Not sure why since it's so new but here in lies my biggest issue with save mart. These two particular stores are very close and they are always busy but the old store across from the lake is still vacant. Same happened all over Modesto and this just kills the shops that the old stores used to anchor, why the city let's save mart get away with that makes no sense. The new stores are nice with just about everything you need from bakery, deli, and your usual grocery items. This store has real good service and staff always aim to please. I just noticed today the pineapple coaring machine and the orange juice maker which are cool gadgets to see but not something I would use as I rather make my own. I have to say that the bakery does a really nice job at this store this weekend I tried their 3 leches cake and it was really good. So if I do shop at a supermarket this is the one I come as it is cheaper than their competitors and their service like I said earlier has been pretty consistent and go

I do my grocery shopping throughout the month spending well over $700. For the month. My main…read moreshopping is done at the beginning of each month spending at least $400.-$500. That's a lot of groceries, right? I am 72 years old and I find it appalling that the Riverbank SaveMart expects me to bag my own groceries. makes me so mad. Especially due to the fact that I'm spending a lot of money at that location (I happen to live around the corner.) I might as well be shopping at Winco where groceries are cheaper, but I'm expected to bag my own groceries. I get that because the grocery prices are cheaper. SaveMart groceries keep going up! And yet you expect me to bag my own groceries and I don't mean that the cashiers should have to do it either. They shouldn't! Since you charge more for groceries why don't you at least hire baggers. I find your Save Mart store in Riverbank to be a mess and not well stocked or cared for. All I can say is a 72 year old should not have to bag her own groceries. No matter how much she spends, and I spend a lot. Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone

It has as all the feel of warmth and what you want in a neighborhood store. Helen is one of the owners and is so sweet and awesome! Your one stop shop for groceries, paying your PG&E bills and even if yo have to send a money gram. Better than taking the drive to the big chains like Savemart and Obriens , I come here!

When the present owners purchased it, they kept the old fashioned family atmosphere, it's a step back in time to shop there, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Those complaining about the meat not being fresh don't know what they're talking about, unless your standing outside of livestock slaughtering pen, it won't be truly 'Fresh', the fact that meat is brown doesn't mean it's bad meat, that's the way butchered meat normally appears, the red you see is an added dye by the big chains to sell the impression that it's straight out of the cow,pig or what have you, I've worked around slaughter houses enough to know what I'm talking about. They have a good butcher shop and quality product, and their clerks are always ready to be of service to the customer. That's something that one doesn't find much these days.

It is a huge disgrace to write this review; but here it goes…read more.. I went in to purchase their ribs to grill; I asked the butcher for twelve ribs pointed at the ones I wanted. He said they would have to CHARGE ME $2.50 extra for choosing the ones I would want. This was the second time this ridiculous comment was made; I didn't believe them at first. I proceeded by asking them 'why they are doing this?' They said it comes from the management and that they couldn't do anything about it. I was absolutely disgusted by this type of robbery. This is FRAUD when they are marketing a price and then try to CHARGE me extra for what I am already paying. The customer service was complete GARBAGE! I am paying by the LB! They treated me like I was robbing them for even asking. I will be REPORTING this to the better business bureau as this is a shady practice. The butchers were even mocking me when I was paying at the cash register. They began to laugh and even sing. It is NOT about the money. It is about the PRINCIPLE! This isn't how you run a business. This is shameful and WILL be reported. It is same to assume that I WILL never set foot in this place again and I will only support businesses that care about the customer. SHAME ON LA CHIQUITA FOR TRYING TO EXPLOIT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND PROVIDE BELOW AVERAGE CUSTOMER SERVICE. ZERO STARS
