I've had so much past dentistry and his numbing was by Far the best I've ever had! He even chose a different anesthetic type that was more appropriate for my past medical issues.!! The filling material matched my tooth so well, my husband couldn't even see the filling material! Came to comment that CCD is a great office with friendly staff. I have no idea what constitutes top-notch, modern equipment, but I'm fairly certain this practice has it just based on my non-professional observations. The weird thing about Circle C Dental is, however, that not once in the handful of years that I've been a patient here has the dentist, either Dr. Pham or the new doctor who took over, Dr. Mulgrew, done the oral cancer check that I'd always automatically received at the previous practices I had been a patient of. You know, the one where the dentist feels around your neck and jaw line, holds your tongue with gauze and looks all around it and in your mouth? This has been our only family dentist since 2017. My tech for a teeth cleaning and exam today was Ashley. Her attention to detail, careful analysis during the exam and feedback while she was conducting it are notable. After the cleaning, Dr MulGrew stopped in for a look at my mouth and to provide suggestions regarding dry mouth and use of the tooth guard ( both of which I will work on) ! The front office is efficient and friendly. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. And that is consistent with the positive, friendly vibe here. Extremely disappointed. The receptionist was more than brusque when I made my first visit appointment but I went anyway because of several good reviews and the proximity to my home. I suggested I have my xrays from my prior dentist sent (just done in January this year) and she insisted Dr. Pham would need new ones. When I arrived for my appointment, the receptionist was absolutely dismissive and rude. She refused my insurance card and did not have anything pleasant to say. She acted like I was an imposition on her time. No one else was even in the office. Heather the hygienist was very friendly and listened to my concerns and history. However she also insisted on a full set of X-rays....which i have now discovered my insurance will not pay for due to the short time since they were taken. She also measured for gum disease, which seems to be a common thread here. Both she and Doctor Pham then recommended a deep cleaning ASAP. The receptionist, still dismissive and obviously disgusted with having to take time to speak with me, gave me the estimates. Then she pushed me to make an immediate appointment...I declined. I called my previous dentists and both of them stated a deep cleaning is not necessary or recommended given the state of my teeth and guns and consistent dental care. I will be seeing a new dentist for my next cleaning. Dr. Pham and Heather are nice enough, but this office is a NO. read more

I had an appointment to get a tooth pulled. Circle C Dental called repeatedly a few days before to change the appointment time to an earlier time. I had agreed, however on the day of the appointment, just as I was leaving they called to say that the doctor would be late, and now it would be most likely at the old time that my tooth would be pulled. by the time my appointment came at 4 PM I had already been fasting since 8 AM that day. Unfortunately the doctor then told me that he could not proceed because approval from my doctor had not been obtained! This was after so much preparation and fasting for a whole day and even though they knew that getting medical approval was their responsibility. read more

I am infuriated by the complete lack of communication and stress from the unexpected bill from a CHECK UP after visiting this dentist. My husband and I had our first check-up at Circle C Dental as new patients and the only reason I am writing this review is for new patients to be aware that this is a non-contract dentist. We were never told be anyone at the practice that our bi-annual check up would not be covered by the insurance provider and now we have a huge, un-expected bill to pay. My advice to the practice is to communicate this to all new patients so they are not surprised when they have to pay hundreds of dollars after a check-up. read more

I thought that Circle C dental would be great because it was close to home and seemed like a nice place. After I went for my appointment the bill was OUTRAGEOUS. I have excellent insurance and it was still extremely expensive for the cleaning and minor work to be done. Not only that, it seems like they are trying to sell you on additional procedures and extra cleanings that aren't necessary. As a few other reviewers have mentioned, this dental office seems to have a propensity to over-diagnose and recommend costly procedures. I visited Circle C after not having seen a dentist for about a year. We had moved in the past year and things had been kind of hectic, so I neglected to find a new dentist in a timely manner. The front desk staff we very nice, and the office has a great atmosphere and all the comforts you could want. Personally, I found it irritating to have to watch E! on a ceiling flatscreen during my cleaning, but both the hygienist and Dr. Pham were very pleasant and personable. I mentioned that it had been a year since my last cleaning, and I suspected a cavity in one of my teeth. After full-mouth x-rays, cleaning, and an exam, I was pronounced cavity-free. However, he visit started to go downhill when the hygienist and Dr. Pham grandiosely pointed out significant tissue and bone loss and diagnosed me with periodontitis. Now, aside from a few cavities in college (damn you, energy drinks), and missing my last biannual appointment, I've never skipped out on the dentist and I've never gotten feedback that suggested gingivitis much less periodontitis. I was recommended an extensive root-scraping procedure that would set me back close to $2000, and directed to the billing desk for full cost explanation and payment plans. At this point, I was absolutely not going to take Circle C at their word. I sat through the payment plan spiel, declined making an appointment just yet, and called up another top-rated dentist on Yelp (Jim Tyree -- the office I'd actually considered first, but was further from my house) for a second opinion. A few words about my second opinion appointment: They had to take all new x-rays since the ones Circle C took weren't usable, they took one look at my teeth and the expensive treatment plan I was given and scoffed at the diagnosis, and they did offered me a free cleaning to FINISH cleaning all the areas in my mouth that Circle C had missed. AND they had an camera that discovered I did indeed have the cavity I suspected. So, if your top dental concerns are getting to watch TV in a plush chair during your cleaning, and you don't mind that those comforts are possibly financed by unnecessary procedures, then Circle C might be the place for you. If you visit Dr. Pham's office, be cautious of over-diagnosis! They may recommend costly procedures that aren't necessary, which is what happened to me. Dr. Pham diagnosed me with gingivitis, and the treatment plan would have costed me ~$1,000 (this is WITH insurance). I was skeptical, so I got a second opinion from another dentist (Tony McDowell), who told me my gums were perfectly healthy! I have been seeing Dr. McDowell ever since. I will say that the office is clean, the staff is friendly, and watching TV during your exam is a great perk (although the flatscreen TVs are likely paid for by procedures that weren't necessary). read more

If they are not in your insurance network then any procedure done there is going to cost you a bomb! After insurance, I still had to fork out 1500 dollars to do a root canal and crowning. For the cost you get to watch the television while they fix your teeth and free coffee or water at the door. You can use the computer to access the internet at the waiting room plus a place for the kids to hang out with movies and games. Staff are polite and prompt. Clean environment. Dr. Pham is nice. So if you want to pay for the frills this is the dental place for you. read more

STAY AWAY I was pleased to see a dentist right down the street, it looked like a nice place. I went in for a 6 month teeth cleaning. The dental assistant looked at my teeth and started to let me know things weren't looking good. The dentist came in gave me an examination. He told me you have 14 cavities. WHAAAAAT? How did I go from no cavities 6 months ago to 14. He explained how great his equipment was and that the previous dentist's equipment wasn't able to see the detail his was able to. He sits there and give me his pitch for 10 minutes. I wasn't buying it, so he ends with you look like you should get a second opinion, first thing I agreed with him on. After they could see they didn't have a fish on the line, the assistant flew through the teeth cleaning and didn't do a good job, couldn't have lasted more than a few minutes. My teeth feel cleaner after I brush with my Sonic care for 2 minutes. Her last ditch attempt was mentioning how i had a big cavity behind my front tooth. Sorry, thats actually a filling and not a cavity. The receptionist gave me a hypothetical bill for the work this snake oil salesman would like to perform on me: $5500 after insurance coverage. I decided to go to 3 dentists, not giving them any information beforehand to have any type of bias. 2 dentists said I had 0 cavities, 1 said I had 1 but it didn't require any work because it was so small. I shared the "14 cavity story" with all the dentists. Literally all of their jaws dropped at his diagnosis. One went as to far as to say this guy should not be allowed to be a dentist if he gives these types of overdiagnosis. Sure everyone there was nice, and the office is clean, but they are also looking to rob you. I will tell everyone I know in my neighborhood about this story. I went to Dr. Pham 2 years ago as my 1st. dentist visit since moving to Austin. I knew I need some periodontal work as I am one of those that revisit the dentist every three months to keep this in check. They did a once over like the dentist office always does and determined that I needed periodontal work. In fact, it was so bad that I need to undergo a new treatment that would cost $6000 to properly clean my teeth below the gum line. He also determined after a bit of consideration that I did, in fact, have a cavity under a newly refilled filling. He decided that the hygienist did not need to do much in the way of cleaning until the $6000 procedure was done. They did, however, charge my insurance for the cleaning. After getting a second opinion it was determined that the cavity he wanted to fill was actually a type of underlayment the previous dentist had used. The new dentist said they have the same laser procedure that may help with some bacteria in the deeper pockets next to my teeth and was willing to do my entire mouth for $600. They were quick to note that since I had a similar treatment just 2 years prior that the outcome may not be worth the money spent. $600 seemed like a reasonable deal. I have been doing the same periodontal visits for the last 2 years now with this new dentist, like I always have. No issues have arisen and that cavity that Dr. Pham was so certain of is the exact same size. (not a cavity) Dr. Pham may very well do good work, I don't know, but buyer beware, like many dentists he seems to pray on our ignorance and fear to line his own pockets. read more

My name is Nicole, and I am a former anti-dentite... however, I can happily say those days of fear and distrust are long behind me since meeting Dr. Pham and the Circle C ladies. I went for my initial visit to inquire about Six Month Braces (they are one of few offices in Austin that offer the treatment). The first thing I noticed was that everyone seemed to really enjoy being at work, the second thing was that they have a super nice office complete with flat-screen tvs, swanky leather chairs, computers and a video game station. That was only in the waiting area, the instruments in the back are all of the latest technology as well. As a tech-savvy girl, this helps put me at ease. What really keeps me coming back is Dr. Pham. He is beyond awesome, and has a wonderful and dedicated team of professionals working with him. As a former anti-dentite, I am usually a little anxious about dental appointments, but he and his staff are always sensitive to my needs. Bottom-line: you pay for what you get at Circle C... their compassion, professionalism and facilities are definitely worth every penny! read more

What a change. I went to Circle C about a year ago, full of fear and anxiety, and left feeling so much more relaxed. I won't say I was totally relaxed, as I hate the dentist so much that I would even prefer to see the gynocologist over the dentist, but it definitely took a lot of my fear away. A large part of this was Dr. Pham's attitude. My previous dentist was pretty condescending: she was convinced I was bulimic, as my tooth enamel is thin, and was really bitchy about my cavities. Dr. Pham took a different approach, showing concern rather than judgement, and makes me want to take better care of my teeth because I should care more for myself and I don't want him to worry, not because I'm scared of him. It helped that I didn't have to sit and wait while my anxiety level rose, he got to me promptly, and then had a flat screen tv to watch while he worked. I ended up listening to my ipod though, so I could close my eyes and try to pretend I wasn't there, which was also nice. I've never understood why dentists and hygenists will try to talk to you and ask questions when they are working in your mouth. "I'm trying not to bite you, but it's hard when you are asking me questions!" The other thing that really helped was his pain management approach with cavities. Normally, they just gouge you with that super-painful shot that then numbs you up (irony, anyone?), but Dr. Pham did it differently. He first rubbed some numbing gel, then did a less painful shot, which didn't hurt because of the gel, then I was pretty numbed up so the really painful shot was no big deal. All in all, way better than the old-man dentist with his old-man furniture and magazines that I saw growing up or the new, hip, and mean dentist I saw in grad school. I have been to many dentists in the past and not found a place like Circle C Dental. Dr Pham and his staff are super cool and effecient when it comes to dental care. If you are looking for a stand up type of dentist, then I totally recommend this place. As for the cost of procedures, I will say it is pricey. Then again, as my dad always said (you get what you paid for). Not too mention I have no real clue of what the cost of dental work should be. I got Invisialign done by Dr. Pham a few years back to straighten out my teeth since I didn't have braces as a kid. I also got my teeth whitened through him. He did a wonderful job and trust me, I always get compliments about how straight and white my teeth are! I came back for visits during my invisialign treatments and he always took good care of me. I have since moved away from Austin, but since I come into the city a few times a year for work, I have still maintained Dr. Pham as my choice of dentist. I've been going to Circle C Dental since they opened. The staff are friendly and professional. The dentist is knowledgeable and friendly. They have a comfortable waiting area and a very nice facility. A lot of people have complained about over diagnosis so I will share my observations. The first time I went to Circle C, they recommended some work that was not recommended by my previous dentist. I agreed with their assessment and decided to take things in strides. There was no rush to complete it, but it was recommended. I completed the couple items over a years time and have been going back ever since. Now it is just cleaning and check ups. Dr. Pham appears to be aggressive in terms of dental care/preventive care and wants the best for his patients. read more

I highly recommend Circle C Dental. The staff is professional and consistently friendly/courteous. They have advanced (I'd say in some cases the most up to date) equipment and Dr. Pham does excellent work with a relaxed yet professional "bedside manner". I recently had a crown done and the work was smooth and fast considering the procedure. Unlike my experiences with other dentists, Circle C made the crown in 20 minutes onsite while I waited, without using a mold, so no need for me to wait and return again to get the final crown fitted. Once I was numb I had no pain during the procedure, a very typical small amount of pain the day after, and the area healed quickly. The work was done about 3 weeks ago, so I can now say without a doubt say the entire experience was top quality. read more

I have began to see a trend in modern dentistry and my first visit to Circle C Dental has validated this new market for dentistry services that are being pushed as mandatory. Well in the 80s and 90s when you had some minor gum bleeding you were given a good scolding and told to floss more and maybe sent home with a super powerful mouthwash to remedy the gums and teeth, and told to brush more also. Well now we live in the day and age of the "DEEP CLEANING" which Circle C Dental has taken to an all time high on what they charge and how they schedule this treatment, which they now tell patients with beginning stages of gum disease that if you do not do this treatment you are in great danger of bone loss and all of your teeth, yes demand is induced by the whole staff and then the Dentist completes the sell with his final evaluation......well Circle C told me that they could only do one side of the mouth per session for the "DEEP CLEANING", so they told me it would be around $700 per side because it was two different sessions......I was like WOW! Did I accidentally stumble in to Rodeo Drive Dentistry by mistake, I know Circle C is upscale, but give me a break! Now I remember why it has been two years since I went to the dentist, by the time they were done telling me what I needed to do in order to save my teeth, the estimate was about $2,500 dollars! And I do not have bad teeth or any cavities. And oh yes they vehemently suggest lots of xrays, and they push fluoride. Maybe they had some Xmas bonuses to cover, lol. Well there is not much protection for the consumer these days, and I hope this review will inform someone who has become concerned with the very HIGH prices being charged here. It has become as bad as taking your car to a dealership, oh yes sir you need a new "JOHNSON ROD" that will be $5000 dollars, lol. BUYER BEWARE! I really hate going to the dentist, but when I thought a filling was coming out I decided I should go again. I chose Circle C because of a friend had recommended them. They were able to schedule me super-quickly since it was an emergency. Luckily it wasn't coming out, but they didn't give me a hard time about it either. I've been to dentists that tried to sell me everything under the moon and were incredibly pushy about it. They do recommend services to you, but they will put it on a "proposed treatment" plan so you can see what it will cost you ahead of time. It will also show if your insurance will cover any of part it. Dr. Pham is a great dentist, seems conservative in his approach, and I will continue going to his practice. His main hygienist is really great as well, and I don't feel like I'm being tortured when she's cleaning my teeth. Expect to wait about a month to get scheduled with her though. Although they are not a preferred provider on my insurance, they file it for me. My only complaint is that they don't seem to have a good idea of what my insurance will cover, so I end up over paying every time. Then I have to call and get reimbursed. I can't say whether or not he is expensive for a dentist because they all seem expensive. However, I think it is worth it. read more

Don't Get Ripped Off! Prior to going in for my appointment I contacted them to make sure that my insurance would fully cover their procedures. They assured me that I would not have an outstanding bill following my Appointment. A month later I got a fat bill in the mail. Also they will try to upsell you on anything they can. They tried to charge me for a $100 toothbrush, and assumed that I would buy it without even asking me first. Don't waste your time or money with this place. read more

I called to make a cleaning appointment. I was told that that a cleaning would cost $110. After a lengthy examination I was told that I needed special care. I was then told a cleaning was going to cost $335. Classic bait and switch. Needless to say I declined and I am now searching for a more reputable dentist. read more

After not going to the dentist for many years, I finally got my lazy butt in after being referred to Dr. Pham up in north Austin before he started his own practice. In fact, I waited an extra few months without a dental checkup while he opened his new practice down south, and still make the cross city trek from NW Austin to his practice down in Circle C for my appointments. As others have stated, the procedures may be pricey, but I would rather pay for quality work than rushed work compared to a chain place like Castle Dental. He also has a very nice, modern facility with TVs that you can watch while getting procedures done, and a place for your kids to play at, should you need to bring the little ones in. Everyone on his staff is very nice and knowledgeable, and the appointment reminders by email and text message are nice touches as well. I can't recommend Dr. Pham enough, and the friends I have sent his way like his work as well. read more
