I've had an overall good experience at swish. I've been coming for a few years and had a few different docs (3 I think?) but they're pretty consistent about what they've told me re: recs. I like getting my cleanings because the hygienists are always really nice and the let you watch Netflix while they work (the TVs pull out to be over you and they give you the remote). The place is very clean too, it's a nice environment. I like it better than my last dentist so I'll keep coming and I would rec it to anyone with fairly straightforward dental needs! AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. My husband and I have been a patient for 5 years coming to this office. I came for bi-annual cleaning today and they were trying to force me to do Xrays while i am 6 + months pregnant. Asked to speak to the manager at the front desk and they denied any access, denied speaking to the doctor and refused to give me manager's name or contact information to speak to or call to. Been told repeatedly that they require everyone to get xrays every 12 months which they never disclosed to me prior and my last set of xrays was litterally done 1 year and a week ago . There are NO laws that force xrays every 12 months in the state of TX and for me who is a low risk individual, any doctor who has any skills or professional expertise could have performed a visual exam easily, but brain dead staff at the front desk refused to listen to any reason and was super rude and pushy and refused to allow me to speak to anyone. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL EXPERIENCE. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a dental practise who actually hires competent individuals to work for them, not those that dont have 2 brain cells to rub together. Sadly, i never even got a chance to speak to the doctor or anyone with any kind of power there (still awaiting a call from someone there) so not sure how this would be handled, but honestly i am APPALLED how i was treated there and will be terminating my relationship with them immediately and letting everyone know about my experience. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. These guys are beyond disgusting as a business practice. They do not care about their patients and are there to take your money and that is all. I work for the post office as an RCA, we do ok, but don't make tons of money. I went into this office and was given a treatment plan after x-rays. They told me I needed a crown and possibly a root canal. While I was there for my first appointment, I had asked about Invisalign, which I did/do want to invest in. This turned into a very quick walkthrough of how I can go about it by signing up for Cherry, which I didn't even know what it was at the time, but they explained that it was basically to set up a payment plan. I just want to reiterate that all of this happened so fast, at their front desk and by the time I was walking out, I was signed up for this. OK, fine. Time passes and I contacted Swish to tell them that I wanted to wait on the crown and root canal and only wanted to do the invisalign for now (obviously for financial reasons). The first time I spoke with them on the phone, I was told this was totally fine. It wasn't until I called to make my appointment for having the trays made (or whatever the first process is), I was transferred to another department, who started pressing me on why I didn't want to do the crown. I explained that I did want to do it, but wanted to hold off on it for now until after I was done paying for the Invisalign. These people instantly got nasty with me and told me that I had to do the crown first before I got the retainers. None of this was explained prior to this moment. Had this been explained to me, I would have been fine with holding off on the Invisalign and just doing the crown and possible root canal first. They immediately threatened me that I signed the agreement already. I got nasty right back and said that I did not care and now I won't be giving them any of my money. Since all of this transpired, I am now harassed by Cherry on a daily basis, who I have told repeatedly that I never even got the trays OR the retainer, yet somehow they have paid Swish Dental in full and that they would need to give back the money. Cherry has told me I needed to start a dispute, which I did and then had to wait two weeks. I have heard back from them and they have denied my dispute saying Swish refuses to give back the money because I signed the agreement. Cherry has since returned to sending me text messages and phone calls every single day about paying for this. The whole ordeal is absolute insanity and I have already gotten a lawyer and plan on fighting this nonsense. In closing. Swish Dental. You're vile. An absolute bully of a company. I've now read so many horror stories online and have even seen what's said about them on the Better Business Bureau's website, which I advise everyone here to go check out before you book your first appointment with this horrible, horrible business. The staff was nice and welcoming when we arrived. Documents/Waivers were texted prior to appointment so the checkin process was convenient. I had the Boost Whitening done and my boyfriend got the Zoom Whitening. Since I'm an A1 my Whitening wasnt as noticeable. It was subtle and to be expected. My boyfriend, a C1, had a noticeably brighter smile. The overall visit was great and the doctor was gentle and patient with us. read more

I've been pretty disappointed in the support from this office. The dental care is fine but I've had so many issues with admin side of this place. It's ranged from not being able to receive the correct documentation to submit FSA claims to having sessions cancelled without notice and the being given to other folks at the practice. This is after being hounded to schedule follow-ups. Frustrating experience overall. read more

They did not properly advise me on what the charges would be for the services during my visit. Everything went smoothly and the staff was great, but the dentist definitely tried to upsell me on a bunch of services I didn't need, such as Invisalign, and I have since seen another dentist who was very clear this was not necessary without me even asking. Unprompted, he said the nearly the opposite of what the Swish dentist told me. The dentist at Swish was also the only one who voiced these specific concerns, and due to various moves and insurance changes, I've seen a good variety of dentists. The hours and location are convenient, so if that matters most to you, that's a plus, but I just can't trust their recommendations, so I'll be going elsewhere. read more

The very expensive upselling was very disappointing. I guess it was to pay for all of the fancy x-ray & photography equipment.

I was a previous patient in 2018 but after changing jobs (and insurances), I left for a different office. I returned this week for a routine cleaning, but when I arrived, the front desk told me my appt was canceled because it'd been too long since my last visit with them and needed to go through the new patient exam first. They attempted to text me but admitted the message didn't go through and no email cancellation was sent out. I was irritated by the lack of communication but before I could leave, Aline (sp?) was quick to check their schedule and talk to the team to see if they could still squeeze me in. They walked me right in, got my exam, X-rays, and imaging done quickly (but thoroughly). I wish I got the name of the tech who helped me. She was so friendly, communicative, and efficient. She also did my flossing and polish. I told the hygienist (also very sweet) that it was the least pain I'd been in when they use all those God forsaken scraper tools ha. Lastly, Dr. Brooks came in, somehow remembered me from when I was there 4 years ago, and said everything looked great and sent me on my way. I was so pleased with this experience, I mentioned my husband had just been to another office where they told him he needed almost $5k worth of work (most of which were cosmetic)!! Dr. Brooks told me to have him come in so they could give a second opinion. They got my husband scheduled for the next day and he got a clean bill of health too. Everything the other office found, Dr. Brooks gave a more realistic assessment and ultimately said none of it was urgent and to come back if he started to feel any pain or discomfort. They have lots of plans to work with you that are 0% APR. They went above and beyond - I do recommend them and their cleans are great. I was there for an hour and a half expecting a cleaning. I got X-rays and told I need to make another appointment because they never do the cleaning same day as X-rays. I was given no indication of this being the case. They tried to sell me several unneeded services immediately. When I voiced my displeasure, the office manager just shrugged at me. Staffs and the dentist there were really nice, that's the only positive thing I can say about this place. it was my first time there and also would be the last. My go-to dentist was booked up for months, all I wanted was a simple dental cleaning as I was pregnant couldn't get exposed to X-ray, I was told to sit down and they did a comprehensive " 3D" image scan and take photos etc, which was totally unnecessary in my case, they said it was their office route procedure in order to get a dental cleaning. Until I got the $$$$ bill, all was clear and I just felt like the place was a scam. I have pretty good dental insurance, and I have never been charged for so much for a dental cleaning, my insurance usually covers 100%, looking at the breakdown, they are all coming from their "high-tech" procedures they did. I've been looking for a dentist for about a year now. My dentist retired last year, and boy, I had no idea how hard it would be to find someone! (Thanks, Covid!) A friend of mine told me he goes to Swish in north Austin and raved about how great his experience always is. I found a Swish that was close to me - on Brodie. First, super easy to book online. They are very high-tech with reminder texts and online paperwork. Love! When I got to my appointment, the staff was friendly and explained everything clearly. I knew what to expect the entire time. A special shout out to Amanda, who made this nervous Nellie not so nervous. She was so gentle and friendly. Great dental hygienist! TLDR: I'm glad I found Swish on Brodie! My 3 year old received awesome service! He is usually super shy and nervous around people but they were soooo sweet! They turned on Cocomelon and we're asking him if he was ok before they did anything to his teeth during his check up. He had an amazing time and felt comfortable with the team. I kept holding my breath waiting for him to cry for me or say no but he didn't and he was having conversations with the personnel and most importantly let them get through the WHOLE check up! I received a Zoom teeth whitening here after receiving a free coupon through Yelp Elite. The results were amazing! I've never seen my teeth so white, and I didn't even use the highest intensity level either. It's been 24 hours since I got the whitening and the sensitivity is mild and the "zingers" haven't happened since yesterday evening. I would say to be prepared for some teeth pain and sensitivity if it's your first time, but it's been manageable for me, but I'm also decent at handling pain. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Everything was quick and efficient. I would absolutely recommend this dentist office for whitening, but also cleaning and regular exams since the staff was so great! The office is clean and seems to run smoothly. read more

Booked a new patient appointment online today. Easy enough. Got an email to fill out the forms. So many it took over 30 minutes to complete. Received a call to tell me the first appointment would be only x-rays and not a cleaning. I would need a separate appointment for that. First dentist ever to not offer cleaning and x-rays on the same day. Do these people think we can just take multiple days off work for an appointment that could be done all at once. Update: Within 24 hours of posting my review of Swish Brodie the Operations Manager reached out to me asking to hear more about my negative experience. I outlined the terrible experience I'd had to Adrian and he expressed genuine empathy and a willingness to fix the problem. He helped me schedule an appointment with a different location (4th street) to get the chipped tooth fixed and even followed up after the appointment to make sure that everything had gone as expected. My experience at the other location was a complete 180, staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and communicative about what they were doing and why. The temporary crown I had received broke and they got me in to get a replacement same day. I don't plan to go back to the Brodie location again, but Adrian and the customer service team as well as the team at the 4th street location were fantastic and have completely changed how I view Swish. I guess my overall suggestion would be to check out a couple of Swish locations if you're considering them for dentistry as, in my experience, they definitely don't operate the same. read more

Wow, talk about a time killer. I have been to Swish on Brodie 4 times in the last month and it takes forever. Two of the visits were handled well but the other two were a bust. The first visit was for the initial photos and exam, like most dentists. They took the photos, looked at my mouth and then I sat there waiting. Waiting in 1000 degree heat (the office had the heater on about 80 when it was 40 outside, well I dressed for 40) so I was literally sweating waiting on the doctor. When he arrived after about 30 minutes he said great, here is the plan (verbal, nothing in writing) see you next week. Two cleanings later all good, with the hygienist. Showed today, for what I was told in the first visit plan would be a polishing turned out to be a filling and would take and hour and a half. Well like most people I have a job and blocked out and hour of my day. The lack of communication is what upset me. Let me know the procedure and what is happening please....and for gods sake turn down the heat!!! read more

I set up an appointment at Swish Dental after a Yelp event I attended this week. I was given a chance to get my teeth whiten and I wasn't going to skip that opportunity. I normally would have set up an exam and cleaning for the same day (recommended) but I had just gotten both done last month. Plus my insurance will only cover 2 exams per year. The office is easy to find and right off of Brodie and Davis lane. I was a little early but no worries there. I had to complete some easy paperwork on an iPad and was offered water while I waited. Once my appointment started I was lead to the back and asked if I had any questions after being explained the teeth whitening procedure. My teeth were coated with the whitening stuff and I was able to sit back and relax. I was given full access to the remote so I could explore Netflix to kill the next 30 minutes. I was periodically checked up on to make sure I was comfortable and if I needed anything. After my 30 minutes was done, the teeth whitening stuff was taken off my teeth and rinsed my mouth out. I was given a sheet of Do's and Don'ts to ensure I get the best possible outcome in the next 48 hours. So far, about 24 hours later I have noticed a difference in color. read more

Went to Swish the week between Christmas and New Years. I had a terrible toothache and needed help. My regular dentist was closed for that week. After a set of x-rays, the " dentist" who saw me informed me that my back molar was going to need a root canal. He said he would have to refer me to their oral surgery team and that they would contact me in two to four days. I asked him to please just pull the tooth. I was in pain and was not going to get a root canal for a rear molar. He told me that he could not do an extraction, and I would have to wait for the oral surgery team to call me. NOTE: They have never contacted me. I was sent away with the same pain I arrived with and the promise of a call. Five days later, when my regular dentist reopened, after the holiday, I went to see him. He pulled it, and after insurance, I paid him $87. Today, I received a bill from this inexpert dentist. After insurance, they are charging me $400, and seventeen days later, I still have not gotten a call from their oral surgical team. It is my opinion that Swish is a waste of time and money. I have never been to a dentist who couldn't pull a tooth. Also, I have never been charged $400 (after insurance) to have a degreed (saw it on the wall) dentist look in my mouth and say he doesn't pull teeth. The only good thing about this horrible experience is that the assistant was very pleasant. read more

Great customer service. The staff is knowledgeable and well trained. The dentist was very polite and took his time to provide the right information to the patient. He did not rush, but listened to all my concerns. There was no pushing for unnecessary treatments, but a clear and concise explanation about the benefits of further treatment. Reviewing for my husband. He hadn't been to the dentist in over ten years and was terrified to go even once he got decent insurance; he was convinced all his teeth would need to be removed. Once he finally got there... sure, he had a rotten tooth and his wisdom teeth needed to come out, but that was it. Swish's employees were so gentle and sweet with him. I had him call here because they're open later than most places on Fridays (I think until 5:30). He had all his procedures done and is fine now. The staff was so easy to contact and coordinate with; when he got his wisdom teeth taken out, he was told exactly what to do for care and what to expect, and i was told all the same info (even when I asked for it twice, to write it down). They never once judged him for his lifestyle or being a smoker, and I think he's more willing to go in for cleanings and preventative care now. Recommended. read more

I went there for a routine cleaning and exam and that part was fine. The staff was pleasant and facility is very clean and updated. However I'm also in the process of getting my teeth aligned, and I have one bottom front tooth that is a bit misshaped and makes it hard for the aligners to work properly. The pointy end simply needs to be filed slightly. I called to make an appointment and made sure to ask if that was a service that they offered because that was the main reason why I was booking an appointment. The receptionist confirmed that yes it was something they do, and that I could speak directly with the dentist about it. However, once I got on the chair, I was very surprised that the dentist wouldn't help with filing that pointy tooth. The reason she declined was not because she didn't recommend the procedure, but instead because I was using a competitor to Invisalign, which is the aligner company that Swish uses. She said that she wouldn't know exactly how to shape the tooth to help with the aligning because she needed exact measurements. However, she then proceeded to tell me that I could do it myself at home with an emery board(!), which pretty much contradicted what she had just said about needing exact measurements. I understand that some things might be more complex than I could have anticipated as a patient, but it's not the case here. What I needed was simple and nothing complex that required intricate measurements. The tooth is slightly pointy on one side, it's pretty obvious, and would have been easy to fix. In short, I booked a dental appointment for a specific reason, called to make sure they probided the service I needed, and in the end they didn't. P.S. They also offer free stuff in exchange for a yelp review, which is against Yelp's policy. read more

As someone who absolutely hates going to the dentist, the fun decor, friendly front desk, staff the amazing hygienists and the super kind dentists always make my visit pleasant. Doesn't hurt that I get to watch something on Netflix to take my mind off of my cleaning would recommend to anyone. read more

If you wanna be unheard and unvalued as a patient and a person this is the dental office for you. The dentist and majority of the dental assistants are great and the only reason this review got 3 stars. The front office staff could really use a lot of help with their listening and customer service skills. Their customer service skills are absent at best. We all want to go home at 5pm but while you're at work you could at least do your job. Because of them I will not be returning to Swish. read more
