the emotional and energetic toll extracted would have been significant.

We needed somebody who could be on site and make decisions with little direct guidance. Denise did the design, the required budgeting, and the planning work upfront to make sure all the required materials would be ready. Then, being the one-stop-shop she is, Denise and her team were able to supervise the clean-up, do the required touch up of paint and such, assemble new furniture pieces, and provide and install all the original art needed to make the place a show stopper. Moving is normally so stressful and overwhelming but having Moxie here was the magic cure for that! (The other major component was using Heavenly Moving to do a full service move that included packing- highly recommend!) The Moxie team had EVERYTHING out of boxes with the cardboard broken down and packing paper all bagged up when they were done. They left me with a beautifully organized home, including all the drawers, cabinets, closets, even the "junk" drawer (which is too nice to even be called a junk drawer now lol) and the peg board in the garage! If I had tried to do the unpacking myself it would have taken months, it wouldn't have been completed so nicely, and there are things that would have probably never gotten done at all. The painful process was somehow made doable by Kat and her team (shout out to Emmerie!), with their firm but gentle persistence to get it all done. Moving with two toddlers was completely overwhelming, but they unpacked and got us organized in the new house in just two days.
