For lunch I had salmon and this dish has so much flavor. Lemonade and iced tea were prepared for us. Just when I thought we finished the day, we were surprised with cookie and vanilla ice cream. The cookie was warm, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Vanilla ice cream was hitting the spot. You can't fail this combination. The food really blew me away although I was there for work. Friendly and attentive staff. Love the decor and it has its charm!

The couple was able to personalize with photos and memorabilia set up on shelves in the breezeway inset area which was a sweet touch. The wedding ceremony took place outdoors on the Garden Patio. It was a gorgeous but warm, very sunny day and the seating on the right side could have perhaps used a sail shade of some sort as it was blindingly bright and quite warm on that side! It's a small thing as the ceremony was short, but thought I'd mention for anyone considering the space at a time of year when that's a factor. After the ceremony, we walked into the adjacent 1922 Lounge for the cocktail hour. This was a wonderful space with an eye-catching bar area, lots of seating and high tops, as well as plenty of room to mingle. We loved the signature cocktails and the passed hors d'oeuvres were absolutely delicious and plentiful! Onto the reception in the huge "Main Dining Room" with vaulted wood beam ceilings, chandeliers and warm hardwood flooring. Everything was configured beautifully, food was again delicious and the venue staff was excellent. I loved that you could retreat to the garden patio or other areas within the club when you needed a quiet moment! So from a guest's point of view, the University Club of Pasadena was the perfect venue for a wedding or any event for that matter. Great location, facility, food and staff!

However, for their price point, I think there are many modern hotels in this area, for example, the Intercontinental, that would be better value for your money.

This past Friday I attended the Dining in the Dark at the City Club and had so much fun. I was…read moresigned up via Renaissance club and so I was seated with members from the club and we ended up fast friends laughing joyfully as we ate blindly. First, there is parking at the building but it's easy to miss because of traffic but it's a quick enterance and then down a steep tight hill into the lot. Valet is there but I found a self parking spot. For the event our parking was validated which made the parking only $8 which was a relief since parking around the area can be quite pricey! Inside the room all the tables are intimately set up according to how many people were on the reservation, and the room is surrounded by windows where you can see the amazing LA view. I love that according to what you're going to eat you get a color coded candle. Meat is red candle, Fish is blue, and vegetarian is green. When it is time to go dark they announce and you blind fold yourself with a blindfold that you get to keep at the end! There are 3 courses and I will not ruin it by telling you what I ate so you can be surprised. After each course the chef comes in and he tells you what the food was. I honestly expected that because my sight was gone that I would be hyper aware but somehow I guessed wrong about some of the ingredients! It was such a cool experience and the dessert was so good I wanted more. Dining in the dark was such a wonderful experience. If you need date ideas this would be a really great date idea! After the dinner was over, I explored the 51sr floor a little before heading to the elevator and it's really beautiful up there. There are some rooms with a TV and table and chairs and all the windows. In the waiting area there are even binoculars to use. Such a cool experience I would definitely do it again!

They had a wedding event on that day but they had enough staff to serve our table. I can't stop blushing…read more The Artful Bachelorette is an unique concept that specializes in bachelorette parties, birthday parties, etc. We celebrated my good friend's birthday this past weekend with a quick getaway to West Hollywood. Part of the trip included an activation by the Artful Bachelorette, a scandalizing crash course on drawing men in the nude. Their lovely team brings all the supplies, a fully nude model (hey, Oscar!) and provides guidance on drawing the male physique. There's two easy-to-follow rules: no touching and no photos. Once we got over the giggling, the afternoon went so smoothly. Over a two-hour period, we drank mimosas, ate cake, and got to know Oscar on a very personal level. Fortunately for us (and our champagne buzz) no artistic talent is necessary to enjoy this activity! The experience is very immersive with simple step by step instructions. Their team created a number of exercises and fun surprises to keep the group laughing and engaged. This would be a great alternative to anyone who finds strippers to be a bit too raunchy. The experience was classy, fun, and laughable. Despite not knowing many of the girls prior to our trip, we all left feeling bonded by alcohol and nudity.

Learning to embrace your creative inner artist, strip away the familiar and miss no detail of any kind or length... A few simple ground rules are gone over before the fun starts, but not before that first sip of vino or bubbly. Always respect the models, cameras/phones away during your session, don't touch unless touched... they are very polite and personable human beings and hopefully you are as well... they are free for photo ops (clothed at that point) after/at the end of your event... so channel your self control you'll be taking it all in for well over an hour. The group I was with through yelp was an amazing bunch and co-ed which was nice and refreshing for me to not be the only guy in the group though I felt just as welcome, encouraged and respected as any one else sketching, mingling and enjoying a Friday Night to the max. An amazing social icebreaker and bonding experience you should consider for you and a few.
