Old Goat Grilled Cheese (up-charge hand-cut fries) with a side of ranch
    Carrie H.

We sat at the bar for a late lunch. It was very full of what seemed like regulars. They have an excellent happy hour menu with drinks and food. Sadly, it was a Monday, and they were out of deviled eggs and salmon crostinis. We enjoyed the Moscow Mule and the Old Goat cocktail, an old-fashioned on their happy hour menu. My hubby was in the mood for a Ruben but also a salad. The Caesar was the hit of the meal. Sadly, the Reuben was mostly bread. The grilled cheese and the crispy fries with ranch were delicious! We would come back if we were back in town.

I hadn't been here in years for no reason other than that I live on the north side of town and it's a bit of a hike to get there. My husband and I were meeting up with a few of our friends for dinner and they suggested Old Goat. Since I hadn't been in ages and my husband only ever had take-out we decided to make the drive. I'm so glad they suggested it!! They have a just ok beer list, but had plenty of wines, cocktails, and mocktails, so they really have something for everyone. One of our friends got a key lime pie martini that looked really pretty; she said it was really sweet, but good. I really liked the wine that I ordered. Food-wise we all had a really hard time picking what we wanted since everything on the menu sounded so good! I kept it pretty basic with a half Caesar salad and a jalapeno hot honey pizza (which also had pepperonis - yay!). My husband had the jambalaya, which looked amazing, and he really enjoyed! I tried one of the shrimps and really liked the flavors. I would probably order this the next time. One of our friends also had the jambalaya and loved it as well. The ambience was pretty good. Its already a little noisy due to so many hard surfaces and high ceiling, and they also had someone there performing live music. The music itself was nice, but our table was right in front of the musician, so it was pretty hard to carry on a conversation. It was also dinnertime on a Sunday, and pretty busy. The waiting area in the back is pretty awkward with how many people were there. Its great that there are benches along one wall, but with people standing as well as sitting on the benches it was a really tight squeeze for how many people kept walking back and forth through the corridor. Overall I really enjoyed the dinner. I would hopefully go again when during off-peak hours so it wouldn't be as busy. The food and drink will definitely bring me back though!

Andrea provided a great service to us, our family of 5 was constantly pleased with her care. I enjoyed the Mac Daddy, Three of us had Lake Superior white fish, delicious and high value. Ambiance included a wonderful piano bass duo. They played downstairs. The crowd for Sunday Branch was very typical. Ended up waiting about 25 minutes for a table

I finally got around to trying again. I still really like the atmosphere. This time I got their deviled eggs ($10) as an appetizer. I enjoyed them. Not doing anything special though, nothing popped as wow. I ordered the Smokeshow Burger ($21). This is a 1/2 lb. Char-grilled fatty burger, smoked gouda cheese, applewood and onion jam, dill pickles, haystack onions, and calabrian chili a on a grilled challah roll. The burger was very good. It was cooked to the correct desired doneness. Again it just wasn't anything special. I've had so many better burgers, but it is definitely better than average. I upgraded to fries and these were definitely the best thing of the night. Probably the best fries I've had in a restaurant in years. The service was excellent. Efficient and Jovial. Overall I'm upgrading to a 4 star review. Would I return? If someone else wanted to go, yes. Probably not if the choice is mine where to go. They are really busy and the people I was with really liked their meals, so maybe it's just my taste buds that don't love it

Very nice restaurant. Live jazz trio on the night we had dinner there. Pleasant atmosphere, great service and awesome food!! Best hand squeezed lemonade by far!!

Came back recently for another date night with the wife. Atmosphere is cozy and intimate with a fun live music on Fridays. The reason we come back to this place is the extensive and tasty menu and you can get a deal of $100 worth of gift cards for $75 at Costco- hard to pass up. This trip I got the Reuben and it was pretty darn tasty though my only critique was the sauce was pretty sparse on it. My wife got the salmon and it was really delicious, great flavor. Of course we started with the bubbly brown too. Service was great and we'll definitely be back again.

Really delicious and healthy meal while in Grand Rapids! The salmon plate with cous cous was so good - highly recommend. They swapped the broccoli for Brussels sprouts which was great.

Uncles Cesar, tomato saffron soup, the Rhett butler, hand cut fries, Alger heights burger

Went for lunch since we've come on a Saturday night and didn't realize how busy it can get on the weekends towards close. Loved our food! The atmosphere is so cute and well decorated. Boyfriend loved the burger and I love my pick 4!! Can't wait to try more things in the future!

I always like coming in to see Meg and Bailey. I enjoy the food and mulled wine in the fall. This particular visit I ordered the Alger Burger the jam is made from some heavenly goodness.

Talk about an eccentric menu! You can find just about anything to eat on this menu. Parking available in the back of the building and an abundance of seating. There was even a live piano player which made the experience so much better. For a starter they have HH. 3-6P M-F which is awesome. Our server recommended that we try the happy hour pretzel option and it was plenty for 2. For a main, I tried the Charley Apple recommended from our server. Perfect. Crisp apple and perfectly cooked chicken. Creme brûlée flavor rotates and was amazing!

We came in at 11am on a snowy Saturday morning and were sat right away. Their restaurant was very well staffed and our server was very kind. We both got the half salad and sandwich for $16, which seemed to be the best deal on the menu. Food was excellent and tasted very fresh. Reuben sandwich was particularly good. Ambiance is a little upscale farmhouse vibe with some modern twists. Lots of fun light fixtures and wallpaper to brighten up the space. Overall great experience and will come back soon!

First time in Michigan and my partners parents wanted to bring us to a local favorite of theirs. We had a pretty large group of six people and they still got us in on a busy Friday night. I ordered the Arnold Palmer; made with fresh lemonade and for dinner I opted for the pepperoni pizza. it was a nice size pizza, that was covered in pepperonis, and overall had a great taste. My partner ordered the Gumbo, I tried a little after he was ranting and raving about it and I have to agree that's an amazing gumbo. Full of flavor, fresh seafood an a little spice. The interior is fun and eclectic! Staff was super friendly and apologized for the pizza taking a little longer than usual. But I didn't mind at all as I was enjoying the live Jazz band they featured. I will for sure be back when in town!

What an experience! Came in for linner on Saturday, 5/31 around 3pm and sat at the bar. The bartender was the perfect mix of attentive, friendly and gave us space. The restaurant is quirky and unique - even has a grand piano! The Old Goat came HIGHLY recommended and we were thrilled to finally give it a day in court. We started with a couple cocktails, the Garden Grove for me and the Kenny Rogers for him. Both were delicious! Our starter was the Bubbly Brown and it was to die for. The stone oven bread with flaky salt was incredible. The dip was the best artichoke dip I've ever had - in my opinion - he didn't agree, then again, he doesn't love goat cheese like I do. For our entrees I had the Mac Daddy and thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken tenders were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The sauce was creamy and the tomatoes cut the richness of the sauce in best way. He had the jalapeño shrimp pasta and it was delicious! The lemony jalapeñoy sauce was perfect with the al dente linguine and tender shrimp. The whole dish worked well together and nothing seemed to overpower anything else. We had a lovely time and we are sad and happy that the Old Goat isn't closer or we would be regulars, for sure.

The chef makes unique and creative dishes, definitely elevated. Two disappointments for me - 1) I wish they had sourdough without flax seeds. I had to get gluten-free bread instead since I can't do seeds. Meh. 2) I was looking forward to a cappuccino, but not offered here. Other than those two minor things, I loved it!!

Honestly it was an incredible location for a space and had such a great vibe inside. My best friend is a regular at the restaurant and we're hoping to see them more in smaller capacities like when we saw them at the Fulton St. Market. Overall, the food was really good. I like the concept of fast-casual dining without the need to have a server. I think it allows things to feel more casual and allowed for me to be more willing to eat there (obviously in other circumstances lol). Different from the last time I was here but we were told to find a seat upon entering and that when we were ready, we could order our food at the counter. I looked over their menu and found lots of good breakfast taco options, the breakfast burrito I have heard is great, but what really caught my attention was the biscuits and gravy. I was feeling quite ravenous this morning and got the full order for $11 and a side of bacon. They had a table close to the entrance with extra menus, clean cups, water jugs, hot sauces, silverware and napkins. Seemed like a help-yourself vibe which I grabbed everything we would need for our meal. Our food was brought to us rather quickly and my bf ordered the breakfast bowl with scrambled eggs and sausage. He told me it tasted so good and he loved that he could make his own tacos with his food. He let me try one of the hashbrown rounds and it was perfectly crispy! My biscuits and gravy were phenomenal. The biscuits were so fresh and the gravy had a really nice and comforting flavor to it. You could get chorizo and mushrooms in your gravy but i went with a traditional sausage for my protein. My bacon on the side came in a tiny dish but I ate all four pieces haha. Once we finished, there were some bus bins under the same table with the silverware, we placed all our dirty dishes there and cleaned up after ourselves before leaving. I honestly felt so content leaving there and can't wait to return. I really appreciate the ambiance in there with the beautiful plant life, the lights on the ceiling, and cool decor in general. The staff was also SO NICE! Wins everywhere. I also noticed people coming in for takeout which is good to know in case I don't feel like dining in some morning. Please check this place out sometime if you're in the mood for some really good breakfast that doesn't break your bank account.
