The Artful Bachelorette is an unique concept that specializes in bachelorette parties, birthday parties, etc. We celebrated my good friend's birthday this past weekend with a quick getaway to West Hollywood. Part of the trip included an activation by the Artful Bachelorette, a scandalizing crash course on drawing men in the nude. Their lovely team brings all the supplies, a fully nude model (hey, Oscar!) and provides guidance on drawing the male physique. There's two easy-to-follow rules: no touching and no photos. Once we got over the giggling, the afternoon went so smoothly. Over a two-hour period, we drank mimosas, ate cake, and got to know Oscar on a very personal level. Fortunately for us (and our champagne buzz) no artistic talent is necessary to enjoy this activity! The experience is very immersive with simple step by step instructions. Learning to embrace your creative inner artist, strip away the familiar and miss no detail of any kind or length... A few simple ground rules are gone over before the fun starts, but not before that first sip of vino or bubbly. Always respect the models, cameras/phones away during your session, don't touch unless touched... they are very polite and personable human beings and hopefully you are as well... they are free for photo ops (clothed at that point) after/at the end of your event... so channel your self control you'll be taking it all in for well over an hour. The group I was with through yelp was an amazing bunch and co-ed which was nice and refreshing for me to not be the only guy in the group though I felt just as welcome, encouraged and respected as any one else sketching, mingling and enjoying a Friday Night to the max. A good friend organized my bachelorette party and was forced to find a way to embarrass me while skimming around my "no strippers" request. No good bachelorette goes with out some level of embarrassment, right? I was surprised to see large drawing boards, charcoal pencils, and Violet and Franco at our San Diego Airbnb Saturday afternoon. Initially I had no idea what was going on, but quickly figured it out once instructed to remove Franko's loosely tied sarong in front of all my girls. I have never been so red in my life. I am no artist but Violet instructed us through multiple drawing warm up activities while Franco confidently posed for us. The entire experience was such a blast, I can't remember the last time I giggled that much. Violet and Franco were both so gracious and fun to work with. At the end I got to keep a book of my friends final drawings for a hilarious keepsake. It was one of my favorite and most memorable bachelorette activities. My friend knocked it out of the park, the drawing class was way more fun and less obtrusive than strippers. The sketches were fun to do and I actually learned a lot. All the ladies had a great time and it was a nice break from the wild late night out. I couldn't have asked for a better bachelorette party experience than the one I had with The Artful Bachelorette! When the responsibility of planning a bachelorette party for my best friend fell into my lap, I literally typed "non cliche bachelorette party ideas" into Google, and I was immediately intrigued by The Artful Bachelorette. Fleur and her entire team were very friendly and accommodating for my party's needs. We requested to have a model and a teacher drive down to our location in San Diego. I had a bit of a hiccup in location plans, so I was very grateful that the crew was able to arrive at our new location as scheduled. Victoria was our art instructor, a very lovely Australian woman who really got us into drawing with ease. I loved how she got us to engage with drawing the model in a way that encouraged us to appreciate all of the model without feeling like we were up and coming pornographers. She was very efficient as well setting up the drawing supplies, and I loved how she interacted with us as we shared our artwork with each other. She provided a good mix of different drawing activities that allowed us to focus on different... parts... of our drawing abilities. Jared was our model, a very handsome and fit otter-type guy with a suave personality and... plenty to admire. I don't say this often about other men because of how proud I am of my own assets, but Jared's tush must have auditioned for Wicked the way it was defying gravity. He was immediately comfortable with our group and was not shy at all to pose. Our party played a few games to go along with the mood--such as Truth or Truth, and Taboo Words--and I loved that both Jared and Victoria were encouragingly into the games. Laughs were definitely shared among us all without ever treading into anything inappropriate. One of our activities that I really enjoyed was taking turns completing a detailed drawing of the model. We each had one minute to draw before passing the boards around. Inevitably, everybody with a particular fixation ended up being the artist extraordinaire of, let's say, Jared's chest hair, his calves, his jawline. It was the most entertaining assembly line we've ever been a part of. At the end, Victoria had us write a special message to the bride so that the drawings could all be compiled into a "book" for the bride. Afterwards, all of our guests, especially the bride, were very happy and expressed how much they enjoyed the event. The resounding consensus was that we all felt like we got to participate in something totally fun, totally unique, and just the right amount of risque to still make it feel like a special bachelorette's event. Some girls even said they've always wanted to do a nude drawing class, and they got to cross this one off their bucket lists! Most of all, I loved the team, and it really speaks volumes to have an instructor and model who can read our group correctly and work with us. Not to mention, the playlist was awesome! This post is long overdue. I was planning my best friends bachelorette and I came across The Artful Bachelorette and immediately fell in love with the concept. Customer Service: If I could give them 6 stars I would. Every single person I called and emailed was so sweet and professional. They were beyond accommodating and helped me with any questions I had. We ended up hosting the event at the W in Austin and we were originally supposed to have a suite but they kind of messed up- long story short I called TAB and they were so pleasant and reassured me that everything was going to be fine and that they will make sure to work with us. And they did! Overall- I am so happy I chose to go with them. The Talent: He was so sweet and funny and totally put up with our shenanigans. He was very professional. Loved the whole experience so much. Overall- I would absolutely recommend choosing TAB if you are planning a Bach party for your girls. It was so creative and we honestly couldn't stop laughing. We had drinks and painted the day away. It's hilarious to see how your friends react. Leaves for some food memories. One last note - Sequoia was our teacher and she was just amazing. BEST IDEA for a bachelorette party --EVER!!!! My girlfriend wanted a bachelorette party but not the usual thing. The Artful Bachelorette throws nude life drawing parties--- where the subject matter is a hot, naked hunk! It's a bit risqué and naughty, but not full-on raunchy. How it went down: The instructor, model and server showed up half an hour early to set up at a friend's house. We chose to have the party at our friend's house, so we could keep the party going after the class was over (the class itself is 2 hours long). It was a slightly cheaper option, since we covered our own food and booze. But, you can opt for one of their venues, where they provide champagne and snacks. The class itself was really fun. None of us have mad drawing skills, so I was a bit nervous--but the instructor put us at ease with a series of entertaining exercises. We all really improved and made some impressive drawings.
