Went to another place first that tried to quote me almost $900 to just drop the transmission and look at it, they planed on charging even more to fix the "first gear" issue. Took it here instead and within the same business day they had diagnosed and fixed my issue (just low transmission fluid) for about $500 bucks cheaper. Didn't get the chance to do any business with Circle D because happily it turned out not to be a transmission issue after all. But, I spoke with a couple staff over the phone about lining up a rebuilt tranny and pricing estimates before I new it wasn't needed. They were friendly and responsive and were able to line up exactly what I thought was needed and provided a clear price estimate. I was told by a different auto shop that I needed my transmission fluid changed. The price the other shop quoted me on seemed a bit high, and after asking around ,ended up being just that. I called Circle D Transmission and a lady with a very pretty voice told me the mechanics are out to lunch but they will call me back asap. They did ,...not even an hour had passed by before the call back. (Loved the punctuality! )The guy on the phone told me I can drop it off so they can confirm the fluid needs changed and quoted me a price that was half of what the other place gave me! I dropped my Toyota rav4 off in the morning and just a few hours later they said it was completed and ready for pickup. As I walked in I noticed it was ready out front ( no waiting for someone to go find it and pull it up for me so that's a plus) and they took the time to explain to me what they did and made me feel confident in their work. From start to finish these guys were great! I recently had my 2008 H2 taken to Circle D to have a transmission issue diagnosed and ended up deciding to have the transmission rebuilt (6L80, 2.5 package) and I'm so glad I did. I've had some issues for over a year with a clunking and I was thinking it was in the transfer case or differential somewhere but after the trans rebuild it has been smooth strong shifting with no clunking now at all. The guys at this shop know their business from Glen and Clay up front to the builders in the shop everyone here is top notch. I would definitely recommend this shop for all your transmission needs. Original review posted in 2020, updated with some more details in 2023: Smart, fast, professional. I went to the GMC dealership first and after 2 days of keeping my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 they said my transmission was failing and they could rebuild it for $8000. I got a referral from a mechanic that is just outside of my neighborhood and called Circle D Transmission. I explained my problem and they questioned if it was really the transmission right off the bat, but gave a much lower quote if it was. I went there and it turns out it wasn't the transmission, it was the transfer case! I wish the dealership that could have figured that out! But Circle D did, and was able to replace it the same day! This was important to us because I was deploying in less than 2 weeks and my wife needed a reliable vehicle while I was gone. They also updated the software on my transmission and showed me the codes that my truck was throwing that the dealership never even bothered to read! If I have any transmission, transfer case, or drive shaft issues I'll definitely be back. read more

Wonderful shop with lovely, friendly people. After being told I needed a transmission flush at the dealership and then laughed at when I asked a question about it I knew I had to find somewhere else to take my car. We found Circle D on yelp and they answered our questions over the phone when my husband called to get info on the flush/change. I made my appointment, they worked me in and it was finished in an about an hour. Turns out all I needed was a transmission fluid change after all and no flush like the dealership said! SO glad I found this place! I have an Acura TL and the dealer told me it needed a new transmission. Well, it was under warranty by a third party who refused to pay Acura's "exorbitant" labor rates and told me to take it "someplace cheaper". I didn't want to trust my beloved TL to just anyone, so I did my research and it brought me to Circle D Transmission. Wow! This place is great! They were empathetic to my issues with the warranty people (plus, it was expiring in a WEEK) and were quick to get my car in and work on it, despite the delays from the warranty company. I got her back and she drives like new! Glenn and Patricia kept me updated every step of the way and never acted "put out" when I called to check on the progress. A rebuilt transmission took about a week (3 days of that was the delay from the warranty company) and $3900. I would highly recommend Circle D, as many others have. My 2007 Ford Explorer needed help. We took it a well-known and well-respected chain near our house. They diagnosed the need for a whole new transmission at the cost of over $5,000. Given that price, we sought a second opinion. I received one or two recommendations from friends, but I decided to Google for transmission repair places instead. A shop in town that I had heard of my entire life -- and I could still sing their jingle -- came up toward the top of the list. But, a friend who happens to be a mechanic advised against them. Also on the Google search was Circle D. They were conveniently located to our home and my work, so that helped. But also, I noticed the very high ratings they received from other customers. So, I took a leap of faith and gave them a call. From the very first phone calls, Patricia and Glenn were helpful, clear, and honest. They arranged for my car to be towed from the other shop, giving me one less hassle to deal with. They explained what they were going to do to diagnose the problem and how long it would take to do so, not leaving me in the dark. Glenn called with great news that they thought that it was NOT a serious issue and that I would NOT need a new transmission. Without going into details, it was going to cost me less than $1,000 for the repairs that DID need to be made. He asked if I still wanted the transmission to be serviced while it was there, and I gave him the green light. The next day or so, Patricia called with some bad news. While servicing the transmission, they came across some other issues that weren't apparent the first time around. As it turned out, I did need a new transmission. She explained in great detail what all was wrong, what they did to double-check the diagnosis and so on. Yes, a lot of it was over my head, but I could tell that they LOOKED at my car thoroughly. She gave me a break down of the options before me, the pros and cons, and the costs for each one. I had everything I needed to make a decision without feeling pressured or uninformed. When I picked up my car, Sherry took the time to go over with me -- almost line by line -- a detailed printout of everything that they looked at and did to the car, including recommended fixes for a general mechanic to look at and recommended timing for when the transmission should be looked at again. (Their email prompts will remind me!) And by the way -- all of this was for just over $4,000, a $1,000 savings over the chain shop we first went to. And, Circle D did exactly what the chain shop had recommended doing in the first place. I hope I never have to go back to Circle D. Car problems are not fun, especially in Houston and with kids to shuffle around here and there! But I'll be back if my other car or future cars ever have transmission issues. Had a hp transmission built by them, clutches burnt up in transmission so I brought it back of course it not under warranty. Which is fine I was going to pay them to get it rebuilt again but Glen said if they rebuild it then he will not warranty if anything happens (which seem sketchy right there, and they claim to be the best) Long story short I put my truck back on the tow truck and got my Transmisison built else where. Glen is a clown! Only to find out the clutches that were installed were stock clutches. Paying for top notch high performance parts and get stock parts. We have used Circle D for decades and they do excellent work. We have had several transmission rebuilds for various cars both automatic and manual. They also built a custom high performance C3 transmission for a fully restored performance 67 Mustang fastback. Took my 2005 Mustang there...they test drove the car, explained possible issues and found the problem. The work was done properly and faster than what the dealer told me.
