The food was okay and the service was okay. I was so excited based on so many reviews and reading the menu a head of time. Got the conquistador and the nachos. Both unfortunately were underwhelming. The bread was tough to eat and chew, the size of the sandwich was also not worth the price. The chicken well seasoned and tasted good. The nachos were under topped leaving us with 75% of the nachos chips without any toppings. The chips were very sturdy almost too thick. The flavor was nice but with only a portion being able to be eaten with the toppings, not great overall. Maybe it was an off day or not the right things to order, but left us sad for $32 later and not being satisfied. I think it may be the CONQUISTADOR with sausage added to it. I find their bread hoagies to be a little dry. It could be much improved if the bread was fresh. The fries are really good. I am thinking that a side of the special sauce for the sandwich would make a great fry dip! Service was really slow today. Drink orders took forever. The two people in our group that ordered a poke bowl were served last when everyone else was about done. You don't have to cook raw fish and vegetables so not sure what happened. Every time I'm anywhere close, I make it a point to stop, and this trip was no different. I was driving back home to North Carolina and had to make one last stop because it's just that good. The food is always fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. The sandwich was perfectly toasted with fresh ingredients, plenty of parmesan, and an amazing sauce, and the fries were cooked perfectly. I had Zunzibar (also known as Zunzi's) recommended to me by several family members as a great place to grab a meal in Savannah, as it serves up one of the best chicken sandwiches in the world (probably according to some random "culinary expert" or magazine/poll). I figured I'd put the claims to the test for myself. The places is well decorated with both outdoor patio and indoor seating, with fun vacation vibes. We ordered the Fire Island (peri-peri blackened mahi) and Conquistador (chicken) sandwiches. Both sandwiches (4.5/5) were absolutely delicious and prepared using fresh and flavorful ingredients. I'm glad I asked for the sauces on the side for the chicken sandwich, as I only liked 1 of the 2 sauces. The Zapp's potato chips were your standard run of the mill potato chips, but were a decent accompaniment to the sandwiches. I'd certainly be a regular customer for their chicken sandwich if I lived closer. The funny thing is that I had an Uber driver raving about the same sandwich when I brought it up the following day. Service (5/5) was kind and friendly throughout the meal. This place has gone from amazing local food with a South African twist to complete commercialized garbage. Local Savannah foodie pages have been saying the same thing for years. Even after the 2021 rebrand, it still held on for a while, but something in the last 5 years at the main office has completely lost touch. They expanded to three locations: ; downtown, Tybee, and Hilton Head, and in the process the whole identity fell apart. The menu has been gutted of its originality. The "OG" items are now overpriced, portion sizes have been cut in half, and the original sides that made it special are gone. What used to be a simple, order-and-sit-down experience is now chaotic. You're herded in by an overstaffed but somehow still disorganized team of high-turnover employees with zero consistency and very little emotional intelligence. There are always way too many staff for the number of customers, yet service somehow keeps getting worse. Last night was the final straw. We tried the Tybee location first, waited 30 minutes just to be seated, only to be told they were basically out of everything and could only do drinks. So we drove to downtown. Same exact thing. Out of sausage. When we asked if we could just remove it or substitute it, we didn't get a simple no, we got an "absolutely not," because apparently everything is pre-mixed and nothing can be adjusted. Even worse once we sat down. It took 15 minutes just to be asked for drink orders. A different server came over, introduced himself like we were starting fresh, and then got visibly annoyed when we said we'd already ordered water and a soda. From there it just kept getting more awkward. At one point he bumped my cup while I was literally lifting it to my lips and told me to "watch out" while he was placing food down. He took forever to check us out and finally bring our soda to go, and ended the night by saying, "just so you know I'm faster than the other girl," like we were in the middle of some weird staff competition we didn't sign up for. On the outside it still looks like a fun Savannah staple. But once you sit down, you realize you're no longer a local guest, you're trapped in an overhyped tourist operation that's completely lost what made it good in the first place. read more

As soon as we sat down the hostess brought us water for the dog which was great. Our waiter was very helpful when we were making menu decisions. With such different wing flavors we both got wings. The periperi buffalo was better than any buffalo I've had and the Dank sauce was a good mustard based sauce. We loved the chips and their seasoning. However I'm sad to report my favorite sandwich, the Rising Sun, is no longer on the menu, but the Falafel Roll has been my new go to! They're currently remodeling part of their interior, so inside seating is limited but there's still plenty of outside seating with heat lamps! Quick stop on the way out of Savannah was a hit! I got the appetizer called Lekker spread which you get to pick dips for the pita/chips/veggies. I got hummus, guacamole, and a chicken curry. We were in Savannah for a small family vacation for a few days, and this was our first stop upon getting to town. We chose Zunzi's for lunch, given good reviews here. It is a unique eatery, with largely outdoor seating and a restroom that is accessible from the exterior of the building. We had two adults in two small children in our party. Overall, I think everyone just thought their food was OK. Of course my children enjoyed the prepackaged items (rice crispy treat and juice box) served with their meal, but neither finished the entrée. I ordered a cocktail which was tasty, but overfilled with ice so it was a short-lived experience. We stopped here with friends while visiting Savannah. Our friends were hungry and wanted a substantial meal so ordered wings and a sandwich, which they enjoyed. My fiancé and I were not super hungry having had a big breakfast so we just shared a salad. The salad was not particularly tasty and was heavy on the iceberg lettuce (a subpar lettuce if there ever was one) and skimpy on romaine.
