IVDD is not a death sentence"…read more On Tuesday, June 23, I came home from work around 6:30 pm and noticed my usually vocal and active pug, Chula, did not get up to greet me, but instead just lay on the tile floor not moving. I tried to pick her up and noticed that when I set her down her front left leg knuckled under her weight, and she fell. As the evening progressed, she lost all mobility in all her legs and could not bear any weight at all. I took her over to Animal Emergency Center of Killeen. After listening to Chula's history of severe hip dysplasia, a thorough examination and x-rays, the vet surmised that Chula had possibly slipped a disk in her neck and was suffering with IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) causing the paralysis in all four limbs. The one piece of good news was that she could still discern deep pain. The vet suggested I take her to a veterinary neurologist in Austin for an MRI and surgery. The main problem with this treatment option was the expense of this kind of surgery about $10,000 and on a nine year old dog. A second option that she mentioned was hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Salado. I left confused with my paralyzed pug. The following day Chula spent a day with her own vet, Dr. Maldonado , who was concerned about keeping her spinal cord alive. She wrote me a referral to All Creatures Hyperbaric Care and personally contacted Teri on my behalf. The next day, June 26, Chula started treatment. On day two, I became concerned that I might have to put her down. She was in pain and could not urinate at all. Thankfully, Dr. Duel, a vet in Salado, agreed to see her after hours and help me relieve her bladder. It was touch and go for a few days. In my gut, I just didn't feel like it was Chula's time. Because of her previous history of hip dysplasia and some other signs in her back legs (limping, drooping tail, the beginning of incontinence) and her size, it took about 4-5 treatments to begin to see any change. The first signs were her being able to move her head more from left to right and being able to curl her tail again, something I had not seen for a while. Teri worked diligently with me to help Chula. She ensured that Chula had as many sessions as she needed to support her while she was healing. Additionally, she helped her with rehab of her atrophied muscles due to inactivity and certain medications she has to be on. Then, all of a sudden, at the end of last week, Chula started to stand on her own. Then the next days she started taking steps, and now on July 26, she is walking. I know she is still recovering, but she is on her way to being back to herself. I am so grateful for Teri and Drake, who came in on the 4th of July, for helping my girl heal. If it were not for their help, I may have had to make a decision that I did not want to make. I will forever be grateful and highly recommend you and All Creatures Hyperbaric Care.

When we got him home, there were a few questions since it was the youngest pug we had adopted and they answered EVERY question patiently and even gave us records and vet info to pass on to our local vet. great pups, patient breeders, and they still check on him two years later... couldn't ask for better!!

Cary was amazing he came out and told me all about the floor and how to care for it with or without their services! Their price was so reasonable and they even rescheduled at our convenience when we had a few things come up. They came out today and spent 6 hours making sure that every spot was cleaned! I handed her a large amount of cash and she handed me the puppy. I asked for his registration papers and she said she left them at home and would mail them to me. A week later, no papers, so I called her. She had been real busy and didn't have time but would get right on it. Two weeks later, no papers, so I called again only to get another lame excuse. After a year of back and forth texts she never produced the papers, so I filed a suit against her. She has been hiding from the Constable who is trying to serve papers on her, but he swears he will eventually find her. There are others she has promised papers and did not provide them.
