Back to good? We always enjoyed visiting Imagine Cinemas as an independent theatre. But this aging location at Promenade Mall has also disappointed us on 2 past visits with movie showings that paused midway. First time was caused by a fire alarm. Second time the show stopped twice once midway and once at the very end due to fuse resets. Yes, you do get the same comfy reclinable sofa seats, and a smaller comparative audience in the theatre. They do have reasonable prices at this time, including Tuesday night $5 tickets with $5 large popcorn specials, as well as $8 everyday matinee tickets and $8.99 bucket popcorn. We generally look forward to a show for the whole family but hope the facilities improve for our next movie night with a smooth showing if we come back here. Update: recent shows that we've caught here in the past year have gone without a hitch. Only minor complaint is the screen which without glare had a dark spot on the screen that didn't project quite as bright. Skip it or hit it? We'll be back assuming the problems that plagued here don't recur. read more

Imagine Cinemas here has the most comfortable recliner seats that allow you to recline all the way back and have your legs propped up. A big plus is that on Tuesdays you can get tickets for as little as $5 including tax. Luxury on a budget. While the theatre isn't as big, I feel it is certainly much more comfortable and a better experience than IMAX seats from a larger chain like Cineplex. The staff has been consistently friendly. Once I left my phone in the theatre during the last screening and the mall was locked, and I couldn't come in to get my phone. We gave them a call. Seats are AMAZING! Saw Downton Abbey. No crowds- good prices for seniors. Very hard to find correct entrance though.

Come for the comfy seats! They recline as much or as little as you choose at the push of a button. Because of the large seats and small theatres, it's best to order tickets online ahead of time or come early to avoid sold out shows. The regular price is cheaper than their competitors...a bonus! One of the best values in town. While we should have come in a Tuesday for a lower price point. For $11.00 a ticket the two of us got to enjoy an empty theatre on a Wednesday afternoon. Purchasing your ticket from the concession stand, you are drawn to purchase some surprisingly good quality popcorn with pleasant, old timey fashioned service with a smile and a sincere thank you. You can't help but be nostalgic for the last hold outs from the onslaught of Cineplex and the vanquishing of the smaller, intimate theatre. This location has, as you can see from other reviews and picture, gone through some remodelling of the seating area, which adds to the comfort and enjoyment of the experience. Tip to management: Judging by the lack of volume in a Wednesday afternoon, consider reintroducing matinee pricing to get folks in seats. I'm in love with this place. Best seats ever compared to VIP cineplex. You can easily fall asleep with these bad boys. Not only that, tickets are cheap. $11 tax in with reserve seatings. If you go on Tuesdays it's even cheaper. The screens aren't that big but their overall perks outweigh it. They also do not have reward points but hopefully they will in the near future. I don't go to movies often but this one stood out comparing to the big chains (I'm looking at you, Cineplex and Silver City). I like supporting smaller companies so this chain fits the bill. Online seat reservation was very easy. We bought the tickets during a meal and selected to pick up the tickets on site. Ticket pick up machine was faster than Cineplex. Staff was very courteous. Of course we have to talk about their large, comfortable reclining chairs. I couldn't believe it when a ticket only costs $11 for these seats. Smaller rooms also mean less likely to have disruptive or inconsiderate people. Seats and the washroom are clean and well maintained. Will definitely go back next time I go to movies read more

I came here the other night and we had a really nice time. The theatre is set up like one of Cineplex's VIP Theatres but it's a lot cheaper and the tickets are only $11.00. This theatre does differ from Cineplex in the way that the slope of the seats is not as steep but I think the view should be good from most seats. We didn't sit in every seat, so don't take my word for it. We went on a Sunday night so the theatre wasn't too busy. I have friends who tried going on the weekend and they weren't able to get tickets because it gets really busy during peak times. If you're planning to go on the weekend I would advise you to get there early. Allover, this is a good theatre and I would go again. read more

This is my favourite movie theater! You have luxury leather reclining seats and unlike other theaters you don't need to worry about some annoying selfish person kicking the back of your seat throughout the entire movie! You have all the space you need AND more! Also you have the best view of the screen at ANY seat. Chairs are legend, screen quality performance is low, watched avatar, image was washed out and pale. Seemed like it wasn't bright enough. Also, the screen had a visible square stitching look along the surface which distracts you from the movie. Im not sure if it was a hardware malfunction but the quality was really bad. What a hidden gem. Back to the old school Theater. The Theater has be revived by adding these crazy chairs and putting a fresh finish on the place. It's like going to the new VIP Theater but at almost half the cost and no chair service. The service is good and in most cases the seats are reserved so no need to line up. Highly recommended and enjoyable for a different movie experience. I know it's not 3d or some other enhanced features but for 90% of the movies coming out you don't need that feature. Over the years their priced increased but it is still cheaper than other theaters (aka Silver City)... I usually go to Rainbow Cinema when it's a movie that I don't want to watch in IMAX or other movies that have really fancy effects. Completely redone theatre... well for the most part. The admissions and concessions stand is the same as it was when it was called Rainbow, but the actual theatres are very nice. They have reclinable leather seats and all of the prices listed are tax inclusive, so there's no additional price-ups. You can also order the tickets online which is a nice touch. My only complaint is that the sizes of the popcorn have been drastically lowered. A small size popcorn is the same as the kid size as Cineplex, and they charge about $6 for that. Then again, a smarter cinema goer would just have something to eat at the mall before they step in... Anyways, great place. Hope they keep it in good shape. read more

This theatre looks like its seen better days. The decor is that of how theatres looks in the 1980s. Not stadium seating & small theatres. The only good thing about that, its much easier for the mobility challenged like my dad & mom-in-law to get around because there are no stairs. Just a gently sloping floor. The seats were okay, I sat there for a two hour movie & my butt didn't fall asleep. LOL. Though I do think for the amount of viewing rooms in this theatre they need bigger washrooms. After going back to Cineplex this past weekend, I decided to change my rating and give Imagine Cinemas 5 stars. This place spoiled me! Huge reclining seats, ample leg room, and free seat reservations so no need to show up early to stand in line. This is especially useful on opening weekends. I don't know how I used to do it, but seats at Cineplex are so small and uncomfortable. There's virtually no leg room compared to Imagine. I'm not a big person either, I'm only 5'1. I've never moved around so much during a movie trying to get comfortable. I highly suggest you come here and try them out. Yes, the size of the theatre is smaller but it's so worth it! Best movie seats in GTA. The lazy boys are so comfy you do not want to leave when the movie is over. Love that you can get reserved seating for $8 on Tuesdays. Huge, comfy, reclining seats with tons of room to walk through the rows. No wonder they sold out three shoes on a Wednesday in January with fewer seats and each of them assigned! Had never been here before. This small chain owns the Carlton and College downtown as well. Went to see Lion. Very small theatre, only about 50 seats. The best thing about it was the really comfortable fully reclining chairs with foot rests, making it an enjoyable viewing. Theater was clean and not too much obnoxious butyric-popcorn odour. The one drawback is that the screen was small and the screen itself could have been better - anti-reflective lines on it were visible from the front row I was sitting in during the film. Sound was reasonable. Did not buy anything from the concession so I can't rate it. Cheaper than Cineplex. read more

This is a luxury theater experience for a very cheap price. I don't know how they do it. Tickets are just $11 and yet you sit in these what must be thousand dollar reclining leather chairs. A fresh new look on a theater that was almost about to flatline. I went to see Doctor Strange and was pleased to see that this theater was bought and finally being taken care of. The tickets and food items are well priced but it would be nice if they had a bigger selection of items to buy. I'm not sure what they are planning on doing so I'm going to hold off on judging but the washrooms need attention. They are worn out and don't have a nice odor. The lobby could also be brightened up a bit. Other then that the theater seats are amazing and the staff is great! read more
