My experience with Ciocca Subaru of Flemington has been very disappointing, particularly in how the dealership handled legitimate concerns I previously raised about its service department. The dealership recently contacted me about purchasing a new vehicle. I explained that I was not interested because of problems I had experienced with the service department and because previous emails I had sent to the dealership about those concerns had gone unanswered. I was then asked to provide proof that I had contacted the dealership more than a year ago. I provided the requested email documentation. After several exchanges, I was encouraged to return to the dealership, but I was never given a clear answer as to whether my original concerns had actually been investigated or addressed. Mr. Castor ultimately advised me that he was closing the matter because the events had occurred too long ago for him to do anything about them. I accepted that response and told him I was fine with the matter being closed. I then updated my Google review to accurately document my experience. Shortly afterward, Mr. Castor sent me an email stating that Ciocca Subaru of Flemington would no longer accept my business and that I was prohibited from having my vehicle serviced at the dealership. I find that response difficult to understand. I had not asked the dealership for anything further and had accepted its decision to close the matter. I simply shared my experience in a Google review. I have no problem taking my business elsewhere. In fact, I had already decided to do so, for the most part prior to Mr. Castor reaching out. Good honest service. An anomaly among car dealers. I started taking my cars to Flemington a few years back and it's been night and day compared to experiences I've had other dealers. I've taken my car to the Subaru service department four times, and they have never pushed an unnecessary service. They are really quick, and often finish service in less than an hour. The technicians do just as good of a job on alignments as the factory does in Japan. My Impreza drove like it was brand new after being aligned. It is a pleasure to work with Matt Olivio. When I had a nail in my tire, he made sure to schedule me for service for the same day the tire arrived at the dealership. Also, another service advisor, Kat, was courteous and stopped what she was doing to greet me when I walked in. I look forward to taking my car back to this dealership for service again. Service manager doesn't actually send any paperwork to Subaru to indicate that the car was ever serviced here. Came here for a few routine services- never again. Found this out by taking the car to an honest dealer instead who explained that Subaru is supposed to be notified to keep records up to date. The honest dealer was Rafferty Subaru in PA by the way. My first and last service visit at Ciocca Subaru of Flemington was on Nov. 14, 2024. My experience with them was so bad that I now question whether the Subaru brand is reliable and trustworthy if this place is permitted to operate as it does. They added costly "extra services" to my invoice, without my prior approval. After I left the garage, my Service Advisor and her Service Manager were unresponsive to my initial telephone messages and text messages. I had to persist to get their responses and they were not at all helpful. Finally, a "Customer Relations Manager for Ciocca Automotive" told me that my original paperwork and approval was moved to an off-site storage facility and was not available. Subaru broadly claims that their technicians are factory trained and certified. Ciocca Subaru did not even warn me that they employ "apprentices" -- I learned this only after I left their facility. Whoever worked on my Subaru Legacy could not even figure out why a yellow warning light for low tire pressure would appear even though I had the correct pressures in my tires. This suggests that he did not even know how to use (or perhaps did not even have) Subaru's diagnostic tools and technology. This is substandard and unacceptable service. The most concerning aspect was the lack of communication regarding the expiration of the oil change promotion, a detail only revealed upon settling the bill. This lack of upfront communication about potential charges and the expiration of promotional services is disappointing. As a prior military helicopter mechanic, I am well aware of the costs and processes involved in vehicle maintenance. The reason for choosing the dealership service was the promised cost-saving measure, which was ultimately not honored. Given these circumstances, my experience at Ciocca Subaru of Flemington NJ fell short of the expected transparency and customer service standards. For a service that could have been completed at a fraction of the cost elsewhere, I was left with unnecessary charges and a sense of betrayal by a lack of upfront communication. I had a good experience with Ciocca Subaru of Ewing after it took over Scott Harvey Subaru, so my wife made an appointment for a checkup with a loaner car at Ciocca Subaru of Flemington. As she pulled into the dealership (not close to us but the way to her lab), she received a text message telling her the promised loaner was not available. She had a choice of waiting 90 minutes for a loaner car to become available, or to wait 90 minutes for reduced service to be completed. read more
