Despite feeling very upscale, the restaurant is super welcoming to all, from families with kids, after-work crowds, folks on dates, and even well-dressed stockbrokers discussing their latest trades. The food was outstanding and had inspirations from Italian, Mexican and Japanese influences: 1. The kid's cheese pizza turned out really good - thin crust, Neapolitan style with slightly charred puffy crust from the wood oven. Our son ate most of it before the brick-chicken arrived! 2. The smaller dishes are meant to be shared - the Japanese Sweet Potatoes and Roasted Cauliflowers are good sides for a protein-rich entree. Wife ordered the lighter Baja Scallops and enjoyed them. 3. The star of the dinner was the Brick-Pressed half chicken. Crispy seared crust and super-moist meat underneath. Unlike many places they added a bit of spice from the chilis and even mixed in some beef tallow for additional richness. Our son enjoyed it too, and was not fazed by the slight heat from the chilis. I have been a long time customer of DHOC. We love our oysters! The highlight of the dinner was to have Adam from DHOC set up am oyster bar at the party. It was the focal point of the dinner and a tremendous hit with our guests. Adam served, cooked and shucked raw oysters. They were all fantastic! I cannot say enough about how fun it was to DHOC at this party. We will definitely have them back again this summer. If you are hosting a party, add oysters to menu! They are the difference between a simple party vs. a fun culinary experience for your family and friends. Our friends are still contacting us to rave about the oyster bar! I appreciated being able to sample the dressing before ordering as I would not want the taste of anchovies to be too strong. The grilled sourdough bread was a nice finish to the salad. We had also ordered a side of bread and the herb butter was delicious! Hubby had the combo half basket with shrimp, oysters, and halibut and it was tasty and just the right amount. I enjoyed the kolsch and hubby the amber. We enjoyed eating outside on a warm, sunny day.

Wish I'd asked what made it blue. We both ordered drinks as well. My daughter had the 5 Moons Chai and I had the Healer. Whoa...they are quite heavy handed with using ginger in their drinks. I enjoyed my drink but I think there was too much ginger for my daughter's taste. It was like the kind of ginger drink that I sometimes boil at home when one of us gets sick and we need something to soothe our sore throat. Recommend the Acai Bowl. This was at 12:30PM and there was a long line out the door and around the corner, taking almost 30 minutes. I had previously visited on a rainy winter weekday for lunch and there wasn't a line at all. What a difference the day and weather can make! While in line we could see the chefs cutting up ahi fresh right in front. The longer line gave me time to chat with the owner as he was trimming off the skin and other bits. I learned that tuna skin is much tougher than salmon skin so can't be eaten like salmon skin chips. He also said that the trimmed parts can be taken for free if anyone wants them. Apparently they make good crab bait! Medium w/ Rice, Traditional Limu Ahi, Hamachi, Mac Salad ($21.50) - I love the Hamachi poke mix. It's fresh, tender, and buttery fish tossed in a creamy and slightly spicy sauce, filled with little briny pearls and plenty of aromatics giving a super umami bite. The Limu Ahi is very fresh as well - I mean, it's sliced right in front, and there's so much turnover of the food that's it's pretty much guaranteed fresh. The tuna is fresh and tender, but there's noticeably more sinew compared to the hamachi. The Mac Salad is also really good. It's super creamy and the macaroni isn't overcooked so it still has some bite. The rice is unfortunately the weakest item in the bowl. It's a little too dry for my tastes and is only lightly tossed with rice vinegar, giving a tangy flavor. Overall all the poke is fresh, the flavors all meld together into a delightful balanced bite, and the sauces are not overwhelming. Ono Poke definitely serves some great poke! Went for an oddly timed meal on a Saturday around 4PM and they still had all their poke options. There are about 6-8 tables in the store, but quite a few folks take their meals to go. It's definitely not the cheapest meal option, but the poke is absolutely delicious and the fish is unbelievably fresh I tried the Shoyu Salmon, Spicy Tuna, and the Hamachi; all of them were incredible. The Hamachi is only available on weekends and the fish is so fatty it almost melts in your mouth with the creamy and tangy sauce. The Shoyu Salmon is incredibly succulent and just a classic knocked out of the park with a great balance of fresh, salty, and slightly sweet. I'm normally a tuna hater, but the texture is excellent with a nice bite and great spice level.

You might think it would be a Big slice of meat with tomato sauce on two slabs of white bread, but not at Stacey's. Here it's a pita sandwich with a very light, flavorful but not too spicy sauce packed with romaine lettuce and fresh tomatoes with purple onion. The overall flavor was Mediterranean, sort of like Corfu Street food. And the steak sandwich was pretty much the same thing, except with entirely different flavors, including both grilled flavor and a peppery, spicy sauce. Both sandwiches were delicious, custom-made as we waited about 10 minutes. These guys know to add unexpected and fresh flavors to an everyday sandwich. Even their chocolate chip cookie had some hard to identify but pleasant added sprinkle of flavor. The iced tea and lemonade were both house made. A great addition to San Juan Island dining.
