Great supermarket. I've been going here for the last four years since I moved to this area. This supermarket stays clean. The customer service is wonderful. The employees know you by name because you come so frequently they have an inside bar restaurant, which is wonderful for a stressed day out, it's great. They have nice reasonable sales. Sometimes you just need to stack up on some things when you think you don't need it everything you could want in a store one stop they have a FedEx, Amazon money orders a butcher for seafood the only thing I can tell you, they don't have full barbecue this week the week of the 16 February 2026, which I love their pool pork and they don't sell non-alcoholic beverages at the bar I have become a non-alcoholic drinker and I really wanna come back to the bar, but I have to go on the floor and by my own non-alcohol and then take it to the bar and drink it with my friends they should sell that beer and wine. They should have assigned the ad advertise when senior day is cause I am a senior and I always have to ask the cashier and I miss it every time. read more

I went into the bakery to look for a cake for my Coach turned 72. I was indecisive on what to choose. The lady that helped me at the bakery seemed very impatient with me. she seemed bothered having to wait on me and kept trying to leave to try to come back when I was only Customer and the clearly weren't busy at bakery . She made me feel rushed and was kind of rude frankly. Then when I finally choose a cake, I asked her to put happy birthday COACH and she asked me how to spell the word Coach. on a serious note - Customers are the reason why businesses keep going, so Customer service should be the main priority - definitely dissatisfied. read more

Next day meat was bad with meat prices you would think they would stand by their quality, they do not. They would not do an exchange regardless of it being in the original packaging. I went into SaveMart today to get some lunch around 10:30am. There were a lot of choices to choose from! I ended up at their sushi station and was curious if I could put in a request. The man making sushi was so kind and helpful! I asked for sushi made with tuna, wrapped in cucumber and then a cucumber avocado roll! His service was just so great! He communicated, went onto the floor to get cream cheese for my roll and was just very kind! I definitely will be coming back! read more

Updating: Since the store opened I have become a regular. This store is great, however I do have one complaint. Save Mart pushes the fact that they will grill meat for you in the meat department for free, meaning you can grab a package from the case and give to to the associate who will season it and cook it to your liking while you shop. Once they're done you pay nothing more than the price of the meat (in theory). The problem is, as much as they advertise this I have never successfully been able to do this. This week I didn't have time to meal prep my lunches for work as I usually do so I stopped in and grabbed a package of b/s chicken breasts. I took it to the counter and asked the guy working if I could get the chicken breasts cooked while I grabbed a few other things. The worker looked at me and said "Sure, but we won't be able to do it until Friday if you don't mind waiting." Huh??? I thought I misheard him, but he repeated himself and said "we're booked until Friday." How is this possible??? People are making reservations to have their chicken cooked at the meat department? The grill was literally empty right then and there also. If people are able to book time slots in advance, this is a broken system. It should be first come, first served. It reminded me of the first time I tried to have this done a year or so prior. That day the worker told me it would be an hour or so wait. I ended up leaving empty handed that day as well. I order 6lbs of cooked ground turkey while it was on sale for 4.00 per pound. I picked it Sunday on the 24th of August. i got it home and it was dried out and burned in some places, with no flavored. I had ordered Adobo for seasoning. Unfortunately i was unable to take it back because i needed to get ready for work. I also should have paid 24$ for it and i was charged 45$. They should show more care in what they produce for the customer, since they do offer this service. FOOD is high!! It was really a disappointment. I feel shopping at SaveMart is a gamble. Like; do I go to this one for produce but then drive to the other one for meat? The one in Riverbank has an amazing bakery/deli section and meat department, but the produce dept stinks and there is never anyone around to ask questions. The SaveMart on Oakdale/Sylvan was built to be some "uppity" place to shop and has a little eatery inside. It really is legit; super good food, great drink selections and generous with their pours. Produce is amazing and always has someone out to ask questions. The bakery/deli is awful! It's like they spent all that money on everything else and comes across as if they shoved it in the back. They also have a great meat dept. and alcohol "fridge" area, which is awesome. Aisles are so ridiculously small, the end of the aisles to the cash register, gives zero room to wait behind the person in front of you. So, you have all these people, waiting in line, all the way down the aisles...which in return doesn't allow for shoppers to get by or to get what they need; they have to turnaround. Lastly...I know, I know, this has become a novel of a writing! The SaveMart on Scenic/Oakdale and also the one on Pelandale, are the same. Outstanding produce dept and Bakery/deli, and a so-so meat dept. The rest of the store is a joke. A self check-out that is mostly closed then actually open. Never enough employees on the registers so the lines build up. Just weird layouts and has a warehouse feel. read more

We have been coming to this area's Save Mart since moving here well about 18 years ago, when it was at the original location down the street. The new place is clearly an improvement in many ways, my wife seems to have a mixed relationship with the place (decries the brew dept near the NE part of the store for poor service) and I only tried the "cook to order" section of the meat dept once and wasn't impressed. Checkout can be a situation of the checkers acting as though "we have our personal conversations to take care of." I can't say how many times that their interactions were more with each other than myself, and being handed my receipt after they were done checking, still chatting away with a co-worker. Sad that they are no longer locally owned, and in fact have been sold twice over the past few years. All of that said, I scored them 4/5 as they are close, well-kept, have most of what I need, even the prices are a bit steep, it is what it is. read more

I don't know if it's cause me and my man were in our 20s but she just plain out ignored us and didn't say a word to us. no hello, no total said, no bye. we were nice as fuck. i work in customer service. i told her goodmorning, smiled, was nice to the lady who bagged the groceries. and the muffins they sold me DAY OF were moldy. why are they on the shelf if there's mold on them?? and the expiration date isn't until the end of october. the return process was irritating as well. I've lived in Modesto 30.years now, own a home near the Standiford Save mart, for at least 25 years they consistently have the worst steaks, their beef is so tough I think they get it from old dairy cows and they consistently have a tendency to leave expired canned goods on the shelves. When it doesn't change over that many years you know it's a company policy. But they do have nice service. If you want the best beef in town go to Raleys, hands down the best most tender beef of any place in Modesto. read more

The best save mart around Modesto, the cleanest, most organized, and the best lit location, with the big windows. Really makes it feel like an upscale grocery store. I stopped in while I was in the area, I went it for one thing walked out with so much more. Their sushi here is so fresh, they had someone making it and it was so delicious! This was the second time I had the meat department cook meats for me, the tri-tip seasoned well and cooked perfectly medium rare as I ordered. I also ordered a rack of lamb that was season well and cooked perfectly medium rare. I will continue to have them cook meats for the holidays special occasions for me. They were amazing and friendly to talk on the phone. read more

How did I not know about the tasting options for beer!! Shop, grab a few drinks from their beers on top and chill out. They rotate their beer so if you find something you lo e then load up! It may be gone before your next visit. read more

Went in again, smelled the stuff cooking in the back. Walked back to the butcher dept where the smoked meats are I picked out what looked like a nice package bought it, took it home and WTF! One strip of meat, one small piece and a sh!t ton of fat turned over to hide the fact that it's fat. literally 50 to 60% fat. Was to be marble cake with FRESH strawberry filling (which is an extra charge) and chocolate buttercream frosting; to be decorated in spring colors for my daughters birthday. The management of this store has changed for the worse. When it opened it was nice and clean, produce dept was half way decent, now I won't even eat food on this store. The save mart in riverbank is vastly superior, and that store has a much better produce manager and dept. The manager who runs produce in Modesto should be relieved of his/her duties. Dirty, unkept department in Modesto. Update: This stores management is still Terrible. The only way to fix your produce department issues is to replace your produce dept. manager, or even better change the management of the whole store. For the love of god, train your baggers already! Every single time I come in I ask them to "Please make the bags light, I have bad wrists." Every time! And almost every time I walk out with bags packed to the max. I included a picture of one bag, weighing in over 15lbs, as example. They're all packed like this. Also, explain to them that eggs, bread, veggies do NOT belong in a bag full of cans...why do I even have to say this?? And when did they stop offering to help you out? Literally had two of them packing down my buggy with $300 in groceries, then walk off to gossip at another register. This is the norm. Fix it. You get 2 stars because your Meat Department and Produce Department is always very helpful and friendly...work on the Baggers. read more

Toured the brand new store at a preview night and WOW, this store is beautiful and innovative. There is a restaurant called The Tipping Point inside the supermarket. There are so many convenient quick meal service options for the busy family. They will cut, chop and slice any produce while you shop. They will smoke, marinate and even GRILL your meats for you. They have a nut bar, and do in house nut roasting. You can have fresh pressed peanut butter, almond butter and more. They make fresh made tortilla's right in the store, they have a beautiful selection of meats, breads and desserts in the bakery. They have a salad bar and hot food for example grilled cheese and soups of the day. They also have hot foods to go. This store is absolutely gorgeous, I wish there was one in my neighborhood I could frequent more often. If you have friends or family in the Modesto area, send them to check this flagship store out! I went to buy groceries and beer for the husband. As I was checking out, I got carded. I flipped my ID over for him to scan. Teenage Cashier: Lady, this isn't Target. We don't scan here. I don't know what Target did to hurt the kid that left him so salty, but I am dying to know the chisme. Side note, this is the only grocery store I know locally to have 96% lean ground beef. I give this store 3 stars because it's a great store with a lot of variety but the customer service skills on display here go from great to not so great. I'm in this store very frequently (3-5 times a week) as I live in the neighborhood. So I spend a lot of time there. The guys behind the meat counter have to be asked to help customers. One of them had his back to me as he was having a conversation with a coworker. The coworker who was facing me, let him know I was standing at the counter. He turned, looked at me & went right back to what he was doing - no "I'll be right with you", no "one moment please", no nothing. Finally, the guy facing who was facing me came around the work table & helped me. Shortly after that, an employee cut me off while I was pushing my cart down the aisle. I said rather loudly "excuse me!" But he just kept right on walking. No "excuse me." No "I'm sorry." I understand that some people have no home training but in this instance, I believe that this Savemart needs to train their employees to display courtesy & customer service with their patrons. read more

The store in general is fine. But....they do not have a mask policy in place to protect their customers or staff. I saw 3 out of about 30 customers without a mask (no mask insight at all). I asked my cashier about the stores mask policy, and basically they do not have a policy in place regarding a mask! If you care about your safety and those around you, this Save Mart is not for you. read more

I don't know what the deal is with Save Mart and their deli and bakery workers. They all either hate their jobs, or they're just trained to be rude. I've had a bad experience ordering a cake. And right now buying their specialty salads that weren't put out in the case and I was just supposed to assume or know what the names of the salad. Strange that these people decide to be in a customer service position and then choose to fail in providing courteous customer service. read more
