Do order a slice of lemon to season the fish with, it does need a touch of acid. Sometimes I think there is a conspiracy toward me and fast food places regarding cheese. I love cheese. The place has a great local vibe and a busy, energetic atmosphere. The cashier was pleasant, respectful, and gave excellent recommendations. It's definitely a hidden gem off the beaten path, but well worth seeking out--clearly a spot both locals and well-researched visitors find. Loved the local artwork for sale on the walls, which added to the character of the space. Everything about the experience felt authentic and welcoming. The service was meh and the restaurant had your typical "bbq joint feel" (it was filthy in there though... the floors were an ice rink with grease). Turns out it is possible to find a fast, cheap, and delicious lunch. The tacos come "Mexicano" or "Gringo" style. (Cilantro & Onions or Lettuce & Cheese) The tortillas are fresh. Even after the 2021 rebrand, it still held on for a while, but something in the last 5 years at the main office has completely lost touch. They expanded to three locations: ; downtown, Tybee, and Hilton Head, and in the process the whole identity fell apart. The menu has been gutted of its originality. The "OG" items are now overpriced, portion sizes have been cut in half, and the original sides that made it special are gone. What used to be a simple, order-and-sit-down experience is now chaotic. You're herded in by an overstaffed but somehow still disorganized team of high-turnover employees with zero consistency and very little emotional intelligence. There are always way too many staff for the number of customers, yet service somehow keeps getting worse. Last night was the final straw. We tried the Tybee location first, waited 30 minutes just to be seated, only to be told they were basically out of everything and could only do drinks. So we drove to downtown. Same exact thing. Out of sausage. When we asked if we could just remove it or substitute it, we didn't get a simple no, we got an "absolutely not," because apparently everything is pre-mixed and nothing can be adjusted. Even worse once we sat down. It took 15 minutes just to be asked for drink orders. A different server came over, introduced himself like we were starting fresh, and then got visibly annoyed when we said we'd already ordered water and a soda. From there it just kept getting more awkward. At one point he bumped my cup while I was literally lifting it to my lips and told me to "watch out" while he was placing food down. He took forever to check us out and finally bring our soda to go, and ended the night by saying, "just so you know I'm faster than the other girl," like we were in the middle of some weird staff competition we didn't sign up for. On the outside it still looks like a fun Savannah staple. But once you sit down, you realize you're no longer a local guest, you're trapped in an overhyped tourist operation that's completely lost what made it good in the first place.

I was told at the drive-thru to pull up to order. I was met at the window by the same less than pleasant lady, who told me that EVERYTHING has to cook. I asked her if anything was ready and she replied with "EVERYTHING has to cook". How does a 24hr business have absolutely nothing prepared during the time when people are short on time while on the way to work. On the bright side, I guess the food will be fresh whenever they decide to prepare it.
