I had the pleasure of treating my niece and nephew to Cindy's ice cream last Saturday evening in Elkridge and I had their ice cream for the first time. It was delicious. I must say the servings are huge. The medium was more like a large. It was awesome and it happens that the line was not long. From my understanding the line is normally very long. On Tuesday evening while out with my sister and niece, I treated them and myself with ice cream cones. I had a large chocolate cone and it was humongous and delish. It is a good thing I was visiting and headed back home Tuesday because I would have visited at least twice more. When I visit Elkridge again I will visit Cindy's. Thumbs up all the way. read more

Delicious. Very friendly staff. I got a soft serve cone and my fiancé got a waffle hot fudge sundae with Oreo. Very impressive. It reminded me of a place I worked at as a teenager - Tastee Freez. Soft serve was creamy and wonderful. While they did the standard vanilla and chocolate, they had tons of flavor options, plus snow cones, shakes and flurries. Hidden within a motel parking lot, Cindy's was a surprise find. Tried it today; we got medium (16oz) & large (20oz) snowballs, but I was rather tempted to try one of the ice cream options. Maybe next time! Our two choices today came to about $4.60-ish (?). You place your order in the window on the left, & there is a display next to it with the sizes labeled for demonstration/example. However, I witnessed someone receiving their large soft-serve cone, & it looked to be twice the size of the demo one. They also have shakes & banana splits. Menu looks like a good amount of options for a small stand, & once I caught a look inside at the dispensing lines, I had to share the pic :-). Quite possibly the best soft serve I have ever had. The husband and youngest agree! My aunt is forever talking this place up and we happened to be visiting this weekend so we had to stop by! The employees were great! I asked if they often do practice cones and then dump the soft serve back in the mixer (perfectly acceptable)- but because I'm celiac, the cross-contamination from that cone would hurt me. Not only did they understand my question, but they also admitted that they do. I was just going to pass on the ice cream and let my family enjoy, but they figured out a safe way to serve me a dish of the vanilla! I'm not sure what they did- they may have cleaned a machine- but I SO SO SO appreciate this! All the kids working were super polite and went out of their way for me. I love this place! My son and I love ice cream, check out new treats when out. First time there - stood at a window, tall young lady server ignored me. A group of 4 went to other window and ordered ahead of me, tall young lady server didn't even say I was ahead. When done, she came over and asked "if I need help?" No apology, saying there are signs on window to order. Saw none. Still ordered for my son, ice-cream good but service was horrible. Discrimination? I don't know, I'm neither black nor white. Will not return - a million other places out there. Owners: monitor your staff, could be killing business and you'll never know why. read more

This is a cute little soft serve joint next to an old motel. On a Sunday night there was a fairly long line of teenagers, families, adults of all sorts that moved along quickly. Parking is located in the lot to the right of the store - so don't try to pull in to the motel or area in front of the store. It's a bit hectic in there, with some big trucks and people in a real rush to get out, so be careful. The staff was really friendly and seemed unfazed by what looked like an endless onslaught of customers. The ice cream itself was pretty cheap, but honestly just okay. It was thicker than most other soft serve I've ever had and had a buttery taste to it. Not unpleasant, and with a sugar cone it was pretty good. We also got a root beer float - props for giving the whole can - but honestly, we had a few sips, then threw it out. The ice cream tasted terrible mixed with the root beer. We found an empty, but very sticky, picnic bench behind the store. That was actually kind of pleasant to sit at and watch the kids running around on their sugar highs. At some point I'll have to try their snowballs, since those seemed more popular. read more

Awesome ice cream spot off of rt 1. This place can be pricey but the product is really good! Snowballs, ice cream, milk shakes and all the toppings you can think of. This is a roadside soft serve ice cream place. I have been to the place three times just because my friends were dragging me there. That was the last time I will ever go there. The soft serve, shakes, and snowballs were all commonplace. Nothing special about their menu. There is almost always a big line not because they have awesome, mind blowing products, it's because they are the only ice cream/ snowball place in the vicinity. The reason why the place is getting only one star is that every single time I went, the service gets worse. They are generally not smiling when you get to the window to order. The cashiers were not helpful either. The last time I was there it was an older gentleman (someone told me it was the owner or the dad of the owner). We were in line for 9 mins (I timed it). When it was our turn to order, the guy told us "Wait" (putting his hand up to signal stop). He left and came back after 5 mins and asked "What do you want". He did not apologize for leaving nor was he polite taking our order. If you also observe, the people working with the soft serve, shakes, snowballs, etc don't have gloves and they just touch the food. The place has bad service and not hygienic. I see that there has been reviews about the rudeness towards costumers in the past. Sadly, I do not think there will be a change in service as long as they have monopoly of soft serve in the area. read more

I'm very picky when it comes to soft serve because I was raised on Soft Stuff in Ellicott City. Cindy's Soft Serve is an alluring shack off of Route 1 (summertime treats are better when offered out of a shack). I like to keep it pretty classic when it comes to soft serve, so I got a small vanilla cone with rainbow jimmies. They have a ton of different toppings for I think .65 ea. The serving size was perfect and the ice cream was good. The spouse noted that it came with a drip-guard sleeve on the cone to protect your hands from run-off, so if you are eternally a messy, sticky 6 year old when eating your ice cream, be embarrassed no longer. Even though it was crowded they moved through the line efficiently and there was plenty of seating at picnic tables behind the shack. New summer time tradition and good stand in for Soft Stuff while it's out of commission. read more

Fair prices, tons of variety, and friendly service. After eating at Sushi Q across the street, I stopped by this place for some dessert. My girlfriend got a vanilla sundae with snickers and caramel and I got a black cherry snowball with marshmallow in the middle. Toppings wise, they give you a good bang for your buck. My snowball was delicious and there was plenty of marshmallow to go around. Soft serve was good too, but much thicker than I am used to (RIP Soft Stuff). read more

I am becoming addicted to coming here. This is honestly the best ice cream around! The variety of types of ice creams, toppings and flavors will make you want more each time! Luckily their hours do not close until 10pm. The one thing I do like is the prices being a tad bit higher. Delicious soft serve ice cream! The hubby and I were on our way home from the airport when I had a craving for soft serve. Yelp led us here and it was the best thing that happened. Super creamy soft serve, rich hot fudge and real whipped cream - what more could you want? Prices are decent too. The small sundae ($4.50) was enough for us both to share. We have been getting icecream here for over 8 years but today we had the worst experience by using coupons they sent out by mail(one free kiddie cone no purchase necessary and $1 off $5 purchase). The old guy (guess it's the owner) said to others ( in front of my face) "shoot me if anybody gives me another coupon."
