The menu is full of classic Southern comfort food, like fried chicken, meatloaf, pork chops, and plenty of sides. We had a group of four and everyone got the $10 lunch plate special which comes with one meat and two sides (+cornbread)! Honestly I don't know of many places that have such a great lunch special. I got the catfish with mac and cheese and collard greens, and Nate got fried chicken (choice of a leg, thigh, or wing) with green beans and mac and cheese. Others in our group got the meatloaf. Service was very friendly and welcoming! Order at the counter and they'll bring your food out. The wait is well worth it because their catfish is the best I've had - it was super crispy on the outside, with tender, perfectly seasoned, flaky fish. I love the collard greens and the mac and cheese is creamy and delicious. It's a very generous portion of food for only $10, you really can't beat it. I loved this meal and will definitely be back for another $10 lunch plate! I'd love to try their pork chops soon.

Noco Provisions, Grand Rapids, Michigan…read more While visiting a local whom I've known since law school 40 years ago, we stopped at Noco Provisions on Cascade Road, Grand Rapids in late June 2026. We arrived around 5:30 p.m., early enough that there were still places to sit, inside and outside. Our host explained that the tables were full at the moment, predicting a table would be ready within 15 minutes. We agreed and headed to the bar. As we were getting settled there a table opened up and we brought our drinks from the bar to the table (Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay, $15; White Claw ($5) and a Bombay Sapphire ($10), all subject to a 3.5% surcharge, which is never actually explained, so we can't tell if the server gets to share in the benefit of the surcharge or whether he or she gets nothing from the charge. I assumed the restaurant was not sharing this money with the service staff, so I tipped as though she was not a beneficiary of the charge. Service both at the bar and at our table was great. I ordered the Prime Rib French Dip ($22.00, thinly sliced prime rib topped with melted white cheddar and au jus. Served on a toasted hoagie bun with fries). The meal was presented with less than a 20-minute wait, totally in line with the venue. Our server was observant (she kept our water glasses full) and helpful. Since the sandwich was pretty substantial, I was able to box up half plus the leftover fries, making a great lunch the next day. Great service, authentic American menu, nice indoor layout with equally nice outdoor seating.

Judy's walls are covered with family photos. Wow what a neat look. Nothing fancy, just a bunch of family photos. Seems like something my mom would do. I also think this says something about Judy's. Not knowing the area, we asked Siri if there were any good breakfast places nearby. Judy's was at the top of the list, and we were a block down the street. I drove up, saw the front parking spot open, and took it as a good sign. So glad! THIS is an American diner! The decor could be called "kitschy," but it really feels like I just walked into someone's grandma's house, in the best way. Family photos (probably friends, too) are everywhere. The warmth. As for the food, I'm running out of room. I'll just say that I ordered the mini & couldn't quite finish it (yes the bacon is fantastic, btw). Then I saw a guy getting a burger delivered at 8:30ish, and darned if I didn't wish I'd ordered a burger for breakfast! Hats off to that guy, and that burger! Now. The service. See, when everyone who enters the door is treated like they're already friends and could be family, it's hard to find anything better than that. Four people were circulating in the dining room and every one of them stopped to ask us questions about our day, our food...you know: conversation. These folks are so grand.

At first I was hesitant because of the price, and it being biscuits, but they made me eat those words and more. It was like a large biscuit muffin top with jalapeño, cheese and honey glaze (I think) and it came with a white cheddar cheese sauce to dip it in that was outrageously delicious. For a guy who hates cheddar biscuits, I've got to say I'm blown away. My wife ordered the steak with fingerling potatoes and carrots. It was on the pricier side, but yet again well worth it. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the veggies were pretty good too. They had live music playing as well tonight. It was a jazzy kind of vibe and it didn't over power anyone talking or anything. The guy had some serious skill too. To top it off, we had some pretty killer service from everyone there. From the hostess taking our names, random servers walking around, and our fantastic server (I forget her name but she was blonde and worked upstairs and had a a really great attitude. The expo or food runner dropping our food off anticipated us possibly needing an extra plate and brought one without asking which was super awesome and ended up coming in handy ( I knew my wife wouldn't finish that steak alone) and she brought it without asking and was ready with a smile to get more. I used to be a GM (I hate when people use this saying but...) truly I know how hard it is to find good workers and the folks running it here seem to have it down. I come from a place where you have to drive 100 mi or more for average service. So seeing exceptional service is really almost too good to be true. I'd definitely stop in for a bite. It's worth every penny. We'll be back for dessert, they have seasonal crème brûlées!

I dined at TOG today for a business lunch and, unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing…read more At the end of our meal, I asked for a to-go box because I had barely touched my food. My guest and I spent most of our lunch talking, and I left with nearly an entire meal. About 20 minutes after leaving, I realized I had forgotten my box and immediately called the restaurant to see if it was still there. The young lady who answered the phone asked where I had been seated. I explained that I was at the very first table at the front of the restaurant. Within seconds, she told me there was nothing there. Her tone made it clear that assisting me was not a priority. Given that the hostess stand is located at the back of the restaurant and I was seated at the front, I do not believe there was enough time for her to actually check before dismissing my concern. After I sent an email regarding the situation, the hostess responded that she had walked through the restaurant looking for the box. Based on the timing of our phone conversation, I find that difficult to believe. In her response, she also stated that she checked with the servers after our call had ended, which suggests that no real effort was made while I was on the phone. What is most disappointing is that I am a regular customer. Today, I paid $56.00 for lunch for myself and my business guest. Between a server who was largely absent throughout the meal and the dismissive interaction when I called about my forgotten food, the level of service fell far below what I have come to expect. Everyone has an occasional bad day, but customer service is often defined by how issues are handled after something goes wrong. In this case, I felt dismissed rather than helped. Unfortunately, after today's experience, I do not plan to return.
