Saw Battle Hymn at the Ford and it was absolutely fantastic. If you have a chance to see a Circle X show, GO!

I have been to the LA Philharmonic Walt Disney Concert Hall several times to see/hear different genres of music from ballet, to symphony, to jazz, and of course classical music, and during the holidays they give a great performance by their choir. Those of you who know me, know I love classical music and do have my favorite composers: Chopin, Vivaldi and Mozart. On Sunday, March 29th at 7:30pm my friend and I went to see Strauss, Bruch, & Moussa's elegant, classy performance that shook up the whole entire venue and the audience. It was just MAGNIFICENT! 10/10 The venue itself is STUNNING! Glamorous and easy to navigate all the aisles. Our seats were very comfortable and you can see the stage from any corner/angle since the theatre is not that big. Also has balcony seating. Tickets were $50 a piece not including tax. It has a beautiful gift shop, garden, different restaurants all around the building, and a small store where you can purchase some beverages and snacks. Overall, a GREAT performance and we both had a lovely time. Parking is $10 with few an entrances and few restrooms for both men & women. Thank you all for another AWESOME performance!! Will definitely return again next time I get a brochure or pamphlet in my mail.

Love the layout that literally using all spaces for guests to enjoys the music in the given space.

Crabs in a Bucket by…read moreBernardo Cubria directed by Alana Dietze July 12th- August 21st "Crabs in a Bucket follows Amargo and Pootz who are two bitter crabs living in a shucking bucket. They spend their days talking chit about the crabs that got out, the ones who couldn't take it, and the losers who still live among them. When a new crab arrives filled with hope and change, they are faced with who they once were and their incessant dream of getting the shuck out." Clever little story where knowing a little Spanish and even Yiddish enhances the word play. Crab costumes are whimsical. Go soon since it closes mid August 2023.  The Atwater Village Theater is a multiplex with 3 small 99 seat or less nonequity theatres. Since many people did not want the front seats we had ring side seats to get up close to the actors. The seats seem well banked so there should be no line of sight problems unless you're seated behind Madge Simpson. Purchase refreshments at the reception counter although we didn't take advantage since we ate before at down home El Ruby Mexican about 6 car minutes away. Also we went on a Monday night which was discounted to sweeten the deal.  Small parking lot is available just to the right of the theatre as well as a large parking space to the right of nearby Momed restaurant. Street parking is limited.  Fun weekday night out for in person story telling entertainment. 4 stars.

There were a few funny moments early on but it gets extremely serious. One measure of a show's success is the conversation it sparks afterward. Too bad ours was more of a "What the hell was that? Oh well." conversation.

Visit August 2026…read more This was a super fun and cute visit. Attended the birthday for my cousin's 1-year old boy. My cousin had strong happy memories of visiting Bob Baker Marionette Theater when she was young so ta-dah! Tbh, I had never heard of this place. Tbh, I was very curious how this generation of young kids, who are raised with cell phones and tablets would be engaged in this live puppet based presentation. I mean, I recall watching marionettes live at fairs and even on tv when I was a kid (Thunderbirds anybody?) but I was born in the 70's. BBMT pulled it off! The show, centered around a train journey, kept at least 30 kids (ranging from 1 to at least 10 years) laughing, clapping, "oohing" and "aahing". No crying or kids having to be entertained by their parents' cell phone because they had tuned out. The puppeteers did a fantastic job. You can tell they put in a large amount of work. Each scene was a super fast transition. They definitely got their exercise. Each song was catchy. There was a live organist as a pre-show as the theater filled up. Total nostalgia songs. Started tearing up when he broke out "Rainbow Connection." Theater staff were super welcoming and patient with the kids. Highly recommend for you parents out there for a unique experience to share with your child's r.

It used to be a Masonic Lodge, but now it's taken care of and used as a music performance stage. There are two ways of getting in, but the one in the back is used for guest list invite and people who will call their tickets to a concert. I did Wilco, so I ended up in the alleyway behind the building. It didn't take long for me to go in, and meet up with an individual with a computer who checked me in. They do a short bag check and you're pretty much up the stairs to the left, wear your band might have a merch stand going up. When you walk into the hall, there's a bar in the center of the back of the room. They seem to have everything you could want to make a good drink. The place can fit it as many as 500 people. Last night when I went, there was about 3 to 400. The band I went to see is really good and I really enjoyed my time there. I can't wait to see which one of my favorite bands ends up playing there again. For me, it was a very short walk to the metro station, just a block away. There are a lot of good places to go eat and drink before you get there. The only thing I didn't like about the place but I can get over it quick is the fact that they didn't have anywhere to sit. So wear comfortable shoes when you visit.

Just make sure to read the signs. My friend and I were here for Ultra VIP and the sound check and other activities were around 4:15 PM. We got there a bit earlier and I'm glad at that time, the entrance is at the side, so the building provides shade over the waiting area and there was a gentle breeze too which was nice. Staff is very friendly, helpful and assistance. We had to transfer tickets over and it was as simple as a super short, brief explanation to staff/provided the ticket owner's name and it was all good. None of that BS from larger venues or if we had to deal with a QR code or crazy ticketing system. Huge relief. Thank you for being independent! We got VIP wristbands and they also card you for a wrist band if you want to order alcohol since there's a bar in the back. The concert area is upstairs and it's neat that it's historically a masonic lodge too. Neat door like backdrop to the stage and the historic wooden feel to it is nice too. Restrooms are a bit small, so it can get gross after a show, but we went beforehand so no issues for us. Free water throughout and trashcans everywhere too. Love that logistical planning. There's food and apparently an adjacent restaurant, we didn't get a chance to go, but it smelled good when we were leaving. Lights were a bit glaring but was adjusted and changed throughout the concert versus when it was on for sound check, just adjust the lighting settings on your phone. Good acoustics and sound quality, it got a bit warm at times, but not horrible, so AC is quite strong here. Wouldn't mind coming back here for another show!

The VIP room was pretty empty as well. And you're not allowed to bring outside food or drink. Some shirts and hoodies for sale but pretty lackluster overall. Many people complained about the plot, but I went in with no expectations and had a good time. If you reframe it as you somehow fell into hell and need to escape, then you'll have a great time. Don't think too deeply. The actors, ambiance, decorations and room setups were well done. The ice room could've been colder with some dry ice. I do think it's pretty steep for a 35 minute escape maze and the behind the scenes was cool but short. The whole experience took us an hour, including bathroom breaks. I recommend going early because it seemed like the actors don't get a lot of breaks so I'm glad I got to see their more passionate acting when they're not tired yet. I think it's good to try once as a beginner but definitely more excited to try other productions like Willow.
