Nope. It was a crowded day, I totally get that. We were there about 2 hours and when we arrived there were no skate trainer assists available to rent. I put my name on a wait list. 20 min later, I noticed many people had returned their skate assists. There were probably 6 of them behind the desk. I probably asked 5x or more if it was our turn on the wait list, every time I was told no. At one point the girl said "you're welcome to walk around out there with your own child" I have a hurt shoulder and a prosthetic hip, otherwise I would've :( Long story short, my son sat on the bench next to the skate rentals, waiting for his turn on the wait list, fighting back tears. In the 45+ min we waited, no one from the wait list ahead of us collected a single skate trainer. And we were repeatedly told we couldn't use one. I definitely understand waiting our turn, but when no one ahead is coming to collect them..... The guy at the skate rental place when we first arrived was super nice tho! But the girls I wasn't impressed with. read more

Wanted to do something after dinner and stopped at the mini golf course. We got there a bit late but the gent running the show was super nice, gave us the heads up we'd probably only finish half. DO NOT BOOK A PARTY HERE. We got a table right by air hockey with noise and kids literally crawling on our benches. A flying puck HIT my elderly mom. And the "Tiki room" which isn't even a room. No walls and right by the restroom. A disgrace for $300! And the manager just argued. Didn't care. MANGER told us we could just take our kids and leave! Then specifically told our server not to allow any discounts. They held my card hostage and charged it the full amount. Visited my boyfriend's family in Oroville and wanted to have some fun before we headed back to Sac and we drove a good 30min here and we had a great time. Staff was super nice and friendly. We got our putty and tokens to get our own golf ball. We went throught the course and I gotta say I should play more golf. I got lucky hitting once and getting it in the hole. One course was a water course which was super fun and interesting. Afterward we finish you are able to put the ball into a machine to see if your ball is a lucky winner. My boyfriend was lucky we got some ice cream and played arcade inside. Recommend for anyone! read more

We arrived at 2:30 and they opened right on time. The fellow was friendly and explained their system. The miniature golf course is set up to be interesting, shaded, and with lots of water features. Is this place gloriously vintage? Absolutely. Is it always a little sticky? Definitely. Somehow both of those things add to the appeal. Cal-skate is a cool, vintage skating rink straight out of 1975. The music selection is great. Anything from Fleetwood Mac to Lil Peep to Florida Georgia line, they play it all. My kids love the arcade games, which are all brand new despite the age of the building. The claw games actually pay out, which is rare. They have skee ball & air hockey too which is a favorite among my teen niece's. There's plenty of open seating all over the rink, and the consessions aren't ridiculously priced which is another perk. My oldest had her birthday here a little while ago and she had a great time. The party host took care of everything and my daughter felt so special getting her name called over the intercom for her birthday treat. This is truly one of the few places I can take the whole family and we all have a great time, my kids and I look forward to coming back! read more

I was battered and assaulted in the lobby by a group of teens and no one was there to help me. I had to call 911. Scott (manager) only released the video of the lobby that doesn't identify the teen that hurt me and will not participate in sharing the inside footage. This business is reckless. I was skating with my kids for Saturday family skate night when this occurred. My 8year old child was knocked over by a teen and I told her to slow down and be careful. Her and her friends started yelling at me and my kids so l had to leave and bring them home. I came back to file an injury report. I filled it out in the lobby as I was told to. The manager didn't make the large group of teenagers leave evidentially. So while I filled out the report and the family skate night session ended I was alone in the lobby when they all came out and started verbally assaulting me, and eventually throwing a large cup of water at me. I did nothing to provoke them, they were completely out of control and the skating rink did nothing to help. This place needs a guard, more employees or they need to stop letting teens get dropped off with no parental supervision. I wish Scott would have at least let me get the footage so I could press charges against the man that threw the cup at me. read more

This review is solely for the mini golf course. Ok for starters.. OYE. This course is in need of some serious love. To be honest, I wasn't really expecting much..but they really need to focus on keeping the course maintained. There were rips in the carpet that interfered with the ball in play and also seem dangerous to leave unattended. Only one of the fountains was turned on and the pools were full of leaves. The picture of the course from four years ago shows me that it was pretty decent at one point. Being the only mini golf course in Chico, at least that I'm aware of, they could definitely revamp this place again and I'm sure more people would come out to play. read more

I just got home with a bunch of disappointed kids. I take some responsibility for getting the hours wrong, but listen to their phone message and tell me it's not ridiculously difficult to find simple hours of operation. I got to the "Tues, Wed, Thurs block" and heard they opened at 3:30, but apparently all the days are different and I didn't listen long enough. So, why have them as a block? That's misleading and unnecessary. And the website is no better. It's the kind of website you'd expect in the mid to late 90s. Wednesday hours also not easy to find. It's on page 2 of 2, as if you need 2 pages to provide a weekly schedule of operation. Feeling a bit frustrated, we started to leave but then reconsidered and went over to mini-golf. Now, the sign on the door CLEARLY indicated they opened 1 hour prior to our arrival, but the doors were locked and the lights were off. As we got in our car, the gentleman who turned us away from skating (owner or manager?) entered the side door so I thought maybe they're opening late and I sent my daughter to check. She knocked loudly on the door twice and he ignored her, being engaged with whatever he was there for (not opening for business). Ultimately, It's not a complete loss to be turned away. It was going to be $7.50 per kid for up to 2 hours! (without rental) That would have been $30 for us! I can see $3 to $5, but $7.50 for this caliber establishment? read more

HORRIBLE experience with communication for my grandkids summer skating. Scott is a very rude man. He needs to figure out his planning when it comes to the safety of the children and learn how to talk to people. All the other employees were respectful and pleasant. This place is honestly a dump. There is no other word to describe it. The skating rink is the best part but even that is kind-of a dump. Mini golf course totally sucks. And the batting cages are gross, old, and need to be better maintained. One thing this place has going for it: the people who work here. The employees are really nice. On our last trip to the mini golf course, I left here thinking "I wish someone would buy this place and fix it up nicely for the community. It's got so much potential". This is the only skating rink, mini golf, and batting cage in the Chico area. I don't believe Oroville has batting cages. This place would make a killing if they just cleaned it up and did A LOT of maintenance. I even have a funny quote from my 10 year old step-daughter: "do some kids actually have their birthday parties here? How sad". read more

Fun old school place, which as a 45 year old, I really enjoy. My introverted 10 year old daughter, not so much. The loud music and disco lights really overwhelm her. The music wasn't too loud, and the security guard was super nice to us even when we left early and offered us a refund, which of course I did not take because we need to support our businesses right now. I would definitely go back here and zoom around the rink grooving to some hip hop and old school tunes, but if you have an autistic child and one that is easily overwhelmed by loud environments then you should stick to roller skating outdoors. If they ever hosted an autism night where the environment is more quiet and peaceful then I would for sure take her again. read more

Above and beyond service!! They are really great with the kids and super patient with even the brattiest kids. Really above and beyond service. Our kid didn't really get to skate cuz he was struggling with it but Bryce went out there and put some skates on to help him and get him going. Unfortunately our son was too stubborn to continue trying so they gave us a free pass to encourage us to try again and get out there and skate! Really impressed with the service of all the staff. They also took time to get his skates on correctly and sized properly. Lots of smiles and the games keep the kids entertained and tired out. Great inexpensive outing for the family. Plus if you get the skate mate they give you a free lesson so it's cheaper to just do that for the next time. read more

Impossible to get any info about this place. You call in and the entire thing is automated. It doesn't even give you an option to switch to a staff member. The Putters website is outdated and the times are wrong. I wasted half an hour trying to get the updated hours over the phone the day after I went at nine to find it closes at 8:30 (online it advertised as open till 10:30). I still went though, the course is kinda boring, but good enough to get me to come back for a yearly visit. read more

A roll of duct tape and a bucket of glue would go a long way. I took my wife and kids after a week of being away for business and was disappointed with the condition of the facilities. This place is in severe need of a makeover! Whilst fun... by the time you're done playing you feel a little sad as it is so under kept. The water stinks and is this weird green foamy mess. Also almost all of the outside hanging lighting doesn't work. A post 8 months ago on yelp said that the excuse of it being in this condition was because it was January - here we are in August 8 months later and the place is still a mess. It is the definition of a "hole in the wall" but hey, there are 18! We were visiting Chico and saw they had miniature golf, as it turns out, it's one of our favorites. Challenging yet so much fun. We will definitely be coming back every time we visit. Try to keep your ball out of the water, it's easy to get out.... hehee. Come see for yourself. You won't be disappointed. read more

Never been to the batting cages here so I figured if give it a shot. I've played baseball/ softball since i was a kid so i know the game pretty well. Worst batting experience I've had at any cages. Complete waste of money. Half the time the machine threw two balls at the same time... I had to stand passed the nets because every single pitch was 10 feet short... complete joke... no one around to make adjustments on the machine. Ran out of balls on the last round... I'm not sure about the other facilities at this location but I highly recommend not wasting your money. read more

I'm so disappointed with the service of this place. I had ordered a Pretzel combo in which I was told that it would be a 5 minute wait. So, I told the girl that I was going to put the drinks on my table and be right back. I was back within 2 minutes and while other people were ordering the same thing I did, they got their food before me. This happened a few times. So, I went up and talked to the girl who took my order. Her responses was "it's not ready". I informed her that the two groups of people that she served after me got their food before me. She apologized and then gave me my food but it was missing the churro. I told her that it was missing an item. Another 5 minutes. Mind you, I had already waited nearly 20 minutes. So, I decided to talk to management and get my money back but because I already grabbed the drink, they decided to give me money back for the food but not the drink which ended up being $4?!! The combo was $8.75 so you're telling me that the drink costed about half of the combo? They never tried to rectify the situation nor did they care to cater to me. So, one star for horrible customer service and an even worse manager. Maybe next time, you'll do the right thing by your customer. read more

Nothing like driving an hour to take your children skating; only to find out the rink is closed for a private party! I had checked the website in the morning to see what the hours were and there was NOTHING on the calendar that would indicate the rink was booked. Really bad customer service when the teenage girl at the desk (who by the way was too busy stuffing food in her face to acknowledge us as we stood there) just shrugs her shoulders at you and says "oh well" after you have expressed your disgust at their failure to update the website calendar. Don't take your kids. I Will never take my kids again. Today was very busy, because kids were off for Veterans Day. The rink was very crowded. My daughter got cut off by a child with a skatemate. She fell and hit her head on the floor of the rink. I was able to get to her, but there was not one employee or floor guard anywhere to ask for help. Thankfully a gentleman that use at work at a skating rink in Roseville helped us out. My daughter was seeing stars, was in a lot of pain and needed ice. The manager Chris slowly walked up to us with an accident form for me to fill out. He asked my daughter a few questions about what day it was etc. My mom got the ice not an employee. I asked Chris about a floor guard being out on the floor? He said he would get one immediately and that they did not have enough staff. About an hour later I asked him again why a floor guard was not out there? 15 minutes later the DJ got skates on and started skating. I found the owner Scott and asked him why it took so long to get an employee out on the floor? I asked "isn't it a liability?" His response was "actually it isn't a liability, we are not responsible." He was rude and errogant. Not once did he ask how my daughter was nor say he was sorry for not having a floor guard out there. I will never take my kids to Cal Skate. Scott obiously does not care about the safety of the children skating at his facility. read more

The mini golf course was somewhat predictable but never unfair. They do feature a hole where your ball goes in the stream and "comes out" right on the green. Very clever!
