I had a BOGO offer for my birthday that is due to expire this week so we stopped by after a show in Baltimore on our way home. We arrived around 9:25 on a Wednesday night and we were the only ones there, which was nice. I decided to stray from my normal Chocolate Devotion and be adventurous today. I went with the Germanchökolätekäke, which I loved as it isn't as decadent as the Chocolate Devotion. While looking at the menu, I was surprised to see how much the prices have increased. Definitely don't plan to come often unless they have a promotional offer. The Germanchökolätekäke may be my new favorite go-to. I loved it! read more

As soon as we entered, all I saw was her beautiful smile as she waited for our order. Regrettably, I declined a receipt, d so I don't know her name. She was patient and accommodating. It became busier and she was the only person filling orders. The smile remained. In the back , two young people made the ice cream. They were focused on that task, for the most part. Perfect place to end our thanksgiving Dinner with some delicious ice cream. Since my niece and nephew were craving for good ice cream, it made absolute sense to try cold stone as it had been a very long time I had tried this place. We ordered medium portions of Oreo mint and apple pie ice cream sundaes. So delicious! Customer service was great! Plenty of parking at this location. They were taking all the Covid precautions. Cold Stone is Cold Stone. I don't really understand why people are upset with an individual franchise over pricing. It's common knowledge that this chain and pretty much all others charge an unnecessary amount for their product. We went yesterday and the girls behind the counter were sweet and worked quickly. The ice cream was delicious as expected but nothing out of the ordinary. We specifically come to this chain on occasion because we enjoy the unique flavor of certain flavors (cake batter and sweet cream.) I have zero complaints. Obviously yes, over priced. Today we had really quick service for 3 ice cream orders and really reasonably priced. The service was great. They have seating area but it get cramped with a larger crowd. Sometimes the service can be slow based on the staff working at the ice cream shop UPDATE: we went in today for some ice cream and received the worst customer service. Rather than being greeted and asked what we would like, the sever choose to finish her conversation with her coworker. After finishing her conversation, she turned to us and gave us the biggest attitude while asking what we would like. Once she finally took our order, she had another coworker help her fill the order. Please that we were the only customers in the store and we had the same exact order. Her coworker(who was nicer) was able to fill both our orders at the same time. The girl choose to stand there, continue to give attitude to us, but had no issues gossiping with her coworker. LITERALLY put off by this rude server and will most likely never come back. read more

The price is what keeps me away (very expensive) but, this is a great cone and I love the concept. I usually add: Oreo, banana & maraschino cherries. Which teen associate you get is a hit or Miss so hopefully you'll get one who takes pride in their job and isn't distracted by talking with their colleagues. I've had ones not know what maraschino cherries are and put cherry filling in the mix or use a very i ripe banana (rolls eyes). Aside from McDonald's, this is the only establishment where an adult is never on staff. Not sure why, but it's run by teens. Chatty teens. Given the price per unit, the can afford to pay a higher wage and higher an adult needing a decent part time gig. If that was to happen, I'm sure the ratings would be better. We waited in a long line for 20+ minutes only for a group of teenagers to walk in and "discreetly" call over a friend/employee to "hook them up with ice cream" for free bypassing the entire line of customers. Needless to say the employee accommodated them and off they went without paying. Kudos to the other employee, I believe was Alex. Very professional and kept the line moving while the other employee went off in the back to continuously text on her phone. He's the only reason I'm not giving this review a 1 star. Do you want to know how to get ripped off when you bring kids here? Buy them one scoop of Kid's ice cream in a sugar cone. I made the mistake of bringing my three kids here and two nephews this evening thinking it will be a quick run for dessert after dinner. We got in line and I looked up at the menu and saw that the "Like It" sizes were going for $5.64 assuming you add no additional toppings. That's their smallest possible size and comes with three full scoops of ice cream in a cup. I figured, they're young kids, they won't eat 3 full scoops of ice cream especially after a big dinner, so why not simply ask for a small sugar cone, and one scoop? No toppings, no additional extra sides, no drinks. Nothing else. We get to the check out counter and they charged $4.89 for the one scoop of ice cream AND an extra $0.79 for the small sugar cone!!! Tell me, how do you expect to stay in business with that kind of scam? Your ice cream isn't that good! Your staff of high school kids are NOT even friendly. I paid the price. But, you can guarantee I will NOT return. To the owners of this franchise: sell your assets now, liquidate the store, you will NOT stay in business very long. read more

Very busy with teenagers both in front of and behind the counters. The line was handled neatly despite a bunch of folks who simply could not make up their minds. There are a lot of choices here, but really, you won't die if you don't pick the right ones. Seriously, folks. Choose and go! Had a very poor experience at Coldstone tonight (10/29). It was 9:00, about an hour to closing. I was denied to be able to purchase anything other than ice cream, apparently the milkshakes would be too hard to make this late at night. I was also denied to pay in cash, which isn't much of an inconvenience, but i remember being able to before. All of the other workers were calm besides Maya, she was being especially disrespectful and was the one denying my service the most. Typically it tastes and looks like it is frozen, defrosted, then refrozen again but the problem really is with the employees. It's so unfortunate how they act. When you come in, they do not greet you and have you standing there for a while kind of confused if you can order or if it will be a moment. When you do order they are pretty rude. They all seem to really dislike their job for whatever reason. It seems like they really need help with customer service skills. I can't believe no one has reviewed this location yet, it's always packed! Perfect after dinner treat for the fam. Would give them 5 stars but the service from lazy teens can get a little iffy, hence the long lines. The key is to be patient and remember the ice cream is worth the wait. I can't eat this ice cream every day because it's so rich (and horrible for my thighs lol), also the prices aren't cheap. But IMO you get what you pay for - this ice cream is so good! You can opt for just a plain, no frills scoop or get super creative and mix-in your favorites. They don't play around here, they taking their "mixing" very serious! Choose from fruit, nuts, choco chips, candies, sprinkles, marshmallows, cake, brownies, etc. Or you can save yourself the confusion and pick from one of their signature creations like my fav, Coffee Lover's Only. Not only was it completely unprofessional, as someone who works in the service industry it is common knowledge that customers are to be served until time of close. Customer service there was piss poor. No one working there coupdve been over 19 years of age. One girl had two earplugs in and while assisting the other customers, she had the nerve to say "can you speak up" while she was the one with two Ear plugs in her ears. There was four people there working but with how slow they were taking to get to customers you would've thought there was 1 person working. It took me 35 minutes to get to the front of the line to get my order taken. There was 7 customers in front of me when i walked in. They were all running around like they didn't know their roles. My husband and I have come here several times assuming that the service would be nothing less than exceptional considering the location. Each visitation got worse and worse and this past Wednesday we decided that we would no longer be coming back to this location. My husband and I were the only two people standing in line and yet they still managed to prolong our wait time as they were more interested in chatting it up with their friends than taking care of the customer. One girl- who wasn't even on the clock- went behind the ice cream counter and hooked her friends up with free ice cream while my husband and I were left standing there waiting to have our orders taken. I'm all for having fun at work, but when it breaches professionalism that's when I have a huge problem. 1) The teens working there like to hook their friends up with free ice cream- last I checked that falls under the category of stealing company product, which is a fireable offense. 2) The teens are more interested in talking to each other than tending to the customer. 3) They do the bare minimum and catch an attitude if you expect them to actually work. 4) They are stuck up, snobby, and spoiled teens with absolutely no work ethic and feel like they shouldn't have to lift a finger but should still get paid for clocking in. I'm not sure if management has an obsession with only hiring teenagers, or maybe they're a big kid themselves but, THEY NEED TO BE TERMINATED. All that being said: Do not visit this location, it's nothing more than a teenage paradise- if this keeps up they won't be open for much longer anyways. read more

The first thing that hit me was that we bought two small single scoops in a cup with one item (whip cream) and strawberries. Total sticker shock $11.96. How is that possible????? A scoop of ice cream is $5.00? Hmmmm. I need to pay attention next time because I missed that sale. Staff were friendly enough, but the store is too pricey. Pretty unimpressed. We've been in before with decent service. When we walked in, it was empty besides the four women behind the counter. One greeted us quickly, but we needed a moment to figure out what our kids wanted. Once they selected it, three of the employees stood directly in front of us, talking to each other, looking at us but ignoring us. Once we finally began the order, it took a bit for them to ask if we wanted multiple items. They put my older child's ice cream into a larger cup when it was overflowing, which was appreciated. They offered a lid for my youngest, but it was dripping before they even handed it off to us. At checkout, the cashier had an AirPod in one ear, required us to repeat our order multiple times, and didn't even finish ringing us up before she was scrolling Instagram. We're pretty sure we were overcharged (since my child's ice cream was in a larger cup), but we couldn't tell, since she didn't even offer us a total or a receipt. The ice cream was decent, but not worth the attitude that we were interrupting their gossip and Instagram time. We'll find another place to take our business next time. read more

Does the staff get training? I've never experienced anything like this at a cold stone creamery. I have a favorite ice cream: germanchocolatekake. I know the spelling is wrong. I placed my order and the guy gave me a cup of dark chocolate colored ice cream. Plain. I asked him if he was sure this what I ordered. He said yes. I said doesn't it have coconut? He said he forgot the coconut and proceeded to sprinkle coconut on top. Then I asked about the caramel. He said he forgot that also. He drizzled the caramel on top. At this point I am thinking, what the heck? The ingredients should be mixed together. I asked him to start from scratch. He starts to make it again and I am watching to make sure he's putting in the ingredients. I see he doesn't put in pecans. So I asked about the pecans. He said we don't have any. So, he just wasn't going to say anything about that? So the first cup was essentially just a cup of dark chocolate ice cream. At this point, I thought I am not going to fuss about this anymore because he clearly has zero clue what he's doing. How in the world does the business hire and train staff that clearly have no idea what they are doing? The other 2 employees just stood there looking at him without any attempt to help him. Recently bought 2 $5 groupons redeemable for two "Love It" ice cream bowls each. I went to this Ellicott city location to order two bowls to celebrate my son's last day of school. The ice cream was delicious as always, although my sons bowl was made missing one of the ingredients. The thing that permanently soured me to this location, that is closest to my home, is the way the manager handled the groupon situation. When I approached the register to pay, I presented my coupon. I was initially told by the cashier that it needed to be printed! Why would a Groupon need to be printed in 2015‼ I asked for the manager. The manager then tells me that their location is franchised and does not accept Groupons. (This was a Coldstone groupon for the Baltimore area, which this location falls under) I explained to the manager that I only ordered these items because of the Groupon. The manager did not even offer condolences or any type of discount. So I spent more than $11 on the two bowls of ice cream in addition to the $10 in unusable Groupons. ($21 for 2 cups of ice cream) Since I have to find a location where I can actually use them, I DEFINITELY WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS LOCATION! read more
