If you want some standard soft serve, come stand in a line of post-baseball game kids and their parents for some neighborhood-revered super mediocre soft serve ice cream. I have been a customer of Cindy's since they opened the business. We visited on Saturday night and the girl seemed to have difficulty with our order, repeating things that we hadn't asked for. I realize these are high school kids and probably their first job but this is how they learn. We got a large Strawberry shake ($4.65) and a Kiddie root beer with marshmallow and light juice (1.41 +.80) Our order came to $8.28. I questioned the older gentleman who looked at the tape and said yes, $8.28. By this time the line was heading down the driveway and I did not want to cause a scene so I let it go. When I was handed my snowball it was drowning in juice, no where near light juice. However, if a snowball and milkshake are $8.00 we won't be going back. read more

Cindy's is one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood! It's a very simple, tiny snowball and soft serve ice cream shack in Elkridge on Route 1 in the parking lot of a motel. Doesn't sound very exciting, huh? But it's SO good! Their soft serve is my favorite in HoCo. My husband is obsessed with their flurries. There is no indoor area....just the little shack and some benches and picnic tables around back, which is nice because we love to bring our dog here. If you live nearby, you should check it out. The new fancy self serve frozen yogurt places are fun, but I kind of love the old fashioned and simple feel of a place like this. read more

Delish ice cream. Usually the husband and I get a twist of the soft serve in a cone (which is amazing), but we actually have been going with the flurry's lately. OH. MY. GOSH. (yes, we frequent there about 3x/month during summer if not more...oops). Their ice cream is bomb overall-creamy and smooth. Not overly sweet. Hubby gets the flurry with vanilla ice cream and butterfinger. I get flurry with twist ice cream, PB and oreos. Both are insanely good- cannot eat any other ice cream or go to any chains since I've found Cindy's. Always a line- but it goes by really, really quick. Quick to get orders out as well. I did work here for 3 years in High School. I cant say it is as good as it was in high school. (maybe I am just my cautious about what I eat now) The snow balls are good. Ice cream sometimes taste like ice cream. When I need a sweet fix its available a mile from my house. For years people raved about Cindys, depending on who makes it the products such as the flurries don't always come out the same as the order before. A good place to stop by for some treats! It's a bit more on the expenside side though, close to $4 for a medium vanilla cone with rainbow jimmies. They only have soft serve and flavored shaved ice...but you can mix in various toppings into the soft serve. The soft serve itself was pretty good. read more

I just lost out on $6.00. I ordered a large hot fudge sundae and the guy making the sundae mistakenly smashed the side of his hand into the sundae, getting fudge and ice cream all over his hand. I thought he'd tossed out the compromised product and started all over with a new one. But I didn't see him throw away, get a new cup and get ice cream from the machine. Instead, he went in an area where he was not visible and emerged with the sundae and placed whipped cream- a ton to hide the issue, after performing surgery on the product. I think the people who run/own the stand are wonderful people but this guy clearly made a very poor judgement call with his choice to continue to serve a product with all of the germs from his hand smeared inside of the sundae. I took the sundae to avoid a scene and just threw it in the trash right at the stand. It was insulting as a customer to be served this and this will make it difficult to return. I'm sure this will not make a difference in posting because overall, they are nice people and have good ice cream and snowballs, but I just cannot bring myself to go through this again. Surprised there weren't more reviews. The portions are almost always great for the price. No hard ice cream, but if you're looking for a soft serve/snoball stand where you can eat outside at picnic tables and feel like you live in a real community, it's hard to beat. Hands down the best soft serve I have ever had. It's simple vanilla-chocolate-twist, but it's rich and creamy, and there are a huge selection of toppings if you find the basic cone won't do. It's also worth mentioning that we showed up right as the place was closing, which is always a gamble. Many a time throughout my life have I been turned away as the machines are cleaned a few minutes early. However, we were lucky to catch the owner, who said "I would never turn someone away as long as I was in the shop". Fortune! The soft serve is great and normally the service is also. Do not go in the afternoon when there is a middle aged female working. She is extremely rude, mean and unhelpful. I pulled up in front by myself and ordered four items. Paid and tipped. When she was finished she yelled 'pick up your food'. I asked for a carrying tray and lids and was told there are no trays. If I wanted lids I should have said so before ordering. Now they will not fit and to just put them on the floor of my car and hope they do not fall. I I had not already paid I would have just walked away. The high school kids working there have a much better work ethic. Surprising. I really wanted to like this place. I was hoping to find a soft serve shop similar to the ones back home. Instead, I was greeted with rudeness and haste from the older lady working the counter. And my parting gift was a handful of peanuts tossed at my feet while I tried to enjoy my soft serve. BTW, they were the same stale nuts that topped my sundae. And I know there were at least 3 other directions she could have tossed those nuts, because this place is a little cute shoebox. I was so disgusted that I threw my ice cream away and decided to confront her after the kids left the vicinity. She tells me "I didn't throw them at you, I threw them in your direction". I was across the street at Sushi Q when I saw a long line forming across the street at Cindy's. I'm not from the area and so I don't have that needed nostalgia to bump this up to 5 stars. This place brought back memories I didn't even have here. It has the quintessential 90's summer vibe of your ice cream truck (minus the music) except it's in a immovable shack. There were people sitting out in the parking lot enjoying their treats and a little boys baseball team hanging out. Nostalgia galore. Now for the actual desserts. There are so much toppings to choose from and various sizes. They serve both soft serve ice cream and slushee. The prices are good and they get your order out very quick. There is nothing fancy about this place. No gimmicks. If you are looking for a cheap soft serve ice cream or slushee, come here. However, it's not something you would drive out of your way for or sit at home and crave. But if you are in the area, I recommend it and I recommend you just plopping a seat on the curb and enjoying the summer vibes. read more
