Came here for date night! We had a great time I only wish there was the option to have the tray seating here since I had to struggle holding on to my $12 popcorn and $10 soda, ha! I was able to pre-purchase the tickets and choose out seats online which I love to do ( I hate seat anxiety) and you can even pre-purchase your food to be picked up in a little cubby by the ticket checker. I almost wish I had done that since the line for the food was so long but you would have to stand in line for alcohol purchases anyway. They sell beer and wine here along with all the standard cinema foods. I don't know if I will be back here but it was a good experience. read more

Really disappointed in the lack of consideration by the staff regarding their outside food policy. I take the bus here and often make an evening of it because the ride is about an hour each way. I get dinner and will sometimes do some grocery shopping, handle whatever else I have in the area before relaxing for the movie then heading home. The other day I had Mod Pizza which is right around the corner in the same shopping center. After dinner it was movie time and I had about half a pizza left in a to go box. The staff refused to allow me to take my left overs in to the theater. I explained my situation and I even told them I was willing to purchase a snack or a drink because I didn't want to waste the pizza but was still refused. Because I had purchased my ticket at the kiosk I had no other option but to throw away my left overs which was going to be my work lunch for the next day, a whole meal. I feel like their had to some level of nuance and understand when it comes to policies like this and a digression of maybe a manager. Really glad I didn't get groceries that day. With a community so long it's unlikely I will take the bus simply to only go to the movies and nothing else.., so it's likely I will be seeing many less movies if at all in this theater. I will say the staff was nice. I understand policies, I understand how customer service can be, they don't get paid enough to argue with people and I wouldn't put them in that position after hearing me out and still making the decisions to refuse me entry. read more

9 bucks for a movie. Drink and popcorn another 9 bucks. Clean on the inside and nice chairs. Was a bit cold. Games mostly worked. Building generally is a bit run down and the mall is a bit dilapidated but totally worth going for a movie. read more

The theater is fine but as others have noted, DO NOT lock up your bike or leave valuables in your car. This is a very high crime area and the theater has not made the small investment in exterior security cameras. Employees admit that crime is rampant but so far nothing has been done. Ohhh My Gosh!!! Never will I go to this theater again!!! First, one small popcorn, one medium soda!!! Almost $30!!!! Then movie start time was 2:15, but 29 minutes later of upcoming attractions and commercials!!! Totally unacceptable wasted time!! Then the volume was SO Loud!!! It vibrated the sets an floor!! As a Chico only has really this one movie theater for new movies I frequent this location a lot. I would like to highlight that r he customer service is usually pretty great and the theater is always clean. They did stop these large soda refills. Not sure if that was supposed Covid policy or just a general one but that kind of disappoints. The XD room has very comfortable chairs and it's worth the upgrade. I would really like to see the D-Box screenings brought to the theater. The arcade inside I believe is not ran by Cinemark directly and could use some attention. read more

I will never visit this location again. The theater was hot and smelled terrible. It's ran down. The couple to my left wouldn't stop talking and also proceeded to throw food at each other. One of the poorer quality theaters I've been to. My boyfriend and I were extremely surprised at how dead the theater was on a Saturday night... There was no line for tickets and there was only like 10 other people in our movie with us. It was odd... I guess folks in Chico don't really go to the movies? Or maybe there wasn't anything good out? Or maybe it's because this theater is pretty crappy. We decided to watch Pacific Rim Uprising. Ticket prices were definitely cheaper than the Bay Area; only $10. However, you get what you pay for. The theater was really old and run down. The seats are extremely rickety and uncomfortable. I'm willing to pay $14 in the Bay Area for a better quality movie theater. My friends and I tried to play air hockey. We put a $1 worth of coins in to the machine and nothing happened. There was no out of order sign. We told a concessions employee who requested their manager come check out the machine... but they didn't refund our money. When one considers that this company makes their money as a result of using CAMERAS, you would think they could invest $20 to keep a camera on the bike rack that is 20 yards from their door. When locking my bike I felt confident that they must have CAMERAS watching the bike racks. You can smell the popcorn from there! PLEASE INSTAL CAMERAS TO PREVENT BIKE THEFT AT YOUR ESTABLISHMENT. Completely disappointed in this movie theater. I'm a mom with three children and was turned away for having a diaper bag. They insisted this was a safety hazard. Refused to look in the bag and refused to hold the bag until the movie was completed. Not cool! Ill be cancelling my monthly membership with them!!! Update: I'm changing this to three stars only because the manager, Mr. Dillon, was very kind and apologetic with my husband and tried to rectify this situation. I've been here a few times. The employees seem friendly, but I've come across a couple that obviously don't care about their job much. They have a decent selection of movies. The movie theater is clean enough. Movie ticket prices are reasonable. They have a good selection of snacks. The few times I've been there, I've never seen the snack bars in the halls of the theaters open. So, if your movie is in a theater far away from the main entrance expect to walk all the way back to the main snack shop. As of July 2019, there's no longer a ticket kiosk at this movie theatre. If you want to buy tickets you have to wait in line to purchase it from someone at the ticket window. If you purchased online tickets you have to wait in the same line to pick up your hard copy tickets. This makes for a very long line. Arrive at least 15 minutes before you normally would so that you don't miss the beginning of your movie. Otherwise, this is an unremarkable movie theatre that offers mainstream movies and delicious, yet still overpriced, popcorn. read more

Hmm. What can I say? It's the only movie theatre in town. The seats are comfortable but need to be upgraded to the new reclining chairs. I love that I can buy my tickets online and snack bar too. Best part is if you buy snack bar ahead of time it's already packed up and ready for you at the ticket taking podium. The bathrooms are always clean. I also love that I get to pick my seats ahead of time. We come over from another local town to watch movies here just because of this reason. The movies always have great sound and the stadiums are always clean. Staff are always friendly and helpful as well. A fun place to take the family, especially on a hot summer day. read more

In the middle of a movie this afternoon an elderly gentleman was walking up the stairs with popcorn and a slushy in hand. He missed a step and fell to the ground, hands full, hitting his head on the chair, popcorn and slushy went everywhere. I rushed over to help the man up knowing that he had attended by himself and walked him to the restroom where he could clean himself up and making sure he was ok. I then went a found a group of workers one of which had a blazer on and assume she was a manager. Let me tell you, she sprung into action as soon as I told her what happened. They came and cleaned up discreetly, checked on the man and brought him a new popcorn and slushy. I am super impressed with the care and concern they had for this situation. We paid extra for the XD experience. It was supposed to be luxury reclining chairs, and a floor to ceiling, wall to wall screen... Don't waste the extra money, there is no comfortable seating, the chairs sit straight up, definitely do not recline, and made my back hurt. Also the screen is just a normal screen lol it's not bigger, or better in any way! Also I don't know if they think it's still SUMMER outside, but it's 48° and not warm, but it was so cold inside the theater, that I had a hard time staying focused on the movie, because I was FREEZING!!! Honestly I was so disappointed that our theater and seats were not what we paid for, or what was advertised, that I'll never come back.. I will go to a theater that delivers! read more

Watch out! It's 107 out and their AC in some of the theaters is broke. They don't tell you until they are taking your ticket AFTER you pay for it. This message is to complaint about the way the staff handled a situation at the Chico cinemark theater . I came here with my nephews to watch small foot at 4:35 showing time . As I am watching the movie with them , I pulled my phone out to respond back to a text message to let my sister know that her kids are safe . As I was putting my phone back I get assaulted by a lady who hit me with her scarf from two rows behind me. I looked back because I was shocked to see her flipping me off using her middle finger and yelling that I put my phone out . I finished the texted as she got more upset and went to ask security to come in . I was approached by security to leave and speak to them, at the time I didn't feel safe to leave because my nephews were going to be left alone in the theater . After sometime I was getting very annoyed with what happened and came out to speak to the manager Mike Akins , who instead of listening to me, he started raising his voice at me in a very rude way then called the security to escort me out . It was upsetting and very rude how the staff managed the situation. There is no written policy anywhere that states I can't use my phone nor it allows a sick in the mind woman to hit me and flip me off . The security staff are ridiculous and I absolutely will never come to this place again . This was something I would never expect to happen specially that I don't disrespect others. We arrived 10 minutes prior to door opening. We bought our tickets for ourselves & grandchildren a total of $65 dollars. Being disabled with a can and new total hip replacement and only one Kidney I ask to use the restroom. I was refused. I tried to explain that it was urgent. The ticket person said no they don't open for 10 minutes. I then walked across the street to the goodwill store and used their facilities. According to my family as soon as I left to find a restroom the theater open their doors. This was blunt discrimination to a senior with a handicap. This is the only movie theater in Chico and the surrounding area. Buying tickets is pretty convenient and courteous is there with the employees. The reason for the 3 stars is the cleanliness. It rates pretty important with me. Every time I have been here there is spilled pop corn on the ground everywhere and wrappers. The bathrooms are always dirty with toilets containing elements and never flushed and the bathrooms are graffitied. I never see anyone sweeping or cleaning. Suggestion: add another employee for cleaning the floor and that would make a big improvement. read more

This past Thursday, I brought 5 kids to the 12:30 showing of Aquaman. Went to get them popcorn, and you know how if you get a large popcorn you get one free refill? I usually get the refill right away. That way two kids could share one, the other two kids could share the other. It's never been a problem in the past. The kids working the popcorn counter said - oh sorry. We ran out of refill bags, so we can't give the free refill on large popcorns today. Um - excuse me? You're a national chain of movie theaters. You give one free refill with a large. Your container issue isn't my problem! So I said - can't you just give us another large container?? They said no. Because they will run out of those too. I will say, movies are becoming more and more autonomously unoriginal in recent years. A fourth "Transformers" or a Sixth "Saw" movie. You get it,eh? Yet sometimes, just sometimes... a film (i.e. Guardians of The Galaxy" and "Deliver us from Evil") will re-ignite your passion and mood into going back to the big silver or in this case 3D screen. This is why I have recommended the Cinemark in Chico showcasing. Also, They have all day $5.50 passes on Tuesdays, hint hint :) Remember too, that the revenues from the movie showings are directly to the filmmakers and co, not to the actual theater establishment. I had a horrible experience with the manager, Mr.Ryan is terrible with the customers and does not value there happiness. I will never waste my money on the theaters in Chico Ca after this experience. Enjoy having a ten complex Theatre locally, and I take advantage of it. Parking, tickets, popcorn, etc, - all easy and assessible. Nothing here outrageously amazing or disappointing, but for one thing- 3/4 of the seats squeak every time one shifts, annoying to me and worse- those around me. My ex took our 3 year old daughter to go see Coco this afternoon and her face was 3/4 painted with a glittery skull, not even an opaque skull, they made it past the ticker seller, concessions people and the person that tears your ticket before being told by the manager that they would have to wash her face paint off because it wasn't allowed. Really? A 3 year old wearing skull makeup to a movie celebrating Dia De Los Muertos, HER heritage. Needless to say they were luckily refunded all of their money, but I'm am extremely disappointed. The quality is low if you are used to bigger newer city theaters. I would highly recommend seeing your movie in the XD showing room as this really steps it up with better seats, screen, and sound. If you're on a date the armrests go up in the top row so you can get close. read more

Hate hate hate the online reserve ticket requirement. The staff will lose jobs, patrons will pay more. We went to an early show which is supposed to discounted by going early. But with the online reserve tickets we were charged $1.75 per ticket for the online service. I don't for one minute think that the staff will be receiving a raise in pay for this fee in fact staffing will be reduced. read more
