Hatfield's Goode Grub - Chicken Dip! Pork Rinds still cracking

Hatfield's is located in a strip of shops on Lorain Road in Kamm's Corners. The restaurant has a small patio out front, a nice old school bar along one wall, a bunch of tables and an open kitchen in the back. The decor is casual eclectic Americana. Nice and dark with a comfortable feel. The menu is definitely Southern BBQ influenced, one side is breakfast, which has been rated as one of the best in Cleveland. The lunch and dinner menu is straight up comfort food. As a pescetarian the only entree is the Catfish and Grits, so I got an order to eat and one to go for the next day. The Catfish and Grits came out looking and smelling great. The catfish is smaller nuggets heaped on top of a generous portion of creamy grits with a great sauce, cheese and fresh jalapeno slices. The dish was delicious, perfectly spiced with just the right amount of heat. The jalapeno slices provided spiciness and a welcome crunch to the dish. I was so happy that I not only got to try the dish, but even better is having a second helping for the next day. Service was attentive and friendly, the chef/owner came out of the kitchen to check on the few guests in the dining room, always welcome to see a guy who cares about his restaurant and is proud of the food he is putting out. I would suggest giving Hatfield's Goode Grub a try, if the rest of the menu lives up to the Catfish and Grits it is one of the better local casual restaurants. Well worth your time.

I have never been to this place nor have I ever gone to a sitdown barbecue place. Since I was really overwhelmed I asked the waitress to let the chef pick. I'm so glad I did. I have never ordered hash and he chose it. Really really good! He also chose my favorite breakfast meat and eggs the way I like em! We loved everything about this place, it felt like we were in a Memphis bar not Cleveland Ohio!! The vibe food and service are out of this world!

My wife found a container of utensils after the meals were delivered by the kitchen staff without forks. The runner gave us take out trays. She eventually dropped off the check without a comment about her absence. That said, the food was good. My wife enjoyed her pulled chicken and I liked the pulled pork. Both of us enjoyed the coleslaw and greens sides. We'd come back. We only wonder if there will be a waitress.

The table was fine but the barstools left something to be desired. Menu was promising and I was excited to try the Saturday's special - Prime Rib. Sadly it had sold earlier in the evening so I settled on the ribeye. It was good but at $32 for this area I expect better than good. They were also out of any red wines which was also surprising for 7pm on a Saturday night. My wife chose their special house margarita which was served in a rocks glass and cost $14. Not bad, but not worth the cost. All in all, it was a decent dinner in a cool place, but there is room for improvement in pricing, seating and inventory.
