Great service, food, beer, and ambience! It was a great place to enjoy my first time to Chico!

Best venue in town, not a bad seat in the house, great beer, friendly staff. Unfortunately they also attract the WORST, rudest, self centered audiences. They talk over the bands and the venue does nothing to quiet them. We always end up feeling bad for the bands, especially the opening acts. Sierra Nevada should do something to shut them up so the rest of us can enjoy the music we purchase tickets to enjoy. read more

I haven't been to the Big Room since the other guy retired. His shows were getting stale anyway. I Shannon and the Clams last night with Trox and the Terribles. I thought the Big Room was dead until last night. Great music and crowd. The dining menu was outstanding. I have heard negative response about the new Big Room manager and the music. It couldn't have been further from what I have read. I will see more shows. The new manager deserves alot of credit for bringing this show to Chico. Don't believe what you read about the Big Room. My only complaint is the sound tech. Very unbalanced. Maybe he needs to go back to school. Great crowd. A mixture of young and older. Keep up the good work. Chico needs shows like this. read more

Under normal circumstances I avoid Chico like a parasitic drug-infested Mexican border town save for maybe summer when an appreciable chunk of the fraternal bros & hos retreat to mommy & daddy's for repose from their ethanol-induced intellectual disabilities and HPV-tainted general worthlessness. Destination town this ain't. Surprised I very much was, you might imagine, when my disdain toward all that is the C-word was rendered null and void by virtue of a longtime pal's entry to wedded bliss and I ventured into the Sierra Nevada big room for the most seamless reception dinner I've ever attended. What ambivalent expectations I had for Sierra Nevada were trumped within minutes. there is much more class in the top floor of this brewery than its party-hardy local reputation may suggest! The room is huge, with a theater-like ambience and impressively dedicated staff. I can't attest to prices should Yelpers reading this decide to book the big room for a forthcoming event, but if the price reflects the quality of experience, my guess is it's not cheap. read more

Have been attending Sierra Nevada events for years and enjoyed them all, until last night. The band was great, the venue is awesome. There is literally not a bad seat in the place. The buffet however that I purchased along with my ticket was atrocious. Flavorless chicken, over cooked vegetables, hard flavorless rice. It literally tasted like cheap crappy banquet food. I was incredibly disappointed because all of my past experiences with food at Sierra Nevada have been excellent. It felt like a slap in the face to be served obvious crap food. There is no way anyone overseeing this event could call the food good or even acceptable. It wasn't. I saw other people with to go boxes of food they had ordered from the taproom. The Big Room at Sierra Nevada - a plate of food - Music Venues Near Me - Chico, California

Went to a beer release party 12/11/17. Paid $15 to get in the door only to find I got nothing else for the fee. Food was costly, new release beer was $4.50 a glass and was a disappointment. I think that they are brewing more for higher alcohol content than balanced flavors. But the main rub was that there was no place to sit as they oversold the event. I did not pay to stand around like I was at some cheesy bar. I have a great respect for Sierra Nevada being in our community, but at this point I feel that we are being treated irresponsibly. This is the community that helped make Sierra Nevada a household name. Now we are being short changed. I made my complaint to the manager and got my money refunded other than the online fee. However I still felt ripped off. read more

Went to hear Matt Schofield. The sound engineer has no clue about balance. The only thing that we heard was the over amplified bass guitar and the foot bass drum. If they are going to have a music venue, then they ought to have someone balancing the sound that has some sense of proportion. We had to leave after 45 minutes because now I could not hear Matt due to the ringing in my ears. I think that this is an ongoing problem as there are free foam ear plugs at various locations in the hall. Sad waste of time and money. Beware!!! read more

I've been to an uncountable amount of great shows at The Big Room since the early 2000's. Consistently, world class, below the radar acts show up here and are treated to an appreciative Chico audience. There is not a bad seat in the house and in particular, I appreciate how supportive the audiences are of quieter acoustic shows. Often, brewery venues are about selling beer. At The Big Room, it's about the music. The venue at The Big Room is the gem of Northern California and we are fortunate to have it. read more

If you're here for a show, Sierra Nevada brewerys' big room is the best place in the north state to see a show. And if you want to enjoy food while being at the show, the buffet is definitely the way to go, but they are rarely doing the buffet anymore. They have a new way of running things, where you can order from a menu and have one of 8-10 items brought you. The problem is the items sucks. I ordered wings tonight, they were NOT cooked all the way through. I ordered the pastrami slider, the bread was so hard I couldn't eat it. The pastrami was dry, and not very tasty at all. My partner ordered the kettle nachos which came with balsamic vinegar and blue cheese? Who made up this menu? Is anybody taste testing these items? I love Sierra Nevada brewery, but the food at the shows has been horrible with the new shake up at the venue. Looking at my eventful app, I've been bought tickets to 278 shows at Sierra Nevada brewery, so I support you all, please look at the food items. read more

Well, I went to see Justin Townes Earle last night and he sure as hell looked like someone's kid alright but not necessarily Steve Earle's......he hit the stage very tall with cap, glasses, long legs and cowboy boots. Bob said sound check around there was usually about 2 but JTE arrived about 7, in the nick of time, after driving with his wife on some snowy roads out of Mendocino. 'You know you can't really trust Google driving maps anyway esp. in the snow. I mean I never drive in shit like that (snow). Back home we get thin layers of ice a couple inches thick which makes it impossible to drive on, but we just stay home when that happens'. He later sang 'Driving to Memphis in the Rain'. He was young Texas smug but he seemed to have a good heart because he must have in order to write so many songs of appreciation about his mom. He sang I've got 'My Mama's Eyes'. He warned the audience not to request any songs 'because you'll end up looking like a jerk'. He said 'I've been to many shows where the artist sang many of his well known songs. The worst was Bob Dylan and the best was Bruce Springsteen. Besides, I've recorded about 80 songs and I'm pretty sick and tired of singing most of 'em'. He later sang some early favorites including 'If You Ain't Glad I'm Leaving, Maybe You Ought To'. He was all soul-o on stage and brought a single large guitar which he plugged in. He said someone told him that 'he ended songs kinda weird' and he did, sometimes rather abruptly. But each song began or ended with a little chuckle and some banter even when his voice dropped off with a little under the breath ending. He referenced his rocky upbringing several times and reminded us his middle name was Townes. He said that Mr. Van Zant was a great songwriter but not a happy man. 'When you die holding a bottle of vodka and the other hand on your heart, that's not happy'. To prove that the Circle is Unbroken he told us he got out of jail the day of Townes Van Zant's funeral. The mix of all this really made me feel like I 'hung out' with this guy for awhile and so I give him one thumb up (because nobody really puts both thumbs up in the air). read more

This is an awesome venue with great shows! The only thing that bothers me about coming here is the amount of people that stand on the dance floor, we go there specifically to dance and people are always standing there to be closer. read more

Have been to many concerts at The Big Room & love that dinner is available. Last night however, was such a disappointment on several levels. First, the dinner -- pulled pork -- we don't like or eat pork & in talking w other patrons, many mentioned that pork has been served quite often lately (several said 3 of the last 4 events they'd been to) -- change it up please! Then, corn on the cob AND polenta (basically corn meal) -- that's kinda ridiculous. So we went to the main restaurant & ordered salads to go. Near the end of eating my salad, I noticed a spider on the plate!! I squished it w a napkin & showed it to our server --"hmm, well maybe it just dropped out of the ceiling vent." SERIOUSLY?!?!?! Either you have spiders in your vents & need some pest control or it came from the kitchen in my salad. In either event, it's a problem!! There was no offer to replace the salad or even the slightest apology for this. He does not reflect the high standards of Sierra Nevada. If I am ever seated at his table again I will request a seat change or leave read more
